A crown observer has been appointed to Wellington City Council in an effort to get it back on track. Councillor Ray Chung joined #PacificMornings with reaction to the appointment.

Pacific Advance Senior School (PASS) was established in 2015. It was the first Pasifika secondary school in New Zealand providing year 9 to 13 education. The founder of PASS La'auli Savae Sir Michael Jones joined #PacificMornings to discuss how the school operates.

The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC is the 6th Commonwealth Secretary-General. She was born in Dominica and was their candidate for the post at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta in 2015. She is the second Secretary-General from the Caribbean and the first woman to hold the post.

Japanese linguist Professor Yuko Otsuka visited the University of Auckland’s Pacific studies sector in early October, to hold a seminar advocating for Pacific children being gifted the ability to speak the language of their ancestors. Specialising in Tongan and Polynesian languages, Otsuka speaks with PMN journalist Aui’a Vaimaila Leatinu’u about how she ended up in Tonga, why she ended up studying the language for over 30 years and her thoughts on Pacific language’s surviving or thriving.#Tonga #faka-Tonga #Tonganlanguage #NZPacificdiaspora #languagerevitalisation
