Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.
Good Morning Football, Welcome to you.
Good morning but football brought to you by Old Chapper Beef Jerky. We are live here in LA also in New York is Wednesday, October twenty third. I am Sherry Burris alongside Akbar Baja b of Miller, Peter Shaker, Kyle Brantther there in New York City. Guys, you're back in this city.
We miss you here. But how is it being back so far?
It's awesome. It's been great.
And I'll tell you, Sherry, we woke up to some NFL news and we should get right into it because I'll tell you what, New York City never sleeps, but the Kansas City Chiefs don't either. Or yeah, Ian Rappaport, We're gonna bring him in now.
We have breaking news this morning, Peter, as you mentioned, and then the insider Ian Rappaport, what more can you tell us? There's a big trade coming between the Titans and Kansas City Chiefs. And as I saw you tweet this morning, this is kind of been a deal in the workings.
It has been a long rumor deal that now is happening. Sources say DeAndre Hopkins, the star receiver for the Tennessee Titans, is in the process of being.
Traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Champs continue to load up another day, another big time receiver moves. It has certainly been a season full of them. We've seen Devonte Adams, We've seen Amari Cooper. Now DeAndre Hopkins is the latest. Minunderstanding is this is in change for a fifth rounder that could become a fourth rounder. Twossads are still going back and forth now on salary. Minerstanding is the Titans are going to be some of DeAndre hopkins base salary for this year, just to make it easier for the Chiefs to withstand the salary. But this trade is expected to happen. So Casey has lost Hollywood Brown, Juju Smith, Schuster not going to play this week, but Andre Hopkins is expected to be there.
You're right, this has been a long rumored trade. But listen to how fast it happened.
It has been nothing but rumors till about I would say midnight last night, Kansas City time.
The two sides got together. They kind of threw hypothetic goes back.
And forth by about five or six in the morning today it became clear that a deal would happen, expected to be finalized soon.
D Hop going to join the Chiefs.
All right, Ian, we appreciate that and definitely something we're going to be discussing here on the show and throughout the week.
Just Peter, you mentioned it. Nice way to start the morning.
D Hop now going to have to pack his bag quickly head to Kansas City. When we saw this news break, what was the first thing that came to mind for you?
I think he and nailed it.
This has been in the works in the ether, but it really came together last night. Look, the comp from what I'm told, is a fifth round pick, and the conditions are interesting. What you're going to get is at Super Bowl appearance and playing time being that's what could qualify to a fourth for the Tennessee Titans. That's actually not even finalized as we go on air right now. They're still working that out. Kansas City was looking for an inside target and a red zone guy, obviously because of the Rashi Rice injury, but also now because Juju Smith Schuster went down on Sunday against the Fancisco forty nine ers. Also Kansas City was not looking to trade a Day one or Day two pick in this deal. This is what they wanted to make sure they can at least protect that They do that. They focus on winning here, but they also keep the window open for as long as that goes. Cande hops still play well. He played forty four snaps on Sunday. He was pulled in the game because of lower leg soreness.
He obviously had the knee injury.
Brian Callahan spoke about that Sunday after the loss to the Bills. But the expectation is that he's healthy and he's good to go, and he's gonna play.
I go back to.
Twenty twenty three where I was covering free agency. We all were Ian was, Tom was, Mike was, and the Chiefs were hot on DeAndre Hopkins to add him for some firepower. Twenty twenty three, that's two years ago, and Tennessee just offered him the world and he went there. Now, look, he is beloved in that market, He's beloved in that city and Miss Amy Strunk Adams, they love him there. But this was one opportunity for DeAndre Hopkins to go and finally get that Super Bowl ring or at least pursue it. You better believe the Chiefs have been watching the Ravens week to week and how they're loading up on offense. This is a way to not only put a band aid on all their injuries, but to throw some firepower into the mix for their stretch run.
How about this move, Peter? How about these Chiefs? Great? How's asango? Peter?
