The Government has come in for further criticism over pausing a key infrastructure project in west Sligo. 

The N59 links Sligo to North Mayo. 

Progress on a road upgrade has been suspended for some years after it failed to advance past the initial options selection phase due to a lack of progression and approval from the TII. 

There's major ongoing concern locally over a number of dangerous junctions with collisions along the route said to be frequent.
