A powhiri was held last week at Te Papa to welcome new staff including Te Papa’s new Head of New Zealand and Pacific Histories and Cultures.  Togialelei Dr Safua Akeli Amaama. Togialelei was Togialelei was formerly the Director of the Centre for Samoan Studies at the National University of Samoa. She is a PhD history graduate from the University of Queensland. Her research interests include gender, cultural heritage, health, governance and migration.
