The Off the Edge with Cam Jordan podcast is a production of the NFL in partnership with iHeart Radio.
And here we are another week of Off the Edge with your host, me, Cam Jordan. I'm sitting here all the way frustrated with the season. But you know what, there's nine weeks left, nine games left, ten weeks left if you encount the bye week. There's enough time to turn this season around and make it a possibly good season. You know, like nobody ever saw the same saluson six games. Hasn't happened since like two thousand and five. Six games in a row, never been in this predicament. I don't know I've ever lost six in a row. But that's not We're here for it. Look, I'm excited because I've got one of my former teammates over at Detroit Lions who are there fighting for the number one spot their NFC North Division, A linebacker, a captain. I'm bringing my guy, alex Anzeloni, you know, so just pop this off. Hey, here we are are for another week of Off the Edge the podcast with me, your host, Cam Jordan. There's so many things I'd love to talk about, but I'm just gonna go ahead and bring in a former teammate of mine, a captain of the Detroit Lions, a man who's had one hundred tackles and back to back years aiming for a third consecutive hunt tackle situation should have been a Pro Bowl last year, but you know, I digress, my guy, Alex Azeloney, appreciate you for tapping in Roski. Yeah, it's about time, you know what I'm saying. Like, I just watched my friends leave and just like have stellar careers, and I'm just like, I'm I'm just happy and you know.
I'm a theme. Is it a theme?
Yep? Yeah, they leave and they're just all happy. Whatever. How is how is Detroit?
Bro?
How do you? How's the transition? You got married that the year before then? Yeah, now you got a kid and you know, captain and everything's going well for you. Just yeah, yeah, I.
Mean, I mean yeah, I mean it's it was definitely a transition. I mean that twenty twenty one, so, like, you know, coming into it, I think that I mean, personally, I knew what it.
Was going to be just talking to Dan and Brad when we when I first.
Signed here, and you know, they kind of just ripped it to the studs and you know, we didn't really have like the horses to really compete, and that's kind of why we were competing, but we weren't finishing, you know, the way way we could have. And then you know, just progressively growing each year through. You know, I'm in the year four here, so it's is crazy to think of it's been.
Yeah, year eight.
Oh yeah, we we love it. We love it. Uh, just got your let's just talk about it, like you I was watching, you know, I was like, I looked up Sunday. You guys were schmacking Tennessee. You know, put put together a great stretch, beat the hell out of Tennessee, convincingly beat Minnesota, who I thought was was by for you know, maybe by for the top of the NFC North with you guys, and then the week before splacked the Cowboys with a fifty burger. Just just tell me, like, you know, the last few weeks, what's been going on, because clearly the mojo in the confidence has clearly had a forever in your favor.
Yeah, I mean, we're we're clicking right now. And you know, unfortunately it's October. You know, it's still early and and we're six and one. But at the same time, it's it's still a good thing. But you know, it's just playing complimentary football, not turn the ball over. We're getting a hell of turnovers on defense, and like this past game we had I forget how many yards on special teams, but we're a defensive stay and we got a touchdown on pump return.
So, uh, things are just clicking right now.
Oh yeah, when all three phases is firing, right, Oh that's a storm, right. You know, how's my guy Jared Guff, you know, for a fellow cow beart.
No, he's good. He's balling right now. I think he's you know, very yeah, yeah.
Very in the talks with for MVP in my opinion, although this past game he threw for like he was like twelve or fifteen with.
Eighty five yards just because of the fuel position that he was getting.
He was insane, I think at the ball like at the two plus twenty yard line on like five possessions.
So I didn't really have much much to work with.
Y'all what forty seven.
Fifty two or something like fifty two to fourteen?
Yeah, okay, yeah, without even looking at you be like, oh man, they must have had a hell of a game.
Excuse you what, it's weird?
Hey, Hey. However, the wins come as long as they keep coming on. Nobody nobody asked like, how did you get there? They just asked, you know, no doubt speaking of that, you know, your first sack of the season, though, Can we talk? Hey, I saw the highlight it like all out.
Blabby too well, yeah, we had a little fress go on. I love fres go on.