Dun, Dun, dun. This is how you do.
Dynasties, guys, this is how you maintain empires.
You can't just sit there and do nothing. You gotta make moves.
I think it's interesting Peter's kind of referenced this US as a show. Peter and I are coming into New York City here and we're going over the show, and the opening block of today's show was, Wow, the Ravens. How can the Chiefs stop these Ravens? I'm seeing people on other channels. If the Ravens stay healthy, no one will stop them. And it's like, are you sure about that? Are you sure about that?
Three moves?
All right?
Three wide receivers to the AFC. Here's why I see him, Davante. I don't think he's gonna make the playoffs. Amari might make a big play in a playoff game. DeAndre probably will make a huge play in the title game. You know it, I know it. This is a massive move. I'm actually a little bit sad. I was madly in love with this Chiefs team. I loved the way they were doing this ugly, sloppy, bad offense, incredible defense, Mahomes having a career worst year, and the league's only undefeated team, the league's only undefeated team, the back to back Super Bowl champions, just got a guy. And now you might say, oh, he's getting old.
He isn't. No, no, no, listen.
I don't know if he's gonna have one hundred and fifty yards in his first game. I don't know if he's gonna have one hundred fify yards in any game. DeAndre Hopkins is out there. So when it's third and nine and everybody jumps Kelsey, he gets ten.
This is a massive deal.
And if you're not sure where you are with dan DeAndre Hopkins type it. In last year primetime, the Will Levis Titans beat the Dolphins. It was the real Dolphins, and DeAndre Hopkins was amazing.
This is a massive move.
Not small, not meet him, not large, massive, They're the undefeated team, not even playing well, and they.
Just got a guy.
We're gonna be talking about this move in January. We very well be talking about in February, and we have an exclusive for this is pretty cool. The Chiefs Kingdoms fired up. We just cleared this video.
Here's live reaction to Kansas City to the DeAndre Hopkins, Kansas a Chief.
You may be throwing up right now.
You hate the Chiefs.
You may to be sick of it, too bad.
This is a big deal.
This is going to win and lose games for them and probably playoff games.
Amazing move.
Don bomb Bom.
She's gonna remix the Imperial March with an acoustic guitar.
Look Out it's coming soon, folks.
The Poet's Department, wherever the hell it's called.
They got a new album.
I'm Austin.
It's awesome.
Aw you hit all of it, man, that was big.
I think this is You're right, this is This is probably the biggest move since Taylor Swift started being a frequent attendance to the Kansas City Chiefs game. I mean, this is going to change everything for them. I love the way the Kansas City Chiefs think the personnel wise.
They continue to show us that.
No matter what they do, when like if you get injured, no problem will solve it. Every move has been the right one, from the way they drafted, from the way that the acquisitions they bring in.
You know, look, Isaiah.
Pacheco, hard runner, that's all right, we'll go get Kareem Hunt. We'll bring him into the fold, and not just bring him into the fold, but he's gonna come in and be productive.
They know how to use personnel well.
So you look at DeAndre Hopkins and you go, Andre, he's thirty two years old, how are they gonna make this work. He doesn't have the same type of speed. But the boy is still cleaning his rout and we talk about this game like this.
This guy can play still.
I don't know what anybody Drimping a round a thousand yards ain't easy to put up, you know, in the NFL, let alone to be thirty one, thirty two years old, still balling. Yes, he has that little nagging injury. I'm sure they'll clear that up. DeVante all of a sudden got healed up real quick. I'm sure DeAndre is probably going to be on the same stuff to heal up really quickly once he gets to the Super Bowl champ team Kansas City Chiefs.
And when I saw this, it's the rich just getting richer adding a player like DeAndre Hopkins. And Mantite actually said something that stands out to me that I think can apply to the Kansas City Chiefs is he hates the phrase next man up. And I feel like that is what they do in the building for Kansas City because it's not oh, just next man up.
We're going to replace you.
