The Fiends of Theatre North have held another Cinq et Sept and invited Dr Jane Woollard back to the "stage" for Scandals, Squabbles and Artistic Ambition: Further adventures with Tasmania's theatrical ghosts of the 1830s and 40s.
It is known that performers in the 1830s and 40s travelled extensively on Australian touring routes to ply their trade, earn an income, and build their reputation and star status.
It was a highly competitive industry, and performers often fell out, resorting to the Magistrate's Courts or the press to resolve their disagreements.
Tasmania's early theatre practitioners also had artistic triumphs, and pushed boundaries. They attempted new work, and re-imagined old work, in the never-ending search for novel programming, to attract audiences, and earn their keep.
Stuart Loone, programs manager at Theatre North introduced the evening.
