In today’s episode we are chatting with Matty Johns.
To a lot of people, Matty is a footy loving larrikin. To me, he is a great mate that I can always rely on to have a good time with.
Matty has played rugby league in the NRL, the state or origin, for the country and for the super league. His second career has been in entertainment and some people say it’s where he absolutely shines.
In this chat we speak about Matty’s family and growing up in the Hunter. We speak about him playing with his brother Andrew Johns and how their relationship affected their careers.
We talk about how football was more than just a sport to Matty and to the people of Newcastle in their tough times, and Matty’s somewhat controversial move to go overseas and how that affected him.
We also talk about his second career in media and our 8 years spent together doing breakfast radio. We speak about his family, and both of his sons now playing professionally.
Matty is an energy. He’s a character and he is thoroughly entertaining.