They value their players, but they add pieces Peter to still continue to make them better even when they're down. As you look at this, how do you feel like adding de hop is going to impact Patrick Mahomes as we look forward.
It's great, It's huge. I said this earlier. The inside stuff and the red zone target was a huge, huge deal when Juju went down, and I know everyone rolls their eyes and says that Juju well, because of all the other injuries to Rice and to Hollywood Brown and to the players that have left over the last couple of years, Juju was a big piece of this offense. So now without Rice and without Juju, they had to find some big body that they can get involved and that's him. Look, Worthy's going to be your deep threat. We know that Kelsey and Gray are going to be across the middle. And now you've got one of the great possession receivers in DeAndre Hopkins. He's not going to burn you. He's a four to six at this stage in his career, maybe a four to seven, But gosh, is there anyone better When you throw the ball up in the air and you say, go get the val I think of Kyler Murray. Throw in that Hail Murray. But there's been so many other times. And can he still play? I think he can. I don't think they'd make this trade if they didn't think so. He's actually been alright with the Titans the last two years. And I'll tell you the Chiefs they were in the hunt for him last year. I mean like in a big way. So now they do get him there, I will mention that, you know, you talk about Kansas City, like, can you get guys back? The expectation is Pacheco is coming back, and there is hope. It is a long shot. As a Hail Mary the Hollywood Brown can come back as well. So you start getting guys back. At the meantime, woh, DeAndre Hopkins is there, and let's see if he can get it going rather quickly.
You've been up in down the road with Hopkins a long time, but you do have a lot some unusual guy and how is he going to show up in Kansas City.
There's an emotional factor to this too. If you know about.
Hopkins, he may or may not like to practice. He may or may not be emotionally engaged all the time, depending on how well his team is doing. I think to go from the outhouse to the penthouse for him at this stage of his career, just myering away in Tennessee, we're going nowhere to go. Now you're on the Chiefs and now I'm like, there's Kelsey and like we can win a super Bowl now. I think you need to get his best. Mike question you though, and like Farbia for us to suggest this, are we overreacting a little bit? If you're a Ravens fan watching this morning, Oh wow, DeAndre Hopkins.
Because of the desperation of those positions, right, yes, if they had those four other receivers and you had DeAndre Hopkins, maybe he's I think he immediately becomes number one or two once I get to going, and you know the connective tissue in all this. Kingsbury coached him for many years in Arizona. Of course, Mahomes played for Kingsbury. There's open lines of communication. So Brett Veach, I'll say this about the Chiefs. It's a place where there is everybody. Brett Veach has now brought back Kareem Hunt, has brought back Juju, has brought back Jody Fortson, and has brought back all these others come on, has brought back They have another guy that they brought back. Someone at home up Juju obviously was who is There's someone else.
There's a fourth guy that they've brought back.
Yeah, there's always a door open for them with this team. And in this case, the door is open, of course for them to go back to a free agent that they wanted last year and they weren't able to sign and DeAndre Hopkins he comes in. I think the compensation is the right thing. It's not a day one or Day two pick. All right, let's take your shots. It's good football business. You know, kind of reminds me of watching Shark Tank. When you're watching Shark Tank and you.
See they take some of these businesses that may not be producing the same type of way, and then all of a sudden they interject all of their knowledge and their experience, and there they're ciss into some of these businesses, and all of a sudden you see these explosions. I can't tell you how many things I've bought from because of Shark Tank. You know, all of a sudden, they just exploded. And I think that's what the chiefs do well. I think Andy Reid, I think you know the front office, they find a way to look at personnel and going we can get this guy not only into our system, but we will.
Increase his value.
I think the value that DeAndre brings and then going into the system is his route running. His rout run I said it earlier. His route running is excellent. Yes, he doesn't have the speed. Maybe he's a four sex. I think maybe he's still probably in a four or fives. I'm gonna say four or five something, right, but not as elite as a speed as he used to have.
I will say this, you.