Yeah, right here, Hey, K came down the pipeline. Yeah, makes a rude alh come here? Yeah, hey, but you know what what's beautiful about this is you don't you can sometimes trick off those freebies you get to.
One hundred percent. You're right, You're right.
Those are the honestly, I have one on Monday night. We were playing the race last year and it's a free run. They messed up the protection.
I had a free run. I grew up.
I'm like, this is the hardest act to get really, it's the layups the hardest.
Hey, the right foot let right layer, like you like, should I be up?
This right foot down?
And you got them lined up and then you just fall off of me.
Like yeah, exactly.
I think I think last year or maybe two years ago, I fell off Lamar Jackson twice in one play like hit him.
Yeah, I mean, that's that's understandable though, just.
You're like, that's it's like, that's what I'm saying. You're like, you like, I gotta break down, but I gotta hit, but I gotta.
There's no there's no there's no teaching. The coach can't even tell you what to do against them.
No, but you got your sack and another win, which puts y'all what you're tied in your division?
No first place? You know, yeah we got but Minnesota lost the game.
So yeah, how do you feel the number one seed?
I mean, it's not even Halloween yet, so it's like, you.
Know, and we're playing at Lambeau this week, so you know, I feel like that's really the focus.
Yeah. Remember remember the month of November. That's where you make.
Your head exactly exactly. Some say, some say the season doesn't start till Thanksgiving.
Some some say.
That, hmmm, I mean for some for so for for us, we're over here fighting for able you know, you know, it's the greatest thing about you know, the greatest thing about a seventeen week season. At least there's seventeen games. You know, there's there's a whole nine left, so a lot can happen in these nine games. Number one could could fall down, and number exactly bottoms can get to midjor top tier. So it just all depends. Do you think the NFC North is the best division in football?
I'm trying to think before I say yes. I'm trying to think other divisions who are hot right now?
Do you know any of any.
In the NFC. It's it's all really sort.
Of up there, you know, like yeah, it's it's kind of to tell, but I mean, yeah, you look at.
Minnesota, Green Bay, Chicago.
I think that they're all, you know, especially Chicago, they're kind of exceeding expectations with the rookie quarterback right now. So I think that they're all up there. And yeah, I would definitely say so.
I mean i'd say overall record I guess you know something, I'd say the NFC East. I mean, if you think about Washington being Chicago this past weekend put them out, like, yeah.
I said Washington, the Eagles, but then the Giants and Cowboys kind.
Of right, which doesn't really help the case. But their top two is contenders, you know, Yeah, that's true. Yeah, So if you if you say record wise, you're probably looking at NFC North is strong to destroy.
Themselves, right, Yeah, yeah, we got there's a blood bath coming and we see who comes out.
Absolutely yeah. I mean all the other divisions like it's it's all winnable. They're all within a game or two of each other. Inn Seed North, y'all still sort of a game or two within each other, just at the tops of division. Which yeah, like I said, it's a bloodbath coming, there's gonna be a reckoning. I was like, speaking of your division, did you see, uh, did you see the Chicago Bears and was that Jane Daniels their battle?
Yeah, and my dog Tyreek just yeah on that hell, Mary.
Man, it was not good.
He was out there pointing, Yeah, that was playing around. He was waving. He didn't even he didn't even realize that play had happened.
Yeah, that's what I saw.
I saw a picture of the Bears fans like pointing at him to turn around.
Yeah, no, that's stuff. And I know I know him personally, and you know he's a good dude.
He's just he's not a Gator boy.
Huh No, he went Miaomi. Yeah close, but no, he Yeah, that's tough.
That's college rival.
No, what state Poor State Georgia l s U.
But the hell no, this is so we talk about when we're talking about colleges. You can't have multiple rivals, Bro, that doesn't make sense. You went to Florida. You either you pick one and you stick to it. What the hell is?
No?
Well, okay, so Georgia Georgia we played a neutral site in Jacksonville.
Sure, So it's like, is that our rival or is it Florida State? That we play both of them every year? Yeah?
But Florida and now we.
Play LSU and I hate LSU do why?
Yeah?
I don't know.
That's on. Like I was gonna say, I assume for Florida would be like a Miami situation because you got a lot of Miami talent that goes to Florida, or it would be like you know Florida.
Yeah, we just we just don't play him every year.
So it's like so okay, yeah, you know better than me? For me, like, I hate everything that is Cardinal Red, like the stupid dancing tree that's over at Stanford. We have something called the Acts. We've been fighting for it for like one hundred and twelve years.
That's cool. That's a cool rival.
That's a great ribvaly. You can't have multiple risings. There's not enough hate in my heart. So like that's like, that's like, now you're in the NFC North, who's your rival? Like we know, we know Green Bay, Minnesota's the viral. It's sort of like everybody hates everybody everyone.
Yeah, it's kind of I don't know.
I don't even know all of them.
All of them.
You've been up there four years?
Yeah, I hate all of them.
Okay, Liza been down the past thirty years.
So it's like they want revenge on everyone.
At least m m. Okay, there we go. Because I was like, you know what it is with New Orleans, Like if we don't win anything but two games, it better be against Atlanta.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, you gotta hate everybody, Like yeah.
I mean it's a lot of it's a relative, is.
It now that you're now that you're part of Detroit? Do you do you not hate the Falcons?
Like?
Has that alleviated? No, that's so dism The hate is real there, you know. Yeah, Yeah, that's just that's just crazy, all right. I mean with you guys being at the number one position, you know, you know, take it back to the NFL number one spot in your division. There's much success that you guys had last year hitting the NFC Divisional Game championship. Yep, that's I'll say, what's the mentality now.
You know, I mean you know you've been there?
Yeah, Yeah, I've been I've been close to like the feeling. Yeah, so like we deserve it.
I'm saying, yeah.
But like you know in twenty eighteen when we had to like regroup going into twenty nineteen, that that sucks, you know, just because you know what it takes to get there, and you know it's.
Like can we do it again?
And you know that's that's the hard part because every year is new, and you know, that's kind of like the biggest lesson that I learned from. And that's really why, like last year, I was so upset when we lost, because a lot of these young dudes on our team have no clue what it takes to get there, and you.
Know, just just you start back at zero, right.
Like four years ago, what was your record to what it is now? You know, like four years ago you guys were on the cusp of or like I'm a hey, are we and rebuild mo? Whatever? It is, and now you're like, all right, we've got some dogs, we got talent, we have the ability. Now we have to show each and every week we're still top dogs.
Exactly. Yeah, it's a climb.
And then you get the playoffs and it's one missed up. You'd be like, damn, we have to restart it all exactly. Yea, I'll say, what's what's what's Dan Campbell like as a head coach? Because we had him as a tight end coach, but.
As a head coach, bro, everyone asked me like what was he like in New Orleans? It's like just I don't know, he like led a couple of teams right, Like it wasn't he wasn't speaking in front of everyone frequently, you know, like when Seawan was like not there.
Exactly. But that's what what what's the what's the difference between like the the the Sean Payton versus the Dan Campbell.
Yeah, he has some Sean in them. Like there are times when you know, you could see it in his face, like oh, you know, like he's all like the jovial day that.
A lot of people see in his pressers.
He's kind of like, you know, he's got some he's got some backbone to him, right.
The man came out like a beginning with said he was gonna buy somebody's knee caps off scratch Cross.
I'm saying, I'm saying that. Yeah, I've known him for eight years now, and I walk around I'm like, hmm, maybe I.
Shouldn't say I to him right now. I haven't mess with him right now. So now he is I think in that regard here in a healthy way. And but now he's he's uh, he's like grown into the head coaching role and just like blossom really and he just he is who he is, and that's the coolest thing about him. He doesn't have to pretend to be anyone else or you know, everyone, He like Garners the respect of a room right away, and that's just he is.
And he played for over a decade bro attitude like he's got all the metal in the world. Speaking of that, like you also got you know, Aaron Glenn my dog as a d C. And you know, how's he so effective in helping players, you know, reach their full potential?
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's kind of like I said that.
You know, in twenty twenty one, we didn't really have you know that, I would say necessarily the talent to really you know, compete, you know, at a high level, and you know that's.
Just the fact of the matter.
And a g I feel like the best thing that he does is putting his players in position to succeed.
No matter you know, how good or how bad.
Like even this past these past few games, we've had guys at the DM position after Hutch got hurt, you know, having to step up, and then whether that's manufacturing pressures and things of that nature, it's it's pretty impressive.
And you know he's grown as a coordinator.
But the best thing about him, though is I think he's just a good leader. And I feel like he just has that orror about him too that you know, similar to Dan.
Yeah, talk about Brow. How is it Alex Angeloni the leader?
Bro?
Like, how do you think you lead? Bro?
Uh?
I mean that's funny, like because Mark, when Marcus signed here, he's like, you know, it's different seeing Alex in this role, you know, which I understand, just be because you know, I was a young puff in New Orleans and I feel like the only way you could really lead as a young player in New Orleans is by example, because you know, the vocal leaders were there.
But yeah, I mean I just lead by example, do my thing. But then you know, we've got to keep accountability in my teammates. And you know, I've kind of learned different you know, styles along the way.
I feel like, you know, even your leadership style just you know, I feel like you're not afraid to say what you think.
But at the same time, you have relationship with everyone.
And you know, I'm not necessarily like the raw raw leader, you know, like some people are.
And that's just kind of kind of how I am.
Yeah, but you're able to relate, and that's the greatest thing ever, bro, Yeah, being being on that level, like hey, bro, let me talk to you real quick, and so you get guys out of there, you know, get out of their.
Sensitive Yeah, And that's the thing is like you have to have that relationship or else. You know.
It's just like damn, this dude thick.
Yeah, dude is literally just so he's like he's always have to be bro Like if you don't have relationship with him, Like, bro, like you you're not my dad, you know.
Like the facts, especially especially with the young players nowadays.
Hey, these twenty twenty kids is different.
Now different and they have money sensitive.
Yeah, league sensitive. They got to be coddled. Like it's weird, bro, stay tuned, We'll be right back. I read somewhere you were the NFL's most underappreciated players, like one of the one of the most unappreciated players in the league. You know, your teammate Aleen McNeil had called you like the lebron of the Lion's defense, you know what I'm saying, Like you have to calling them things now, Hey, yeah, others.
I know it's funny and I'm like in your eight and I'm like the old the old guy on the team, you know what I mean. And I was like, this is not how it was like in New Orleans.
Your eight was like the median age. But no, yeah, I feel you know, that's a compliment. You know. I think he just means it in a in a way if I just tried, you.
Know, that's just my role, you know, yeah, just kind of who I am. I kind of help do the math out on the field and you know, figure get us out of certain situations and you know, just kind of with.
The athletic ability meets meets the actual knowledge the experience and knowledge combined in something like that, I can help you.
Yeah, right, something like that. Right.
Hey, so do you guys, what do you guys do as a defense You guys do defense dinner?
We don't. We don't thought, we don't do a defensive dinner. I know I didn't.
I didn't bring the tradition. I think we did a little bit in twenty twenty one, but it.
Kind of just fell off.
But yeah, no, nothing, I know we do like the wings on Kirby has been bringing wings in on Thursdays or something like that Thursday.
Yeah, you know, just some little.
Little watch watch the defense as a team.
Yeah. Yeah, we're a tight knit group, honest slaves. And that's kind of natural. It kind of like happened organically.
Mmm, I'm back, don't do don't do any dinners. You don't. You don't have him over at the at the Angeloni.
House, b crib and everyone everyone's like married people are having kids left and right.
It's it's it's.
Hmm, I'm literally going to be late for my defensive line dinner today. I'm like, I'm like, you know, it is what it's.
Where are you going? Uh?
Walk on? Walk on? It's just to watch watch the game, you know, watch the game or two just again, just.
Make sure hang out, like make sure the spirits are high.
Make make sure the spirits are high. Hangout. We switch from like so we now we do defense dinners every every other Thursday, and then we do like position groups every other something after that night. So the D Line this year wanted to go on Mondays. So now like we can actually fully relaxed because second exactly, it makes a little bit more sense now not like it's actually like full relax. How are you like, you know, what was this game? Like? Now I can talk about like, hey we mess up this D Line game? Are you good? Or like you know, like, hey, let's keep going whatever it takes, let's keep going. It's a little bit more chill. I sort of like a Monday switch up.
Monday. Monday is a good night for that, right, Yeah.
