GMFB Tuesday Hour 2: Why Jets SHOULDN'T PANIC! Cowboys demolish Browns

Published Sep 10, 2024, 5:01 PM

Hour Two of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Michael Robinson reacting to the New York Jets offensive struggles vs. the San Francisco 49ers - what went wrong for the Jets? Scott Pioli joins the show and shares his takeaways on Caleb Williams’ opening game and Jerod Mayo’s first win as Patriots head coach. Later, they discuss the Cowboys dominating victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good Morning. That's right, less Ethridge.

This is Good Morning Football. We are presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. We are live the three of us here in Los Angeles. And by the three of us, I mean I'm Jim heard all. This is akbar barja Biammella. That's Emra Michael Robins.

I made it. Yes you here, man, what's up?

Mary?

Say you would a minute in a minute after That's right. We were Detroit together, Yeah, hanging out good time.

That's Peter Schrager and Kyle Branton. They're in the squares.

Listen, Peter and I were We're just trying not to get God.

You know what I'm saying. You know what I mean. We're talking about.

You tell us about it quickly.

You don't want to be podcast I have with my guy beist Mood Marshawn Lynch Man.

It is awesome.

It's a little you know, you want to not watch it with kids sometimes, man, but it's awesome. You know what I'm saying, to get got, don't get God?

Love it.

Tune in and you're saying it's so early here.

What do you take that podcast? Like two three o'clock in the afternoon.

You get to discuss.

Yeah, I get to wake up when I need when I want to, you know, work out, you know, give me a nice little protein shake, then do the work.

How do you think Mike McDonald's saw with Marshawn hugging on him on the sideline last week?

Oh, I know, he was like, what the hell is going on?

What is happening?

And he saw with Beast Moore it was like, Okay, what am I going?

What am I gonna.

Do to be.

So he said what's up? That was gonna be my question?

What does a Mike what does a Marshawn Lynch backrup feel like?

That looks incredible, wonderful tissue. I'm sure it probably hurts bro on the hands.

Sherry Burr's Mike Carofellow joining the show, But we have business to take care of. It was Monday night football last night. We took care of business talking about the forty nine ers. Let's folk on the Jets this morning sun for the league block League.

Block, Maybe go Jets, forty nine ers. We're going look forward to this one.

This one was when the schedule comes out like Wow, look at Rogers. He looks cool in his jacket, his wired headphones, and mcaffery looks terrible in street clothes.

What's up with that?

Ninety minutes before the game that cleared out?

More on that shortly. Frank Gore was honored last night, and Frank Gord have been.

Proud of this effort.

He's got that Marshaan hare even has the Marshawn number. There's no superlative too big we can put on Jordan Mason.

Look at maccafrey's trying to kiss him. I don't blame you.

He's doing his job.

He twenty eight carries, who's been through that clips up a couple of times.

Now, Peter, if Mason starts next week and plays well, one of the McCaffrey takes coming out, those coming.

Around the corner, why would you pay that guy that much money?

He said?

The macafre my sister making do anybody?

I don't know. I'm not saying that, but I'm seeing people who are Rogers has picked off Jets fan disappointed routinely.

Now.

I know there's a lot of Jets fans this morning saying it's week one, it's week one, and it is and they're rights. I'm surprised the forty nine ers put up thirty two points when the best player in their team was the street close thirty two to nineteen long flight home to New Jersey for the Jets, Why don't we hear from their head coach and their quarterback after the first game?

Is there anything to Aaron and I guess at all camp?

But there's a lot of new peaches that haven't played.

Games together on the line. Who needs to receiver you missed last year? Does that contribute to some of the struggles you.

Guys had or is that just I mean, that's an excuse for sure. I mean I'm not gonna use that. I don't think we should. You know, we expect greatness when we step on the field. There were moments, for sure. The moments have felt really good, but not sustained. You know, I felt like we could just get a first down, we'd be rolling, and we had those three and outs, which really hurt us. But you know, I think a lot of stuff's correctable, which is great for coaches. It's frustrating for players because we know how close we were slash are, but no time for that. We're gonna move on to Tennessee quickly, and then we got a game four days after that. So this is a tough opener for us travel wise and schedule wise. But no excuse is we got to play better. I gotta play better, and you know we'll bounce back next week.

You are not happy with the lead, you know, it.

Just I'm not really cons I feel like offensively, we did a lot of really nice things we did.

