View descriptionShare

Pacific Dance New Zealand (PDNZ) are proud to introduce a brand-new digital initiative The Transform Series, which launched yesterday Wednesday 24 June, 2020.

10 Aotearoa-based artists have been selected to each create a 25-30min episode of personal content, to explore how their own dance practice is informed by their unique heritage.

Yesterday Iosefa Enari, director of Pacific Dance N.Z. joined us on the show & this morning, we’re joined now by one of the featured artists Alipate Trail (Fiji/Melanesian).

Albert Traill is an Auckland based Tutor and Choreographer. Currently the Director for Te Mana Performing Arts, a Fijian School of dance, Language and Culture based at the Pacifica Arts Centre at Corbans Estate in Henderson, West Auckland. The purpose of the school is to provide a platform and opportunity for all New Zealand born Fijians and anyone else who is interested to learn about Fijian Heritage through na meke Vaka Viti, na Vosa Vaka Viti, na veika vaka Viti, ie – through dance, language and the various customs, tradtions and history of Fiji in general