Monday football. You got basketball games now series happening. Yeah, yeah, a lokey, lokey upset. We was out and we played the played the Chargers and Dodgers World.
Series in l A. Yes, when you hit the walk off.
And we're two and we're two and five, and I'm like, I can't do it like this. Oh if we're six and one, I'm sitting right there right walk off home run, I'm I'm on my I'm on my iPad watching film. Bro just all my Microsoft surface whatever whatever it is. I'm watching film. Like now, we got to find a way to get a win. But shoot, all right, brouh we got we got hallows Eve coming on? Do you celebrate hollow like I've seen that family fits.
But yeah, you know, we got some little family family fits. My dog, my son Coop, has a.
Little school Halloween parraide. He's gonna be a.
Ghost, just classic. We're more we're just doing the traditional stuff right now. And as they get older, they'll they'll choose what they want to be.
Okay, Yeah, they'll choose that they want to be. Yeah, most I've ever heard in.
Costume in costume.
Yeah all right, So he's going as a ghost and you guys are.
Going as what well, okay, so school pary ghosts Halloween Thursday night.
I think we're going to be a family of bats. Really really, I didn't choose it. I didn't choose it.
You never do.
And I voiced my opinion.
I was trying to go for Power Rangers. I was like, I want to be the White Rage you say. In fact, my daughter nixed it. Bro, look at these johnts like these so an old oh to the Power Rangers. You know what I'm saying. Like, I was like, I want to be White Ranger and I'm gonna get some shoes done. I'm gonna have to clean some So my daughter was like, yeah, so we're going We're going this Princess and the Frog and I'm gonna be Tiana. So daddy and you could you could be Prince Navin. And I was like, I ain't know. I was like, no, no, no, I'm a village no shadow shadow Man, Yeah yeah shadow Man. So I got, you know, chopped off all the face.
Of hair a weekend there you go.
Yeah yeah. So you know, some people are happy with it in the house. Some people aren't. Uh my daughter deemed uh my wife Nikki, uh Mama Odie. She's like, she's like, your mama Odi. I was like, I was like, damn, baby, I don't know what she's trying to tell you. She's like, yeah, yeah, mom, you're old and so your mama od I.
Was like, yeah, yeah, that's tough.
You got to get you a girl. Bro, Like, my daughter loves me.
So we have so I thought you just had cool. No, so cool. And then we had Carter and last she's about to be a year old. And November twenty ninth, well we got yeah related out.
Oh double dad duties. Yeah okay, so you know bro, and like in two years she will love you unconditionally like you think you think your wife loves you, nor your daughter is gonna be like yeah, so where are we going? No? No, baby, I'm getting in the car. No, yeah, you have to stay.
I love it.
Any any any girl after that just hit or miss the first who love me? And my third one is I think she's annoyed with me at all time. She's just like she looks at me. She's like, so you brought home bacon, right, all right, get out of here.
But yeah, I may just be the young youngest child.
Could just be that.
I mean, I'll be trying to so the love. I'm like, yeah, baby, come on me, you gonna have a date. I want mommy.
Damn yeah, I don't.
I don't know this feeling, I said, what is what is it? This projection? Wait? Housekeeping up?
He's three, okay, three.
Walking talking, got some got some attitude, will tell you no, Okay, I was.
Thinking about it. I was like him and uh, if him in Tank were the same age, they probably be getting along. Get along. Well put it that way, manly men.
Just yeah, hey, walking around trying to wrestle any and everybody.
Yeah, like every day at school, like, uh, it's physical again today.
I'm like, okay, I'm trying to tell you.
Like, I'm sorry, but he just really likes he likes his friends.
He just wants to exactly exactly. It's his love language.
That's his love language, bro. You know, like, it's not it's not him, it's me. I did it. I'm sorry, right before he goes to bed. There's definitely WrestleMania going on at all times.
Yeah yeah, doing flips and stuff.
Man, Hey, I love that you're a leader, bro. I love that you came on the pod blest Us with some wisdom. Hey. You know, go be a dad, bro, go be a husband.
You know, appreciate your camp.
Yeah, brother, Hey, I mean my dog alexand Seloni has come a long way from University of Florida product to now, you know, being drafted to the Northern Saints to being a captain, a leader, if you will, a leader of men, if you so shall over at the Detroit Lions where they're sitting at the top of the division. Uh. Super happy for him, man, I mean, I know what it's like to have great success in the league. I'm in an unfamiliar territory with not having great success. Uh, mentoring young guys, being just you know, after starting off hot two and oh to two and six, you know, frustrated, maybe not getting you know, the edge pass rushes yet that I'm accustomed to. But you knowing that, uh, you know, you have to trust the organization, trust that we have a path. Again, there's ten weeks left, nine games left. We could easily best case scenario eleven and six. I'm always gonna rock with my Saints and have the highest of hopes. After a lost Sunday, it does hurt, It stings it again. I don't know, I've never really been here so irritated, irked. Message to the fans, man, like, just rock with us, you know we need we need all the energy, all the positive vibes. I had old lady, older lady yesterday come up to me randomly at the at the store, and she was like, look, you don't know what it's like to be here when when of the good they were the aints wearing paper bags. We're not there yet. And I said we're not there yet. She's like, yeah, there's She's like, we can still come out, we could get it done. I but fully, I say, you know what, shout out to that to that older lady, you know, like shout out to a breadth of positivity. We're talking about at a school at a school visit, kids were like, hey, we can still, we can still do this. You know what the New York Giants did. And there was a year when the New Giants barely broke more than just even. And we've got plenty of time to correct the ship. Now. When I said plenty of time, it's about two to three week window here. So rock with us. You know, when we come back home after this Carolina game, we're gonna need all that energy. We're gonna need all the vibes we're gonna get. We're gonna get back right. We got to be able to get ourselves right. There's enough people in this building. Think about how many guys are coming back healthy er each and every week, which is a crazy thing. To say, in this league, we just got to come back healthy and all the same mindset. We have to dominate, which you know, just thinking about the game, I'm also thinking about uh, somebody like you know, somebody media whatever it was portraying my guy, Uh, Nathan Shepherd. It was like some lovenly offensive lineman from the Chargers. He had said that he had never seen. You know, it was the dirtiest play he's ever seen from a d tackle who had won, who had just won on the guy he got beat, and then because he got beat, his quarterback got hit. Nathan Shepherd is trying to get Justin Herbert, who's a bigger guy who can take a hit, get him down. Falls, you know, hits him somewhere in like the mid the mid rift area. You know, you feel like abdomen's stomach whatever. It was an initial legal hit. Falls falls through the fighting of Justin Herbert, who like underhand pitches the ball to running back. My guy, Nathan Shepherd had no idea. His head is turned towards the end zone, so all he knows he has a quarterback is clutches. He's trying to get him down and the guy is still fighting him. So he activates a gator role, which have you done that? Initially I think it's not a play that you even talk about, but because there's some sort of internal conflict fight there this oh that's the guy's name is Bozeman. Yeah, there we go from the Chargers, jumps on Nathan Shepherd after the play, like mashes him on the ground, pokes my guy, Nate Shepherd's eye, and then has the audacity to say, well, you know, it's one of the dirtiest plays I've ever seen. And I'm like, you play football, you know what a dirty play is. Dirty plays? You know, multiple plays later after the whistles blown, you still trying to like clear the top, you know, like that's a dirty play. A dirty play is like, hey, the quarterback obviously doesn't have the ball and it's probably like headed towards the sideline and you meet him after the white You know that's not it's it's a play that you probably prefer not to have. But honestly, you know, with how it started, dirtyest play, that's crazy. Where As we as we think the game, everything that entailed, how you start off hot two and six, I keep saying this two and six, so this hurts, you know, just you see the season at this point as surprising because you start off to and oh, dropping forty points a game for the first two games, and then to be struggling sometimes you know, get it together. You know, you see offense show up, defense show up, special teams show up, and then all of a sudden there's glaring inefficiencies at defense and offense. It's then even you know, I think special teams have been damn good job. I'm not gonna I'm gonna ride for that one for sure. I think that there's a chance that we get this thing right. There's been players meetings, there's been captains meetings. I mean, everybody wants to be in a better place and that's what we're fighting for. So going to the Panthers, the score of the last time we put on them forty seven to ten, that doesn't mean anything going in this week. All that matters is we find a way to get back to the win column. Confidence has to be boosted, whether that's you know, possible dare Car comes back, whether that's you know, another office a lineman comes back, whether that's you know, another dB comes back healthier, whatever it is, you know, if we say, hey, our best eleven. I take my best eleven win healthy versus anybody, And I still say that we have to get healthy, we have to get right, We have to be able to be on top of our assignments. You know, we got Pete Warner let back last week and that was huge for the defense. You know, the way he's able to go latter side aside underpreciated a lot like Alex Adelonia in his defense. So it's just, you know, we have to be better. It's not like you got guys giving up. It's not like that you you've got you see defeat in their eyes. Guys want to win. Talking about guys giving up or even typing out. Just a quick pivot around and looking around the league. This new page, bro like, you know, I'm not gonna say it's all guys born in you know, these two thousands, with these two thousands kids, is a little bit different. You know, I say, I see a couple of burking bags being carried by athletes. Now I see a couple couple of guys who whatever, we won't even we wan't just cuss it, but just know these thousand.