You know, it's just for especially for Aaron on his first game back. We'll definitely be better.

It was great on Good Morning Football in the first hour the five Am California where we talked forty nine ers. So I'm sure the Niners fans all saw that. So let's take it to the other side and the Jets, Peter, we bounce it right back out to New York. And the fact that Rogers tempered expectations perhaps after watching that first game being a part of the offense, even though they only possessed the ball for like twenty minutes or so Monday.

Night, Yeah, I didn't even I mean, the Jets had that one great drive and then they put Tyra Taylor and at the end and they had another draft.

So the nineteen points as a misnomer.

They didn't.

It was all Niners, and it was all Niners anytime.

They wanted it.

Party looked like Montana last night, Jordan Mason looked like Roger Craig and Frank Gore combined. And what's interesting about it is that, you know, all summer there's been this feeling of like, oh, you don't have we don't have to play our starters in preasing.

Like they just trust us like Jets, like just trust us, we got it.

You know, in the offseason they let Bryce huff be on another team, John Franklin, Myers, Quentin Jefferson.

Al Woods.

They didn't really have much urgency to get Hassan Reddick done.

And what I watched last night was a.

Team that just got bullied, absolutely manhandled.

And Mike Robinson's in the studio, he knows Robert Sala.

Robert Sala is a defensive coach, and you guys know Jeff Olbrick, he's a defensive There's a lot of pride in that room, a lot of alpha pride, a lot of manhood, a lot of hey, we're gonna we might not be the best team, but we're gonna be the toughest team.

They weren't last night. Look the Niners.

They had their way with the Jets, and we're showing Rogers. I think the offensive second, Like you said, Jamie, they barely got in the field. It wasn't even like they had a chance. Every third down it felt like Heardy had someone open and found them, and every second in short, it seemed like Jordan Mason just moved the chains. I woke up to a text from my friend Sam. It's the season taking over the Jets. He's like, I didn't sleep, I feel nauseous. It's not that we lost, it's the way we lost.

Now, Rogers is right. The scheduling gods did then no favors at the league office.

You give them a Monday night game in San Francisco that's tough, quick turnaround in Tennessee on the road, that's tough, and then a quick turnaround Thursday night game against the Patriots. Three games in ten eight it's not great. But I don't care how rested, how not rested, whatever. You you can't be bullied because thats supposed to be the identity of the Jets. The jetsos being read by a defensive head coach, and even if the offense is unspeakably bad, at least they'll be in these.

Games because of the defense.

The defense was nowhere to be seen in big moments, and I would say they had themselves pushed around by a nine ers team, And that's what would be most concerning. If you're a Jets fan, the identity is supposed to be toughness. If that's not there, well, then I don't know how you're gonna, you know, hang your hat on anything.

Last night, it's a strong tim I wan't even from I got mic, Rob, Mike, get in here.

What do you got? What do you think? Oh Man?

Look strong? Take Peter and I love it. You mentioned Jeff all But, the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets. He was actually a former teammate of mine and actually, whenever things we like, whenever we had bad practices at the Niners, I remember this one practice where yeah we got, you know, from a team standpoint, we didn't attack the practice, and I remember Jeff's starting to fight with me, and I got a feeling Jeff's gonna walk in that defensive meeting room come today and start a fight, not physically, but fight and challenging those guys defensively for the New York Jets, because I agree with you, Peter, I do think the Jets got bullied.

I do think they got pushed around.

Now we do we have to temper what we saw because this is Week one, and Peter, like you said, guys don't play in the preseason, so essentially this is still the preseason for guys like Aaron Rodgers and some of the older guys on that New York Jets squad, but this is the older team. I feel like that the Niners have a little bit more continuity in their offense and in their defense, and then just in their team in general, so they were able to go out there and put a butt whapon on Aaron.

Rodgers in the New York Jets.

I'm not so sure if Aaron Rodgers is not still thinking about his foot, just the way I saw some of the releases, some of his movements, some of.

How he was trying to get rid of the ball just so.

That he wouldn't get hit, which again, I know he's a little older.

You don't want him to get hit and things like.

That, but I think that game was full of van Rodgers still feeling his foot out, feeling his capabilities out, seeing what he can do within this offense. And they got to get it together fast because it don't get much easier.

You know.

They still got to go out there and play, and there's a lot of expectations and the way that this team is built, the way that they kind of go have went all in for these last couple of years of Roon Rodgers.

Yeah.

Man, a lot of jobs on the line this season.

