Throughout the history of the moana and her children, are local legends in tribal and village warfare. In Aotearoa we have the mau rakau; a martial art utilising the taiaha (short spear), a mere (a bladed weapon with a teardrop shape) and Tewhatewha (axe-like weapon), etc.
Samoa has the limalama, made popular by its founder and grandmaster, the late Tu'umamao "Tino" Tuiolosega.
Tokelau is the origin of a form of wrestling called fagatua. And joining us today to share some stories about fagatua is Tokelau international judoka and wrestler, Ilai Elekana Manu.