Don't need the speed when you can create separation with dope routes. I mean, all you have to do is give him that little study and all of a sudden, he's out of there and now he's creating separation. And that's where the smart ones are. I think in football, especially when you get to the NFL, you always hear it about the difference between college.
Speed and NFL speed.
The difference is the awareness and being able to see the game faster. And that's what you get in a veteran in DeAndre Hopkins. He's gonna see the game differently that allows him to move faster even when he's not running faster. It's gonna be lights out for Mahomes. I think Maham's gonna probably have one of his best games this next game or whenever he gets back.
My guy Lakwan, my guy Lakwan just hit me up.
He's got the name.
It was mccol Hardman, who he goes with the Jets and then last year at the trade deadline said yeah, we got his spot. He had the game winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. So Hardman, Juju Kareem Hunt, Jody Fortson, and now this is DeAndre Hopkins who they went after and couldn't land. But like, the door's always open in Kansas City, which I love.
All righty time to do a round of Whiteboard Wednesday. We're gonna start, obviously, with the breaking news we just heard out of our insider, Ian Rappaport this morning. The Chiefs trading for DeAndre Hopkins. So get your boards, get your markers, Rasar, I guess if you need it. What does this remind you of in a pop culture world? Peter DeAndre Hopkins joining a Kansas City team a pop culture reference that first comes to mind.
All right, so let me take you back HBO. The Sopranos first four seasons just humming along, winning Best Series. They're at the Emmys every year, they're taking home every award. They could have just cruise with that same cast, and then all of a sudden, in season five, Phillyo Tardo shows up, the great Frank Vincent. Now, if you're not familiar with who Frank Vincent is, you know him as Billy Bats in Goodfellas. You remember him, of course as Frank Marino and Casino. He even goes back to Raging Bull with Scorsese. They drop in Phillya Tardo in season five and season six, and he is the most evil of all. He is the best of the villains. He takes the show over and My point is this Sopranos had it, they had the rings, they had it all. But they're like, we're not done yet. We're gonna add in one more and spoiler alert maybe, but I didn't want to go to a gas station. Maybe the next ten years. After watching How Pheliotarto went down in the series finale.
I have so many Phileotardo lines I want to send to get the head of It's vulgar as how character Billiot Tardo joining in.
The soprano staff. That's Franklinton Rest in Peace twenty seventeen. We lost Frank Vincent, one of the great character actors of his time.
Oh wow, that's a hard one to follow.
Well, I guess in the name of you know, DeAndre Hopkins joining, he is the new addition. So I go to the nineteen eighties. You remember the New Edition the group? How big they were? Yeah, I mean I think Belle biv Duvau, you see Brown, Bobby Brown.
I mean they had everybody. You remember Candy Girl.
I can't get into singing it, but that was that was the jam. Everybody remembers Candy Girl. But they were so popular, so young, everybody loved them. But then of course there was trouble. There was trouble because Bobby Brown had his issues the Chiefs. They have their issues with the wide receivers. So they add a new addition. And I remember when they added he'saw on their last photo. They added Johnny Gill, and it was like Johnny Gil to the new addition, like h but he had this solo career where he gave them this presence. He helped them mature from going from the young group all the way into the mature crowd. And so Johnny Gil is of course DeAndre Hopkins in this situation. So new addition Johnny Gil DeAndre Hopkins. You can see it in that bane. Okay, I like the new edition comparison.
I have different when I go to Los Angeles and listen, I go to John mcclan and Diehard. He's up against all this his enemies, he's up, he's he's by himself. He's maybe under manned and under gunned, and that's kind of mahomes. And then there's this moments when you know Hans Gruper opens the elevator. I'm gonna do my best, Alan Rickman uh oh naw, I have a machine gun.
He now McLain.
Oh great, Now we got to deal with this guy who's got this new weapon out of anywhere. We got all these things against him. He's had this crazy run. We should put him down. And the great Alan Rickman, now he's got to deal with McLain. And by the way, it ends with a huge bomb at the top of nuke. The bomb is now showing up. This is the whole thing, right how how?
Next question, shre.
I love all the connecting of the dots here, all right, Next question. Justin Jefferson and Anthony Edwards recreated the Sports Illustrated iconic photo Randy Moss and Kevin Garnett, the athlete from any sport and an NFL player.
Same city.
You want to see the same crossover photo, Peter, what city we going to first?
The coolest thing about the Moss and Garnett was obviously because of the youth and the exuberance. The coolest thing about that ant Edwards and Justin Jefferson is that they have such huge personalities and it's the youth and exuberance. So I'm gonna go with the same thing, and I'm gonna go down to Baltimore, where I think Gunner Henderson and Zay Flowers are the future of their sports. Yes, gun that one. Gunner the young Orioles player, and Zay Flowers, of course, the second year wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens. I know that they're not the same big names necessarily as Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson, but they're coming, They're coming.
Gunner is the man.
Gunner is the man. He is the spirit of that young Orioles team they trailed off at the end. In fact, the Bats went silent in the playoffs. If Scott van Pelt, if you're watching, I feel you. Any Orioles fan who watched the Orioles in the playoffs. They were bombing the Bats the entire season. All of a sudden they get to the playoffs two games, taking a.
Hit out of here.
I have a nickname for Gunner and.
Flowers guns And.
That's so good.
That's Baltimore.
We see you.
Jimmy Seafood, send us free stuff, we love it.
Excellent slash too, send.
Us no GNR, no bucket head here.
I'm gonna go to Miami. Let's go to Miami. This one. You guys are gonna really appreciate. Tyreek Hill talked about crossover. Who else crosses over guys? And Lionel Messi. These two are literally crossover players. But then when you look at the way, you know, obviously they play the game, but massive stars. Tyreek Hill probably one of the biggest athletes, not only in football, but especially in Miami. Then you get worldwide mister Lionel Messi, you know, playing over there with inner Miami. I think that would be I think that would be a dope photo. Just to see those two on the soccer field and then put them on the football field. See what that looks like. Tyreek Hill Lionel Messi. That's those are two big names right there.
I'm also going international as well.
The NFL went to Brazil this year, and look who I've got. I went deep for this one. Cairo Santos and Amanda Nunez. Cairo Santos the Bears kicker, Amanda Nunez maybe the best pound for pound fighter, and MMA his street certainly women's MMA by far, both from Brazil. Santo's doing his thing on the Bears. Nunyez A couple times a year when I'm bored at home, go I will just type in YouTube. Amanda Nuniez versus Ronda ROUSSI, Oh my.
God, Wow, what what was that fight? What was her plan?
See what happened there?
That made like last week's Commander's Panthers game feel like word got it. It was the most one sided sporting invite you've ever seen in your life. Nunyaz the Lioness now waiting in retirement. Santo's crushing it for the Bears. Two incredible fighters from Brazil. That's my crossover. I want Lionis.
I like the crossover. I like the international crossover now.
So that's the mix up you didn't know you needed this morning. Also, I would not have picked those two together. I like where your brain was that?
Kyle?
This one too, in particular, on this day in twenty eighteen, the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody came out, telling the story.
Of the band Queen.
That same week, our Kyle Brand got to sit down with that.
Listen to this.
What was the first time when you growing up that you just remember hearing Queens.
Music was probably when Wayne's World came out. Everybody loves Bohemian Rhapsody, and I love Bohemian Rhapsody, but even Freddie at one point he said, well, you know, Somebody to Love is a far superior song. I think that's he writes Bohemian Rhapsody and he still says, you know, this other one I wrote.
Is still better.
Call?
That was so cool?
All right?
The music artist are band you'd love to see a biopic made of is who?
Peter? Hear me out?
All right?
So ac DC's the biggest band in the world. They're on fire, They're unbelievable. And then in nineteen eighty Bond Scott, the lead singer, passes away. Everyone says they're done, it's over, it's done. They hire Brian Johnson to be the new vocalist, and everyone's rolling their eyes and they're like, what the heck are we going to get here?
What is this?
A new lead singer to the best band going right now? Yeah, they come out and they produce Back in Black inteen e and it goes on to be the second best selling rock album of all time. Yeah, Hell's Bells, you Shook Me All Night long? But Back in Black all these songs on an album that people were anticipating to hate. It comes out and they have this entire second chapter.
They wanted to hate that album.
Oh, everyone wanted to hate it, and then they crack and it's even better, Bond Scott passing away, Brian Johnson taking over. It's not as more minutes too morbid, but like it feels like when Blood Sooe went down and Brady came in and the Patriots got better. That's it. I want to see an ac DC biopic. I love their story and I love their music.
You know, uh, you know, I don't know a lot about ac DC. I only know that there was one in the Weight whom we used to play back in Black.
Right, That's that's a CDC. Right? Is that all I need to know?
They just said it five times?
Okay, now I'm just saying, but is that all that they had?
Was that?
Was there any other ACDC? Is the only the back of Black's the only song.
In the stadiums all the time.
Okay? Maybe I just you're gonna have to school me on that.
I'm not totally me all light long? You know that one Hell's Bells?
Yeah, okay, hero soundtrack?
All right, Don't Go Wasting or you know, Chasing Waterfalls TLC. I would love to see TLC see them do a biopaye with.
You on that on that one.
They had an interesting, interesting rise to success of course, you know, uh you know, there was a time obviously when she was dating uh Andre Rising, you know, and that was a fire relationship. But it was you know, like growing up in the household seeing my sister fall in love with them and then me falling in love with the music. It was one of those things where you just could not escape them. And so I would love to just see how they told that story on in inside. What made them such a special group? They stuck together for so long, especially when you see groups breaking up apart all the time. Uh TLC one of my favorites. I would love to see that by OI.
Tell you is one of my very first crushes that just absolutely love t Boss loved her.
We'll get into that off the air.
Okay, this is a simple We can all relate to this Marky mark and the Funky Bunch. Can we find out what the hell happened here? If you don't know what this is, yes you do. Mark Wahlberg used to go by Marky Marky at a rap group called the Funky Bunch. They had a massive hit that still gets played all the time called good Vibrations. There is an Oscar nominee for a Scorsese movie with the shirt off wrapping. They also did a B side called The wild Side, and they had a whole thing. Mark Wahlberg not only will not ever get back with this group, he will never talk about it. He will never comment on it. There's almost nothing on record of Mark Wahlberg all these years later about this. He won't touch it. He's never gone on fallin and recreated.
The song what it is?
I don't know. He was on.
Stage once with Mark Wahlberg at a thing and they were doing a new kids thing and they tried to get him to do some marketing Mark Donny Donny donn Yeah, he wanted with Donny and Mark runs off stage.
You won't do it.
If you look at the Mark the Funky Bunch Wikipedia page, ELI want to see like legacy or like later years. It just says Mark continued to release music until nineteen eighty eight and became a.
Successful actor in the United States.
What is that?
Why has he never had a reunion show for charity or anything. He's got a reality show about Hamburgers. He's in every movie ever, and he won't do one gig with the Funky bunch. If you want a really awkward watch, watch the Total Request live clip when Eminem is on the air with Mark Wahlberg.
When Mark Wahlberg's promoting a.
Planet of the Apes okay, and Eminem starts like kind of jabbing him about it, like Wow, we're all big, one big funky bunch here, aren't we.
And Wahlberg is out on it like it's funny. He's not amused.
Mark, You're so successful, why not just admire this. This is a fun little footnote at the beginning of your career when you're wearing underpants and stuff. He hates talking about it. If you know Wahlberg, if you're a Patriots fan, can you ask him? I would just love to see one time they just do the song I'm gonna at mine, So get yours. I want to see what coming out your poors. It's a great song.
