We’re incredibly fortunate to be within one of the best stargazing areas in this part of the planet! The south of England boasts a number of areas that are ideal for stargazing.

The 'Petersphere' is more or less in the midst of this astronomically blessed region. Our town is inside a Dark Sky Reserve inside a National Park. Not only that, but our part of the world includes two planetariums, one in Winchester, one in Chichester, and an observatory halfway between.

What better place for stargazing - and of course 'Sky Watch' brings you the latest highlights every month.

The night skies above Petersfield in March 2026

A huge football week for Petersfield Town and the Men's first side as they play 2 cup games in a week. As a starter course, they face Eversley and California in a Tuesday evening tie and then onto the main course, an F.A. cup preliminary tie where tougher opposition awaits in the form of Laverstock and Ford. https://petersfieldtownfc.co.uk/ Liphook United are determined to play their style of football and go for all out attack. But Hook united are a well seasoned side and control matches very well. How will they fair when they travel to this respected team? https://www.liphookunitedfootballclub.org/ . The long off season continues at Petersfield Rugby club but the hard work never stops. Pre-season training continues on baked rock-hard pitches and we chat with the new coach and players about how their preparations are going.https://www.petersfieldrfc.club/ .And the cricket season draws to a close and  the Petersfield first side are chasing promotion back to division 3. In their last home game we chat to the captain about their season and future ambitions. https://www.petersfieldcricket.club/

A local mum who created a parent-and-baby group — and a listening ear for other parents — celebrates its first year in Liphook

Hannah Chandler wanted to create a safe, welcoming space where parents could meet, share their experiences, support one another and, importantly, make new friends and build those all-important local connections.

Following a successful first year, Liphook Bumps & Babies, which meets every other week, is celebrating its first anniversary with an informal summer picnic organised by Hannah.

Hannah shares her journey with Jo Gray.

Downs House opened their doors to friends and family once again to help raise awareness and funds for Dementia Friendly Petersfield.
It was a very hot August Saturday afternoon, but this didn’t stop the steady flow of relatives and supporters coming along to join in with the fun.