Kids, it's a little different.
Late nineties it's a different time.
Uh.
You know, I if guys are tired, I've seen d lyman who are tired, you know, maybe like tap out, cross her feet, Hey, give me out for a reper two.
Uh.
I've never heard anyone openly admit maybe it's like I said, it's the times of change, and openly admit that they were gassed or exhausted as to be you know, like an like an athlete, athlete for so long. You saw that Anthony Richardson, I just saw a pressure clip of like, hey, Anthony Richardson was said he was tired, and so he tapped himself out as a starting quarterback. I don't know if that's even allowed. I mean, clearly the Colts probably feel some type of way about it, since they're sending a clear message starting Joe Flacco this Sunday. I mean, it's it's one of those times. So you're a you're a high draft pick, you were sort of hurt last year. You've got a lot to prove. And I think Anthony Richardson has all the talent in the world. I think, you know, and I don't think a lot of guys when it comes down to talent, but mental fortitude is part of the game as well, and so you know, for the future, just stay tough, you know, train your body to the point of no return in the off season. So when you're getting those uncomfortable, unfamiliar positions. The eighteen nineteen play drives the you know, Anthony Richardson esque sideline, the sideline seventy five play, seventy five yards just to have to go back to the huddle and run another play. Be ready. That's a part of the craft. That's a part of being obsessive with the craft. It irks me sometimes have you been on you know, my own team or defense, and I'm like, how are you tired after two or three plays? Like you had an off season? How are your feet crossed? How are your hands on your hips? Like, yo, you're sending a message. I was told early on in my career. Everybody's telling a story. Are you reading the right page? Are you.
Like?
What do you presented to the world. So that's why I've always believed that, you know, this idea is like no fear, like this is the last warrior mindset. Because I love to see when somebody has that, oh I'm hurting you hit a tight end you hit a tight end and next thing, you know, like that tight end, it sees you and he's like avoid avoiding gaze. You get that, Mike Tyson feel like I'm looking at him, staring at him. The first time he looks away, he broke it. Like That's the type of game that I love and I love to play that way. You bring your hands to work every day to choke a person on the opposite side of you, out to break his mind, body and will, and then you have your way. But you know, that's just the older school version that I've always enjoyed playing the football that I love, the one that you don't catch, you know, flags for targeting, the ones you don't worry about. You know, was that you know where your hand position was on a quarterback, like whatever that is. I just love that good old like hit him in the mount type football, you know, Marshall Lynch, Hit him again, hit him again, hit him again until you don't want no more. But anyways, that's uh I come from. Apparently, you know a different time. I grew up watching Chris Domans. You know, I grew up watching Keith Millard. You know, I grew up watching like wanting to be like Jawn Curse, Warren Sapp, Mike Strahand even at the you know, at the tell end of it. I love the guys like Bruce Smith, the monsters of the game, Deacon Jones, Reggie white Man. You know, there's just so many monsters of the game that that's how you grew up watching, So that's what you immolate. Now it's a lot of nest guys. Anyways, that I could, I could digress it and go on a real rant, but I appreciate y'all tuning in.
