Road safety is a serious concern in Donegal, with five young people under the age of 25 having lost their lives on our roads so far in 2026. This is a worrying increase compared with the three young people who died throughout 2025.

In response, approximately 2,800 Transition Year and Senior Cycle students from secondary schools across Donegal recently attended the AXA Roadsafe Roadshow at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny, an event organised in partnership with Donegal County Council as part of National Road Safety Week.

In this message, we highlight the importance of road safety for young drivers, learner drivers and passengers, and why everyone has a responsibility to help keep themselves and others safe on our roads.
