This week we celebrate our Pasifika women and their contributions to society. Tauveve O’love Jacobsen is a Niuean politician and diplomat who served as Niue’s High Commissioner to New Zealand from 2011-2017. During her time in New Zealand she also served as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corp from 2015-2017.
O’love entered politics in 1988 as a Common Roll member and was the first woman Cabinet Minister in 1993.
She was the Vice Chair of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) from 1996-1998.
O’love has served as a member of the legislative assembly, Cabinet Minister and is currently part of the unofficial opposition holding the Government to account. A well respected and humble leader within her community O’love is also a mother of three and a proud grandmother.
