South African legendary playwright and musician Mbongeni Ngema has passed away.
Ngema is best known for his award-winning works which include Sarafina and Woza Albert. He died in a head-on car accident while returning from attending a funeral in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. He was 68.
In 1981, he co-wrote the satirical play Woza Albert!, a play which imagines that the second coming of Jesus Christ takes place in South Africa.
