Land is believed to be a spiritual holding- both by ancestors and the living. It is a spirituality that pays homage to ancestral spirits.
Most of the sub-Saharan African population still lives in the rural areas and not in the cities. Land, therefore, becomes one of the most explosive issues amongst Africans, as it is tied directly to food security and livelihoods.
In the program this week we seek to find the nexus of land and spirituality. Foreign investors see Africa as a breadbasket. If done well, investments in agriculture could help with African hunger but create food security for the rest of the world. Is land supposed to be spiritually preserved to the detriment of food security in the continent.
