The winner of the 2025 Dramatic Artistic Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO) Visual Arts Merit Award, Tshepo Bopape is set to present his solo exhibition Sea-Crits In The Water from next week (the 3rd of April to April 30) at the DALRO headquarters in Bramley, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa following a nine-month-long artist residency.
His work explores the relationship between water and African spirituality, drawing from personal experiences in pursuit of spiritual redemption. Sea-Crits In The Water emerges from his inquiry into how water serves as both a life-sustaining force and a mechanism for spiritual healing.
He joined us on the line to talk about this.
