It's thought a lot of young people across Sligo and the North West will start living in back garden cabins as new planning exceptions come into effect.
Homeowners will no longer need planning permission to build a dwelling of up to 45 square metres in size at the back of their property.
It's part of a government effort to cut red tape.
Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council and Fine Gael Cllr Dara Mulvey says while it won't solve the housing crisis, it is a positive move:
