Hearing relies on your ears but also much more and its complexities only come to mind when you find your hearing diminishing or even lost.
Lipreading helps many people with skills and support.
Emma Gueterbock is a tutor (trained by ATLA Association of Teachers of Lipreading to Adults) and she runs a free support group (donations welcome) at Winton House. She speaks to Mike Waddington about her own hearing loss and how lipreading might help, and other issues like technology.
Group members Helene, Christine and Peter talk about their own experiences and also some of the hurt that can arise for the person trying to hear and the person trying to be heard and other misunderstandings.
Navigating this is a hard task that this support group helps people with.
Emma can be contacted at emma@lipreadinglife.co.uk