Everybody did that song?
Come on.
Welcome Back. Every Friday we do segments. Every Thursday, we do certain segments. On Tuesdays we do angry runs. But on Wednesdays it is fab five Day, and that means it's the top five rookies of the previous week. The list is in and it is a list unlike any of the other Right, no Jayden Daniels, no Caleb Williams. Let's meet some other players. Poss number five. We're going to an undrafted rookie out of the University of Tennessee. When the NFL Network put together it's draft binder of four hundred and two names, his name wasn't even included. This is Jalen McCullough out of Tennessee, who had fifty one career starts in college, but got no love in the draft by the analysts or by the teams. And yet the Rams they found a spot on their squad. Fifty one career starts and played sixty games over five seasons for the Balls. What did he do on Sunday? How about two interceptions and a pick six against the Raiders? He owned Gardner Minshew in this game. He leaves the Rams right now with three interceptions. How about this the first rookie since Patrick Sartan to have three interceptions and a touchdown in a two game span. He's that dude. The other name, of course, Marcus Peters, another former Ram and a legend when he was in Kansas City as well. Jalen McCullough welcome to the Fab five. You have another newcomer to the list, and we're staying at defensive back. He's a first round pick and he's playing for a defense that's been much maligned all off season. But as awoken, I'm going with Eagles corner Quinion Mitchell, the first rounder who said he wanted to go down as the greatest player ever to come out of the MAC, was excellent on Sunday, played thirty one snaps and lined up against Malik Neighbors, a fellow first round pick and Neighbors. You know what his numbers were when he was on this guy, two catches fifteen yards and everyone said Neighbors didn't get involved by fantasy.
Where was Neighbors?
Quey On Mitchell was there? Quey On Mitchell in coverage Week seven at New York. Look at this, this is next gen stats. We love using their stuff. Thirty one snaps only was thrown at four times, two catches fifteen yards, and Neighbors only had one for nine against Quinion.
That is what you do.
That is what happens. Last week we had Cooper the Gene on the list. This week we have quine On Mitchell. The first and second round picks of the Eagles seem to be playing pretty well. Number three back by popular demand. We go to a rookie out in Green Bay who might have the biggest fan base online that you might not know about. I'm talking about rookie safety Evan Williams. When I omitted Evan Williams from the list last week, it was as if I omitted, like, you know, the Godfather from the top five movies of all times.
Oh, you can do that if you want to, Citizen Kane, you name it.
Evan Williams is that dude lining up across Xavier McKinney, as say for Green Bay, and he was amazing yet again on Sunday. You know that CJ. Stroud only threw for ninety yards in this game. Did you know that Evan Williams had nine tackles and started and played every single snap in this game. Evan Williams a rookie for Green Bay. He made the list in week five, could have made the list in week six. I didn't have him in Green Bay. Fans attacked me online. It was not nice online for me. Last week green Bay, I get it was back on the list here. Nine tackles in the defense absolutely shut down that high powered Houston Texans offense. Three defensive backs to go. No, but we're staying on defense. Okay, how about Rams first round pick Jared Verse. We have two Rams on the list. Jared Verse was all over the field.
He was a.
Menace wearing that number eight. You saw him throughout the game. He was everywhere in the backfield. He had nine different quarterback pressures in Week seven nine. It's the second most of any player in Week seven, behind Greg Russo, who had eleven and was all over the field against Tennessee. It's also the most pressures by any rookie in a game all season. Jared Verse wearing number nine. What's gonna happen to this Rams defense? Without Aaron Donald? Rams even is up pretty good. They have Joe McCullough making interceptions, and they've got Jared Verson knocking the snot out of Gardner Minshew. Obviously, you see this single game quarterback hits by a rookie since twenty ninth. Rit Jared Versus big game when you needed him most. He'll be on the field tomorrow against Minnesota.
I have I have a note you said he was number eight. He's nicknamed v eight.
