There are serious safety concerns over a lack of public lighting in Riverstown and Ballinafad.
Despite a call for funding to install the much needed infrastructure in both villages, Sligo County Council has indicated there is no money available to carry out the works.
Some residents are said to be fearful over walking alone in the evenings, particularly as the darker evenings approach.
Local Fianna Fail Cllr Liam Brennan says rural towns and villages in the County deserve the same services as other urban areas:
