A Sligo Councillor is calling on government to allow Gardai to enforce existing road traffic laws more effectively instead of introducing new laws.

It comes as government are aiming to make wrong-way driving a specific offense after the M9 crash which left five teenagers dead last month.

Technology including AI is set to be rolled out in an attempt to spot potential offenders earlier as a response.
