Botswana has evidently managed to avoid the worst effects of the "resource curse" (the failure of many resource-rich countries to benefit fully from their natural resource) by developing and managing its diamond resources with long-term development goals in mind.

On the back of the discovery of another mammoth diamond from a mine in Botswana in just under a month, we spoke to journalist and former chairperson of the Botswana Editors Forum, Spencer Mogapi about how the Southern African country has been able to avoid the resource curse and what lessons other African countries can draw from this.
