Maryjane Mckibbin Schwenke is the co Director of Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts, Australia's premier Pacific Cultural Arts Centre.
The Arts centre in Sydney started with the help of her husband Fred in 2013 in response to the negative stigmas surrounding Pacific people, in particular youth.
The idea was to establish a centre that would teach the positive fundamentals of Pacific Culture, and in turn strengthen identity and confidence. They work with students to tap into their natural brilliance and a legacy inherited from the most gifted navigators the world has ever seen.
