Memories of a lifetime, sometimes it's hard to let go

The Fifth Dementia Festival was held on Friday 30 October at Churcher's College.

Inspired by the late Geoff Williams, Dementia Friendly Petersfield and Alton brought organisations together so people could learn more about dementia, find out about support and understand more.

A vibrant, positive gathering with plenty going on - celebrating improvements but also the extensive network of organisations and volunteers who provide 'support'  - actually a huge array  on offer.

We hear from organiser Audrey Morton, MPs Damian Hinds (who opened the Festival) and Greg Stafford, Sid and Rob (carers), the Mayor of Petersfield and Chairwoman of EHDC and more.

Fifth Dementia Festival celebrates those working to live well with dementia

It was a very special afternoon with live band music from the Riverside Concert Band. They provided a lively mix of rock, pop and show favourites, all in aid of Canine Partners.

It was particularly special to them as one of their band members, Jenni, was accompanied by her Canine Partner, Rain. She played the flute and helped organise the event.

Shine Radio's Julie Butler was there to listen to the band play and chat to find out more about Canine Partners.

Over 200 walkers braved the elements to take part in the nineth local Beacon of Peace Walk last Saturday.

Although wet, the walk saw 28 charities walking to raise money for their causes. Every penny that gets raised goes straight back into the charities

At the end of the walk we caught up with the Chairman Luft Rehman from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
