A crown observer has been appointed to Wellington City Council in an effort to get it back on track. Councillor Ray Chung joined #PacificMornings with reaction to the appointment.

Pacific Advance Senior School (PASS) was established in 2015. It was the first Pasifika secondary school in New Zealand providing year 9 to 13 education. The founder of PASS La'auli Savae Sir Michael Jones joined #PacificMornings to discuss how the school operates.

The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC is the 6th Commonwealth Secretary-General. She was born in Dominica and was their candidate for the post at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta in 2015. She is the second Secretary-General from the Caribbean and the first woman to hold the post.

Japanese linguist Professor Yuko Otsuka visited the University of Auckland’s Pacific studies sector in early October, to hold a seminar advocating for Pacific children being gifted the ability to speak the language of their ancestors.
