View descriptionShare

In Week 5 of the Talanoa Ako NCEA Series 2026, hear from Teokotai Tarai (Tokoroa High School) and Josephine Ivirangi (Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate), speaking in Te Reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani, as they unpack Literacy & Numeracy support for NCEA.

This episode explains the co-requisite requirement, where students must achieve 10 Literacy (Te Reo Matatini) credits and 10 Numeracy (Pāngarau) credits across Levels 1, 2, and 3.

We explore:
• What literacy and numeracy are
• How students can achieve these credits at any stage
• Structured learning in classrooms
• Expectations from Years 1–10
• How literacy and numeracy are assessed across subjects

Talanoa Ako is available in seven Pacific languages and English, supporting families to stay informed and connected.
