As we continue our celebrations of Tuvalu Language Week 2021 on Pacific Days, we’re joined now by Dr Manuila Tausi, Principal Research Analyst with the Ministry for Pacific People & Tuvalu Community Leader in Levin & Otaki.
Dr Manuila was born on the island of Banaba in Kiribati & lived on Nanumaga as a child & attended Motufoua secondary school on Vaitupu.
He completed secondary education in New Zealand at St Andrews college in Christchurch & then continued with tertiary studies in Statistics at Canterbury University (1986-1988).
Dr Manuila returned home to work in the Planning Office (1989), before continuing his education with a Masters degree in Applied Science at RMIT in Melbourne Australia (1990-1992).
He worked in Tuvalu as the Government Statistician (1992-1997), before pursuing a PhD at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and also worked for 2 years in a research project (1997-2004).
