Tamaki Herenga Waka: Stories of Auckland, the new exhibition at Auckland War Memorial Museum, is a new permanent gallery that chronicles Auckland's past, captures its present, and looks to the future.

Last week we began our 4 week series taking a closer look at some of the stories that make up Tamaki Herenga Waka: Stories of Auckland exhibition. 

Today, we’re joined by Lealailepule Edward Cowley, who shares the story of the iconic Staircase Bar told as he transforms into his glamorous drag persona Buckwheat. Lealailepule aka Buckwheat - Is a Staunch Pacific Drag Diva towering in at over 6ft 5, Buckwheat is friendly, charming and has mentertained her way around the world many times over, with over 35 years in the business. 

As Edward, he has worked in the health sector for upwards of quarter of a century and is passionate about Pacific peoples and those who work with Pacific peoples to raise the health and welfare of Paific peoples through sharing, listening via education, leadership and advocacy.
