It's hoped new e-scooter rules will improve road safety in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal. 

Rules requiring e-scooter users to wear a helmet and hi-vis clothing are now in place.

Those who aren't in compliance with the regulations face a €100 fine if they're stopped.

Independent Cllr James Gilmartin says it's a positive first step:
