It’s the international year of indigenous languages. The United Nations has recognised the crucial role languages play in people’s daily lives. This year is all about raising awareness on indigenous languages and the richness it brings to the world’s diversity. From that, a Vaka Leo Polynesian indigenous languages forum will be happening in Auckland today, hosted by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori - the Maori Language Commission. Chief executive of Te Taura Whiri, Ngahiwi Apanui, joins Pacific Breakfast for more.
