Dee Griffiths has a beautiful garden in Bramshott

Phil Simmons is on the committee for the bi-annual Bramshott Open Gardens, when many of the residents from the historic and beautiful village open their gardens for us all to visit, along with a BBQ, bar, tea tent, picnic area, classic car display and plant stalls. There is parking and minibuses available too. A weekend ticket gives you access across both days on the weekend of June 13th and 14th this year.

Bramshott Open Gardens is happening soon

A local resident will take to one of the biggest stages on British television this weekend as the Hawkstone Farmers Choir competes in the final of Britain's Got Talent.

Gwen Woodruffe is one of the members of the choir, which was originally brought together through Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone venture. Made up of farmers, farming families and people connected to agriculture, the group discovered a sense of friendship and community through singing and decided to continue performing together.

The choir captured the hearts of viewers and judges during their audition with a moving performance of Elbow's One Day Like This, earning Amanda Holden's Golden Buzzer and a place in the live shows.

Last weekend they secured their place in the final with a stirring rendition of Bastille's Pompeii.

Ahead of the final, Laura Sheppard spoke to Gwen about the choir's unexpected journey from rural communities to primetime television, the reaction to their Golden Buzzer moment, and what it means to represent farming families on one of the country's biggest talent shows.

Local resident Gwen Woodruffe reaches Britain's Got Talent final with Hawkstone Farmers' Choir

The Escapist Bar on Chapel Street celebrated their first year in Petersfield on 22 May and it has been a success. 

Owners Tom and Steve have another bar in Chichester as well as their own brewery.

They try to do things differently like a day time quiz for mums with babies (Tuesdays at 3pm) and a local choir are now to come there after rehearsals.

They offer their bar as a club room for local groups. 

He says that like many in the hospitality sector, it has been hard going at times, with rising costs and decisions about what can be passed on, but they have held the line as a thank you for their customers.

As long as business conditions don't become worse, they intend to push through!
