The first Repair Café at the Avenue Pavilion was back in February this year, but last Saturday was very special as it was their official launch.

Greg Ford, Chairman of PCAN attended, along with Damian Hinds MP and our Town Mayor, Cllr Jamie Matthews cut the ribbon with a difference. It was hazard tape.

Don’t ditch it, fix it is the message from the Repair Café

Liss Archaeological Society and Petersfield Historical Society launch the 2026 Big Dig on Saturday 4 July, with the Mayor, Cllr Jamie Matthews, turning the first sod, at High Meadow, next to Swan Surgery. 

The fourth Big Dig is two week’s in trenches and also in eight private dwellings for the 16 team members.

More of Petersfield's past as a busy crossroads has been uncovered and there's a suggestion of ancient pathways, possibly spanning more than 2,000 years

Visitors are welcome up to 19 July.  

Speaking to Mike Waddington, Ann Brooks says more of Petersfield's underground past is being brought to the surface.

Petersfield Underground - the 2026 Big Dig!

It was a very early start for Club Captain, Albie Zarbcousin and General Manager Katie Laud, It was to raise funds for all three golf captain's chosen charities this year, The Rosemary Foundation.

They played 72 holes in a day, still keeping their competitive spirit as they lapped the course on several occasions.

Shine Radio caught up with at lunchtime while they still playing to find out their reasoning for doing something like this.
