Change is in the air as November drags on

It’s Our Earth Week this week and Shine Radio spoke to PeCan Trustee Melanie Oxley about her love of wildlife.

She says the UK is in the bottom ten when it comes to protecting our nature. Only 3% of our land and sea is currently managed for nature at the moment.

Think about your garden between now and the spring. It’s all about how to help next year’s wildlife.

Let’s put our wildlife first in our gardens.

Chris Brown has produced many albums and has been an active member of the Edward Thomas fellowship for years. A few years back he put together an album of the great poet's work delivered by professional actors called "Fast beat my heart (Edward Thomas and family at Steep)". We hear a couple of the poems from that CD which relate to Thomas's experiences during WWI and his connection the Steep area of Petersfield during that time. With Remembrance Sunday approaching Jack Finch and Chris Brown chat about the poet's association with the great war and his poignant observations of the impact on rural communities at that time.

People are invited to record where improvements are needed to make walking through the town easier, especially if you're pushing a buggie, even a double buggie, or a mobility aid.

Town Councillor Anne Stephenson in conversation with Mike Waddington, stresses getting ideas and requests on the record now, for action when funds are available.
