We talked, we walked and talked football guy.

Yeah, how long did it take you before you wanted to beat him up? Technique inside shake Evan, they did this. There's a ball nowhere. Oh yeah, just ask them a right.

Talk a little.

We talked a little three techniques. We talked a little bit about uh, you know, the defense and Jeffrey Simmons and him, you know, playing similar roles and things like that.

So you can do it a lot, right.

This is this is due otherwise Mike, do so. I'm Fred Kursh, Paul Pirello, and you've met Avan, so welcome.

Appreciate you guys having me.

Yeah, this is exciting.

Pat swag already see that.

They gave me little shirt.

Yeah this, my guy, this is exciting.

So what were your first impressions, you know, coming into the building and all that stuff.

Man, it was great. Uh.

Shoot, when you walk through the door, you just feel just the presence of winning.

Uh.

Coming from a winning organization in Philadelphia, Uh, it's the same way, but coming in here.

Is just different.

I would say I wasn't always a fan of the Patriots growing up. That's because they were so good. And I mean they just played complimentary football, great defense, great players on defense, great players on offense, great quarterback play.

Uh, just situationally aware.

Uh.

They just did a lot of things good. And I got tired of watching them win.

I want to see somebody else win, but here, I'm here now, So I want to try to help add to that, to that, to that winning tradition.

What are the guys on those teams? You know, as much as you sort of rooted against them, that you looked at, especially defensively, that you sort of admired.

Obviously, coach Rabel.

I was a little younger when he was playing, but I do remember he was playing defense and offense. I remember he was catching passes too, so he was He was definitely a guy obviously Tom Brady just having all.

The answers to the test, you know, the film study he.

Always talk about, and just making the right reads and getting the ball where it needs to be on time.

I think Rabel he had ten catches, all of them were touchdowns.

Yeah, he's probably gonna tell you about it a lot been man. That's good, That's that's cool. Yeah, But no, I just want to ask you about the lot.

Like, if you go back a year ago from right now, you knew you were going into free agency.

You guys had a you know, a stack team.

Over the last month, you've won a Super Bowl, you signed a free agency contract to come in with.

What's this year been like and how much hard work.

Did you put in last summer in preparation for kind of where you are right now?

I put in a lot of work, uh, with this.

Guy right here, yours trainer, Okay.

Put it put in a lot of work just getting ready, just trying to prepare my body knowing that I was gonna get a bigger role for the first time in my career and wanting to be ready for any challenge that that came. So getting stronger, getting faster, uh more endurance, you know, doing a little boxing, you know, doing whatever I can to make sure that I'm in the bed shape of my life and I can produce when it's trying to produce.

Does the boxing help with just a hand quickness and hand.

Hand quickness feat quickness uh hand our coordination, endurance.

Help with a lot, you know, after the after the whistle, you know, you might get a couple.

Inn you don't want to do it. Look, you don't want to you don't want to be dirty.

It's a couple of guys that I don't do this to.

About a couple of the guys that might.

Do that, I'm gonna call them out either they are.

So you just won a super Bowl and you mentioned coming in here you sense the vibe of the winning. But there's only two guys left now here after David Andrews is gone, who have won super Bowls with this team. So frankly, we need guys more guys like you who have that experience. Is that something that you're ready to bring like this is what it takes to win Super Bowls?

Guys, definitely, I know what it looked like last year. We had a really close team and we just played for each other.

Uh.

Great coaches. Ah, now we knew it was gonna be a journey. H Coach Sirianni. You always talked about the climb and you know, playing the game that's in front of us. Not worried about anything like down the line or whatever in the past. But we just played for each other. Uh, played for the city of course, and just going out there and being physical and you know, dominating your box. You know, whatever, whatever your job is on any given play, make sure that you're executing at the best of your ability and you know, get everybody on that same page and you know, uh we can went out there and dominated in Super Bowl.

So you got a one on one like yeah, fourth quarter games on the line. I've seen you use a lot of different pass rush movies. So I gotta ask you what's your favorite one, Like what's the one you're going through?

Uh?

If say, if a guy then like strap me up a couple of times, like got me like he got me?

Uh, speed and power?

Uh, I feel like I'm fast, fast, from my size, explosive enough to generate that power. And then also uh, just with my strength up about the strengths, just being able to get get my hands inside and you know, try to put try to either collapse the pocket or push them back far enough where I can disengage.

Uh, that was my go to.

So most of the time guys struggle with sitting down my power, so they'll try to sit different, and then I can get on edge quicker because they trying to stop me in my tracks earlier. So once that, if I catch a hand, it's over because I'm finna just run by you. But yeah, my go to will probably be a power rush.

Super Bowl stripsack on one of those, I believe, right, Yeah, yeah.

So are you familiar with this area at all? Have you ever visited New England or the Boston area or uh?

We we practice against you guys. Uh before the season last year, it was.

Yeah, did you get a chance to be dominated?

I'm supposed to say that, I don't know.

That was probably the lowest.

That was the day I knew there was not going to be a good season.

I mean, we could.

Much literally, I was a college team against the program.

The Patriots could not execute their offense that day because the pressure.

Because if you because you and Jalen Jordan's like they not even got a snap.

I remember, I remember, I've been telling some of the guys like, I remember we came out here and we just well, I remember.

I was, I don't like to just gloating.

I was going, I mean, that was that was We've had a lot of joint practices. That was the worst one to see.

We was getting after it, for sure. So I was once. Uh my agent told me that they were interesting. I'm like, they probably got their take.

All right, Well we're getting the wrap up. You got other things to do. We appreciate you stopping by for a few minutes. If you have any food things you need, recommendations on where the people would go to we eat a lot.

Appreciate it, Appreciate having congratulations again.

Yeah.

But where the Patriots are concerned.

Let's just get one thing done, and let's get it done right, and then we can worry about versatility. Am I lying to anybody here. Let's just get one thing done. Let's get one thing done right, and then we can move along. That's kind of my biggest thing.