Appear like that verse eve drinking a lot of vegetables.
Yeah, you're like this, and all of a sudden, you drink that vaight and you're awake. That's a throwback to our older fans. Number One, we've gone four defensive players, no quarterbacks, no running backs. Who's number one on the list?
Number one on the.
List is Bill's wide receiver, key On. How about that Coleman? Wo Coleman had a better receiving day than just about anybody else in the league on Sunday, Coleman had one hundred and twenty five yards receiving. Truly a breakout performance. He's the first rookie to leave the NFL in receiving yards in a week since Jamar Chase did it twenty twenty one. Think about all the great wideouts in this sport. Nobody had a better receiving yard day than Keon Coleman. But we really loved Keon Coleman lending a hand to newcomer Amari Cooper. You know, a little bit of help matters, and when you can help your bet, Look at number the bottom of your screen here, that's an open shrug, and that's key On Coleman given the tip to a Marii Cooper on What to Do. Cooper got there on Wednesday, had a touchdown on Sunday. Look at the bottom of your screen, Cooper in the slot.
Coleman on the bottom eight.
Team looks at zero zero says okay, here's.
And there's a.
Marii Cooper getting a touchdown on the play from Josh Allen sharing his caring folks, that's what it is, and he's shared the info with Amari Cooper. Keon Coleman is number one on our list. Here's our Fab five for the week from left to right, Number one Keon Coleman, number two, Jared Versus, number three Evan Williams, number four Quineon Mitchell and number five Jalen McCollough. You will not find anyone else talking about this group of players anywhere, and that's why you watch Good Morning Foot. What we talk about all thirty two teams and we don't just give love to those first round picks. Kyle, your thoughts on this very diverse group.
Of rookie love the list.
I love this non Caleb, non Jayden because of injury and by week que On Mitchell, you got my attention, wants to be the best player out of the MAC. Ever I was thinking it, so Roethlisberger's out of the Mac, Antonio Gates, James Harrison. I mean, there are some guys think Jason Taylor's out of the.
MAC, Jayson Taylory, Lambert or Ham. One of those two at back. Lambert might be out of the MAC.
One of the two those That's a great goal.
I like that goal a lot, and I bet the MAC Conference champions that goal. They love their alumna, and I hope he gets there.
Are tough. What do you think, you know?
I love V eight. I mean, you guys, I saw V eight. I was like, oh man, you guys have me walk in sideways on that one.
Yeah, the commercial.
Yeah yeah.
Jared Versus you know, watching him, you know during the preseason, watching him during the season, he just continuously is getting what he didn't play during the preseason but during practice, but then during the season just getting better coming off that edge. That's a lot of QB hits. That's a lot of pressure for that young defensive end. I don't know if he's going to replace Aaron Donald, but still he's uh, he is a big time.
I really liked your Bill's wide receiver.
Key On Coleman.
Not only have we come to love him for what he does off the field, that he has his great sense of humor, but the fact that he helped out Amari Cooper, a young guy, a rookie being able to be like no like this. This is the playbook already, and to help a brother out. Kudos to him, Peter, So great job on that.
List, Peter.
I'm going to pre produce next week's list. Okay, okay, next week's list. I don't know who's going to be five on a four or three or two or one. I guarantee that Caleb Williams is number one on next week's list. I guarantee it's Bears Commanders. We don't know if we're getting Jadeen. We don't know number one.
Plays on our list.
Play it back if you notice on our list.
This is very specific to me.
I only reward for the most part winning teams. Manders, Rock Bowers, had a big day, didn't win, didn't make the list. There's a lot of rookies who have big days, but in losing efforts, you don't make the list. Drake May played well, did not make the list.
Did I say anything about losing.
I'm just saying, Bears commanders on Sunday, Kyle's calling a shot. I got it soon next Wednesday.
And I just wrote Peter, excellent, excellent work, your top five.
Rookies of the week.
Can wait to see who's next week too,
