Liss Archaeological Society and Petersfield Historical Society launch the 2026 Big Dig on Saturday 4 July, with the Mayor, Cllr Jamie Matthews, turning the first sod, at High Meadow, next to Swan Surgery.
The fourth Big Dig is two week’s in trenches and also in eight private dwellings for the 16 team members.
More of Petersfield's past as a busy crossroads has been uncovered and there's a suggestion of ancient pathways, possibly spanning more than 2,000 years
Visitors are welcome up to 19 July.
