Patriots quarterback Drake Maye addresses the media during his postgame press conference on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Drake just uh, you know, two hundred and eighty two yards, a couple of touchdowns. But I'm sure for you, uh, the loss and the two turnovers are gonna eat act you a little bit. Just lessons learned in this one when you when you look back on it, Yeah, it.

Can't hurt our defense. You know on the fumble third down, you know, gotta get the ball out. Can't take a sack there. You know, take the same thing I'll talking about in the previous Compress conference, you know, punt you then the driver of the kick. Coach Mail preaches that end every driver of the kick. And then I thought were just some good things. But then day just it wasn't good enough. Drake over here on your for right, Uh. Rod Mayo said that the interception at the end was a miscommunication. Can you take us play through what happened on that play? Yeah, it's too high, look and it pops up the up the middle, and you know they're pretty good up front rushing five. So I'll try to you know, kind of you know, put it on them and kind of hit him over the linebacker and you know Pop was thinking piably, you know deep. But at the end of the day. Just gotta be on the same page. And I think Pop, you know, did the right thing. I guess gotta you'll just talk through more conversations. And it just goes back to me during the week doing more, you know, talking through different situations. Hey, I maype this one on your worth. Let it rip. So it's about.

It right, drag.

It feels like each week you get a little bit better and there's a little more growth.

Where do you see the areas of growth being this week?

And I also speak to the third and short situations and getting into your third and short with games on first and second half.

Yeah, I think this week just just scrambling to be a passer. I think, you know, taking off so early and you know, just talking to the football, being scrambler, you know, to throw the gall downfield. And we got a good players downfield. I thought I made good decisions and just the last reception. But I think a week to week, I think we're getting better. You know, pile of those guys up front from for battling and uh, you're able to run the football pretty good times a day. Just little things that I think, you know, down there in the red zone, we got to capitalize.

On hey drag fourth and two down near the goal line. Obviously fourth and goal with the two. Did you have any input over whether to go for it on fourth down or do you guys wish do you wish that he had gone for it?

Yeah? I think it's easy to look back and you know, wish we would have done you know this or that. But I think you know, that was to make it a you know, one score game. So you know, we're gonna hang our hat on the you know, what the coaches want to do, and I think I wouldn't you know, disagree with that. We've got a good defense and we're proud of our defense, and we think our defense are good, you know, good unit. So at the end of the day, they just you know, made more plays than we did.

Far right, Hi, Drake Kendrick Bourne no snaps last week, but this week he's got seventy two yards and a touchdown.

What did you see from him?

What was different about his attitude this week? Yeah?

I think's he was always the same you okay, but he's got your great energy and that's the one thing about him. He uh hena come in you know, day and day out with a smile on his face, and I think just testament to him for you know, not getting you know, probably we wanted last week and coming out here and make us a big place for us.

Drake obviously have a ton on your plate for yourself in a game like this. But do you watch Matthew Stafford do his thing? You obviously had a great game today, and did you get a chance to speak with him after the game?

You have no doubt. You know grew up, you know a big fan. You know Matthew jafferan still fan. You know all there on the sideline, I mean used to watch the one Thanksgiving. In fact, the line is always played on Thanksgiving, you know, thanks to being coming up. So I you know, through the football sadly pretty well today and just cool to watch and just I'm glad to meet him after the game. And it's almost a big fan.

Uh throw a lot of passes to guys over three hundred pounds in your career in the end zone, say you throw a lot of passes to guys over three hundred pounds in your career.

My first one. I'm proud of v Low and I think you have some trickery. I think that kind of gets lost in the NFL. You have some trickery, misdirection some things like that. I think you fool these if you fool these guys.

In the end zone.

Got good hands for a big guy.

Yeah, good hands. He caught him all week, so I try to give him a nice pass. I think hopefully my mom probably could have caught it.

Drake, what do you do or what do you say to Jale and Polk as he kind of struggles to find some consist and see right now?

Yeah, I think just just just keep going. I think, you know, he's gonna be a great part of this league. He's a rookie I like myself, and we're gonna have some good some good games as the Patriots together. So looking forward to keep him going. And I think he's getting, you know, thrown in there at different times and throwing there to block some so he think he's got to pick up some little things. But you know, he's a great player. I need to, you know, find a way to get in football.

Drake. On that false start penalty at the end of the game there, I think it was your last or your second last drive. It looked like you were sort of going down the line of scrimmage to try to communicate something. How difficult was it to get everything communicated the way you wanted? Was noise a factor down there? What happened on that play?

Yeah, I think the play clock was running down, you know, just trying to you know, do different things and can get guys lined up. Yeah, but just unfortunate that we have to take a time out there and really false start, you know, so kicks back and keep the field goal. So he had just unfortunate question.

Hey, Drake, over the course of your starting experience, do you feel like the playbook has expanded? There's more variety of it if you got in the sense that you guys can do more things now, I'm even like today the past distribution seemed like early on a lot of different people were involved throughout the game.

Do you feel like it's expanded for you? I think it's a testament of this offense, you know. I think you know, in TC in the quarterback room of you know, teaching us say different looks, different guys. I think, you know, it's predicts. I think it's one of the strengths of have a lot of different guys that can make place. They gotta guard everybody, and it goes back to me trying to get people involved, you know, like getting a bunch different people involved. And I think just you know, playing football, playing good football and you know, making the right read and being on time. There's a testament this offense at the a VP runs of, you know what it can do.

That's question Alex park Drake.

It looked like you made a couple of anticipation throwsund Henry today.

How far would you say your chemistry has come with him since training camp?

Yeah? I think, you know, he's a baller. I remember, you know, times in training camp, times I wasn't there with them. I think I remember I had a rack of four and seven on seven then I think I threw it to him maybe all four times or three or four times. You know, I'm trying to find eighty five. You know, I think he's a you know, one of the best tight ends in this league. And you think him and Oop and you know, those those are two great players for us. I think they know, week in and week out, you know, block their butts off in the run game and and make plays for us. So you're proud of, you know, eighty five and in eighty one, I think We're gonna have some guys out, you know else in that room that are gonna step up, So think of it.
