A Leitrim Councillor has welcomed the review of the free school meals programme.

It comes as the Minister for Social Protection announced a host of changes to the programme earlier this week, including the proposed adoption of cold lunches.

The review is aimed at enhancing the nutritional value of the food on offer in schools.
