This week Nicola and Di are popping the champagne for a very special Over The Travel Fence episode and introducing an extraordinary bucket list adventure for our Back Fence listeners - an expedition to Antarctica aboard Seabourn’s ultra-luxury ship, Venture. Joining us in the studio to unpack all the details are Jennifer Compton from Seabourn and Michelle Nicholas, Over The Back Fence’s own personal travel manager, who flew in fresh off a trip to Sri Lanka to share the news.

We chat to Jen and Michelle about the amazing trip to Antarctica that we are planning to go on with some of our listeners in 2028! Think of the ship as your luxury base camp at the edge of the world. Every suite comes with its own private veranda, walk-in wardrobe and heated jacket closet. Days are spent exploring iceberg alley by Zodiac, spotting leopard seals, humpback whales and orcas, and making wet landings among curious, unfazed penguin colonies, all guided by an expedition team Jen describes as “the most entertaining nerds you’ll ever find.” There’s even the chance to take the famous polar plunge, before warming up in a sauna with floor-to-ceiling views of the icy landscape outside!

Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or want to bring a friend, this trip is designed for connection. We are going to have such a great time together. It’s the kind of shared, unforgettable experience that creates friendships for life, with as much time to yourself or with the group as you like. Over The Back Fence listeners get access to a seriously special rate, so if Antarctica has ever been on your bucket list, now is the time to lock it in!

We also wanted to give you a chance to get to know Jen and Michelle a little bit, and hear about these two extraordinary women with decades of experience in the travel industry. We know we can trust them to create the most incredible adventure for us, and we cannot wait to experience it with you! Don’t just dream about it, come join us!
