The Sasol New Signatures Art Competition

Do you think that African musicians and artists know they rights? Do you think they know the processes to protect their copyright and IP?   That is what we will be unpacking on the show as we zoom into a presentation looking at this. It's called a Study on Collective Management of Performers’ rights in 12 African countries.

It  focused on countries like Angola, Cabo Verde, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda). The study highlights the peculiarities of cultural markets and collective management frameworks in those 12 countries.   It was presented by African Performers’ Rights Event taking place in Johannesburg.


To explain this is Pfanani Lishivha, is the CEO of SAMPRA, the South African Music Performance Rights Association.

Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the fastest-growing mobile gaming regions globally. Taking advantage of this is the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation with its initiative to teach high school students entrepreneurship through the tool of gaming. 

The foundation has launched its gamified Entrepreneurship Challenge  for high school students in southern Africa. Up to twenty thousand learners from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Eswatini have been invited to apply for the entrepreneurship pitching contests.  Joining Benjamin Moshatama and Palesa tau is Candice Jacobs, the Allan Gray Entrepreneurship Challenge Gaming Officer.

International Thyroid Awareness Week (ITAW) is observed annually from 25 – 31 May. Thyroid disorders affect up to 1.5 billion people worldwide, and 1 in 8 women develop thyroid disorders in their lifetime. 

Dr Sindeep Bhana chats to the  On the Move duo. He is a specialist in thyroid disease and former Head of Endocrinology at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
