Despite a lack of offshore action, Horseplay leads the Dare County Boat Builders Tournament, followed by Secotan, and Freestyle. The tournament continues through Saturday.

As the Dare County Boat Builders Tournament gets underway, mahi mahi, tuna, and wahoo are prevalent in offshore waters. Elsewhere, drum, sheephead, and speckled trout have been reported.

Though it was a cloudy day, excellent numbers of blackfin tuna, mahi mahi, and citation bigeye tuna were reported offshore. Inshore and surf reports remain steady.

Tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo, and a few sailfish were reeled in offshore yesterday, with nice numbers of speckled trouts being reported in the sound.

Offshore action out of Oregon Inlet this weekend resulted in both yellowfin and blackfin tuna, mahi mahi, and even a few billfish releases. Closer to the shore, red drum, ribbon fish, speckled trout, and croaker make up a good portion of the variety!

Those fishing offshore hit the mahi mahi jackpot, as well as bottom fishing that resulted in an abundance of tile fish. Near shore, Spanish mackerel, blue fish, and ribbon fish were caught in excellent numbers.

Bigeye tuna, yellowfin tuna, and mahi mahi are being reeled in offshore, where inshore drum, speckled trout, and sheephead are among the variety.

Most boats were laid up today due to breezy conditions, but a couple ventured out for catch and releases with some returning with the variety of catches seen frequently this week.