You know, I'm so with you because I saw the same thing when it comes to to Aaron Rodgers. Like, I thought, his arm strength looks great. I thought he can make all the throws that you expect a quarterback of his caliber to make. But the one thing I saw him was as he was running, he was like running on top of himself rather than trying to run out. As he was moving around, it seems like he still has a little bit of self preservation, like I have to preserve myself. An injury like that can mess with anybody. I don't care how high the caliber of an athlete you are, it will get in your mind mentally. So you wonder how much of that is him trying to move around and not try to hurt himself again because it was devastating for him. But this defense on the other side, I mean, I thought Aaron Rodgers comes to the Jets, it's supposed to resurrect this offense because the defense is supposed to be.

Already set, right.

That's with Big number ninety five anchoring it in in trenches, you know, with Quentin Williams. But like Peter was saying, they just there was no sense of urgency. There's no sense of authority in the deep. There's no sense of pride. I mean for a team to go down like the forty nine ers except for that first series, that first drive, but to go every drive after that, and to score either a field goal or a touchdown, like at some point you got to like, heck, no, you can't just let it like you ain't scored on this drive. I mean, I just wanted some sort of disruption at one point, going you know what, They're not going to score on this drive. Nope, they would march their way down there, kick a field goal, march their way down here, and then.

Were touched down. Kyle knows this defense.

I mean, you know, Kyle knows this defense.

He understands kind of the Robert solid all big structuring what.

They're trying to do.

They were together before, they were together before, so if he understands it. But to me, it's it's the one on one blocks, it's the it's the pushing guys two three yards down the football field sometimes some of these holes, I mean the Niner backs wouldn't get touched to five six yards down the football field.

To me, that is what And the scheming too.

You saw there are certain times just the way they were scheming up that defense on the offensive line. I'm looking at Big Trent Williams, I mean just manhlding other pro dues like that, like you just that's just not to put on.

It happened that way.

You can get the best office live in the damnily.

Don't give him no camp. I think that.

I think the frustrating thing for all of us who've been talking so much Rogers for the last two years is that the letter grade is an ABCD or F. It's if we're incomplete. I don't feel like we really got to see what he's capable of. Not only was he not on the field a lot, he wasn't pressured very much. He barely had to do any scrambling at all. There was no runs, nothing like that. So I don't really know what he has. He threw some bullets and that's great. I still feel like we're gonna find out more next week. But I think it's important to say this. I don't want us to be and I mean all of us. I do not want us to be the overreaction show of notes. I really feel strongly about this, and I do think, and I've said it for years, Week one is very misleading. Look no further than Aaron Rodgers. He's gotten shellacked a few times Week one. I remember him losing by five touchdowns to a Jamis Winston Saints team and he ended up winning thirteen games.

It happens. I think it's a very very tough draw.

And if I know, there's a whole industry of people this morning who are gonna scream about the Jets are terrible, the same old Jets. The Jets suck and the Giants suck. And it's fine if you want to do that. There's a living to be made. I don't want us to do that because anybody's screaming that this morning, do you really not think they're gonna beat the Titans next week. Do you not think they're gonna beat the Patriots in Week three? Okay, So then they're two and one and it's fine, and then they played the Broncos and they're probably three and one.

It's folly just to say that they're screwed.

And I think there's a deliciousness to say that, and it's fun and it's happy, and everybody reacts, and that's fine.

We all do it here and there.

I just don't want this morning for us to say the Jets are done, the season's over.

No, Rogers showed really good flashes. Do you not believe?

Suddenly in sauce, Gardner and Quinn Williams and his brother Quinn said, like, those guys are all good. They didn't forget how to play football. It's a very tough team and a very tough, weird Week one. They'll be back next week. I know it's fun to say the Jets sucks, same old Jets. It's just I don't think it's true. And if you don't say it, okay, it's.

A good reminder, Kyle Frankly, because it feels so easy. It's the low hanging fruit to come out here and say just defense, you're terrible, Rodgers, You're never going to get it back. And the Fredaye Ninders are great and they're going to go back to Zuper Bowl. It's too easy to do that at this point. I do feel like Aaron Rodgers is baiting us though, into saying things like that, because it's classic Aaron Rodgers, who's been playing football for twenty years, to just let us lull us into this. So the Jets are six and eight, Oh, they're seven and eleven. He's lulling us into buy Halloween him saying, but we'll still make the playoffs.

Allah.

He did this in years past where his Packers teams were down and out and he said, I will stand by this. This team will be in the postseason. And they went on the ridiculous run that they did in the NFC playoffs that year.

This is him, I think.

And there was a Netflix trailer released of a show last night. We're going to go inside the brain of Aaron Rodgers. Do you want to go inside his brain? We're about to watch us unfold this season. So, Kyle, I think it's a healthy reminder to not let this man think that he is showing us his first card, his only card on Monday Night Football. He's got a full deck locked and loaded for this season as the Jets move forward.

We do, yes, Jammie.

If the if the Titans smacked the Jets around open season, Torchum Torchum doing the radio thing, We'll all scream about it like we do.

That's for real, don't just two weeks?

Is that? Is that?

The is that the time?

The team depends on and the opponent.

Do you got?

I will say that the forty nine ers freaking loaded, and they were top to bottom loaded. And I'm talking about you know, every single position looked like they were dialed in and they were three deep at all of them. I am so blown away by how good they looked. And I'll tell you who we haven't mentioned all morning. Rock Purty was sensational and that guy's been get plaid and that's what he always does. And I don't know I had I had the Niners not winning the NFC West.

You know, you know you know what we haven't mentioned. You know who else we haven't mentioned? Brandon Nyuk Wait till Brandy. Now you gets into full fourth, that's gonna be real scary.

You know who else.

We haven't mentioned.

Mike Gee vibe. What's happening in.

The news in the NFL world.

I'm good, I'm good.

I'll just stay out of the mix.

I got no problem with that.

But thank you very much Jamie for bringing me in. So I'll do what I'm here to do, which is kind of run down a couple of injuries. Let's start with those forty nine ers who are so loaded. They didn't have Christian McCaffrey, and yet somehow it didn't matter. Now, will McCaffrey play this coming week against the Vikings, Sam Darnold revenge game lost? Sort of, not really, But will McCaffrey play.

It's tough to predict.

Even Kyle Shanahan said he thought he was going to play against the Jets up until the day of the game, regardless of what Jordan Mason said in the postgame interview with ESPN.

This injury kind of comes and goes.

My understanding is is there's.

A form of tendonitis here with the calf and the achilles that McCaffery has been dealing with. So they'll see how he does throughout the week. Shanahan's saying that the injury is at least getting better. Lamar Jackson meanwhile, did not practice on Monday, but the Ravens quarterback is expected to be fine.

From what I'm told, He's a little sore after.

Rushing as many times as he did against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the hopes is he will practice and be ready to go against the Raiders.

Then there's Jordan Love.

Our Tom Pellisero had reported three to six weeks or so for that mcl injury that he has, while the Packers are not placing him on injured reserve, which would knock him out for four weeks, which pretty much confirms that they hope that he will be back within that period of time, but they want to make sure that when he does get clear, and when he does return, he'll be able to protect himself and not hurt himself further.

If he misses two games, that means we're going to get him a week.

Willis revenge game, a real revenge game against the Tennessee Titans. Willis going to be the starter while Jordan Love is down, with Sean Clifford serving as the backup.

According to Lafloor, Jamie, all right, we're excited to have on our next guests after a week one a lot of insights and a lot of people jumping to conclusions. But we get to reality when we bring in our guy, three time Lombardi winner, mister Scott.

Scott, what's going on?

Good morning?

I love that old trapper was going to do my hair this morning, Jamie, but he didn't show up.

As a talented artist shaved it off. I love that, all right.

So I started the show doing flips about Jordan Mason and how he wowed the nation last night, twenty eight carries got a touchdown and absolutely dominated. The New York Jets got the start in place of an injured Christian McCaffrey. During the broadcast, and we had that visual of him. Joe and Troy mentioned forty nine Ers running backs coach Bobby Turner, But Scott, you might have been one of the only people out there who were not surprised to see so much Bobby Turner footage during the game. This guy, well tell us a little bit about Bobby Turner, the running backs coach for San Francisco.

So, Peter, it was great, and I'm thankful that you brought the Shanahan lineage and how Bobby had worked with both of the Shanahans. In fact, it's been thirty years, the last thirty NFL season that Bobby Turner has worked with either Kyle or Mike Shanahan. And I love that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman brought him up because he's truly one of the great all time assistant coaches in the NFL. Seventy five years old, but he has now had twenty seven running backs, different running backs that rushed for one hundred yards in a game.

Over the seasons that he's been coaching.

And seventeen of those players that we talk about the rush for one hundred yards, Seventeen of.

Those players were draft on the fourth round or later. Six were rookie free agents.

And you know, I got a chance to spend time with Bobby in Atlanta when Kyle Shanahan was our offensive coordinator, and I got to tell you, I watched him coach. But what he did better than almost any coach that I've been around is the fact that he evaluated all the players in the draft and got players, you know, through recruiting and really sold players.

To the scouting stuff. I remember there was a time where Bobby was locked in his office all the time. I said, Kyle, what's what's with this guy?

During you know, Wes, we're getting ready for the draft, he was on the phone calling and doing interviews with every single one of the players that he wanted on his list. Bobby Turner one of the great assistant coaches in the NFL.

For sure.

I love hearing that story.

To celebrates we have to talk about Bears fans a little bit, Scott, because I don't know if they know whether to celebrate or not. They won a game, they're one to zero and Caleb Williams I think the word is maybe underwhelming.

He was mistake free.

He didn't turn it over, but he didn't really make any big plays either. What was it like you think to watch that game for Ryan Poles, the GM or the McCaskey, faumidly everyone responsible for bringing Caleb there? They won, but the takeaways are hard to get your fingers into for Caleb.

What do you think, Kyle?

Here's the thing is I think that sure there, I don't want to say frustrated, but they probably wanted more for Caleb for sure. But here's what is so evident about that football team and why Bears fans Bears front office, Bears owner, they should all be excited because they have built a terrific football team. Ryan Poles has put a terrific staff together, He's put a terrific organization together, and he's built an incredible roster. Because what happened was was Caleb Williams clearly was not playing that well. A lot of things that were frustrating.

Batted balls, a lot of rookie stuff. But what happened. Here's a team that's down seventeen to nothing.

They had the wherewithal to come back win the game, but they win it through defense, special teams. And when you win a game through special teams, here's what it means, generally speaking, it means that you have a really deep roster with a lot of good players. So Ryan Poles has now had three years to build this football team, prepare the defense, prepare the special teams, and have a terrific roster. Callub Williams is an incredible talent. He's going to come along. He's going to be a fine football player. But if I'm a Bears fan, or if I'm anyone related to the Bears, I'm excited. Ryan Polls and his assistant GM Ian Cunningham had done and put together on that roster.

Good things are coming for the Bears, for sure.

Scott was going on, boss man, good to see you man.

Good to hear your voice. Man, you're awesome man. What's going on man?

Great to see you, Mike Rob. Great to see you. Sorry, sorry I just had that. Great to see you, my brother.

Great.

It's all good man.

It's a shame you're not running a team. But you know, we're not gonna get into all that right now. We're doing some TV right now. But you know, the Patriots they got that win. Man, what's going on with them? You you drafted girod Mayo. Talk about some takeaways from the Patriots getting that first.

Win, you know, Mike Rob, the biggest takeaway was that football team the other night or the other day played just like Girod Mayo. They were physical, they were tough, they responded to situational football. They did everything that they had to do to win the game, and truly they did nothing to lose the game.

And that was the key part. Jacoby Brissett did a terrific job as the quarterback.

He didn't make any mistakes, he didn't do anything to lose the game. They made plays on special teams, they made plays on defense. You know, they caused these two turnovers by the Bengals. That was a critical one down on the goal line. But when they made those turnovers, they scored six points off of those turnovers.

And here's an interesting fact.

Last year, the Cincinnati Bengals led the entire NFL with the fewest number of fumbles.

They had two across the entire season.

They had two fumbles in the first three quarters of this game that led to Patriots points.

So the Patriots and Girad BeO and you know, what they did was incredible.

But the other person I want to mention is Ramandre Stevenson, who did a fabulous job of keeping that game physical and when there were key moments, they made sure it wasn't just good plays. They made good plays at key moments. You know, I heard Peter talking a little bit earlier about it being Rose season still down in New York. I think what the Patriots showed is up in New England and on Nantucket where I'm at, it's not Rose season. But I did confirm with John bonjo and Jesse bon Jovi Peter it is still Rose season down in the Hamptons where they're serving the Hampton Water and it looked like they both played that way.

Hey, Scott me, that's some real rich cities. You're dropping over there, man and tuck it Hamptons and hey, you understand pro personnel. This first week you're looking at the rookie quarterbacks. What's your assessment on these rookie quarterbacks bow Knicks and Jaydon Daniels and Caleb Williams. What's your overall assessment?

You know, I think it's always important when you evaluate players, you always have to do it contextually, particularly quarterback situations. Right now in the NFL, the standard is CJ Stroud, Right he is the most recent, he's the most successful. What he did last year, his play was spectacular. But I also want to talk about this with c J.

Stroud.

Last year was the third season of the buildout that Nick Casserio had been doing for the Houston Texans, and last year in twenty twenty three, of the eighty one different players that played for the Texans last year, seventy four of them ninety one percent were guys that Nick had brought to the team. I bring that up because CJ. Stroud made it happen last year. He was also surrounded by a really good roster. What I'll say now about the rookies this year, you're looking at a guy in terms of the talking about I'm sorry the Chicago Bears. Their roster is now in their third year of the build between Ryan Poles and Ian Cunningham. So to me, Williams is going to have a really good chance to develop. Again, we saw that this week because he has a good roster around him. When you look at bo Nicks, they're only in the second year of their rebuild with George Peyton and their head coach Sean Payton. Now you look at Jaden Daniels, Jayden Daniels is looking at a new head coach, a first time GM who's a new JAM and a new owner. So to me, trying to compare these quarterbacks and their rookie seasons and how they're going to perform then.

Really have to be put in context.

To me, I think the guy, once he gets on track is that's going to show it is Caleb Williams, because again he has such a good football team around him.

Different but similar to c. J. Stroud, who was just a rare performer in his rookie season.

I was going to jump in and say I think c J. Stroud set this bar. But even when we went back and looked at c J.

Stroud's numbers, they lost Week one last year and he had one of these dream seasons that were unheard of, unprecedented, So I'd say patients as well.

Right, yes, absolutely, And again you're right, he lost his opener. He passed for over two hundred yards. He had a solid but not spectacular game. So again I think as we watch the quarterbacks, the players the quarterbacks this year that have the best roster around them and the best culture are going to have the chance to succeed.

And I think that's Caleb Williams. So again, to me, CJ. Stroud what he did last year, it happened incrementally, just like you're saying, Peter.

So, we had the kickoff game Thursday night. There was Friday night, but then come Sunday afternoon, it's America's Game of the Week and it's on Fox, and Tom Brady showed up at the stadium and there was a lot to focus on between the Browns and the Dallas Cowboys and Rob you had to take last last segment last Hour the morning is a running all together at this point that if someone were to wake you up after the weekend and you said, hey, guess what, the Cowboys just dominated. What made you feel that way about the Cowboys?

Yeah, I thought it was just they were negative. I thought they would be negatively distracted. I mean, everybody talking about Dak being paid and he's going to be there after this season. To me, probably one of the best, if not the best, defensive player in all of football, and Michael Parsons still looking for a contract, still not being paid. C. D.

Lamb just came into the.

You know, just got his contract done not too long ago, went near all all throughout the off season and throughout training camps. With the chemistry, you know, the questions were chemistry with that. I thought all of that would distract this team.

It.

You know, Jerry got some business things done, got cde Lamb paid, that got broke completely off. Oh my goodness. Timing and free agency is amazing crazy, Oh my goodness.

It what a time to be a quarterback.

But anyway, they got all of that done and then Dak went.

Out here just operated like I thought.

The play calling was amazing, Mike McCarthy show was in his bag with his play calling. And I can't say enough about Cdee Lamb, like not being there throughout training camp and not being able to get the chemistry down with Dak and he got I mean, he led the team in targets and catches and it looked like he had been there since day won.

So the fact that they.

Ran so efficiently, and I know the Cleveland Browns had something to do with that too, Yeah, I was just surprised. I mean, overall, great job by the Dallas Cowboys.

You know, I find myself sometimes being the victim of the moment because this happened last night and we do a show every single day.

We're not a weekly show.

And in the summer we spoke so much about the discontent in Dallas and the contract issues in Dallas, and the lack of new weapons in Dallas, and the discontent in San Francisco and the lack of continuity with the quarterback if the receiver is not there. That I came on the show at the first week of the season and I'm like, I don't love the vibes in Dallas or San Francisco. Then you play the games and you're like, Oh, ceedee, Lamb's one of the best wide receivers in all of football. Oh, Trent Williams is still the best left tackle in all of football. Like the Cowboys in the forty nine, Ers silenced a lot of critics, including myself, who had my doubts going into it because of what we talked about for two months going into the season.

Guess what, those.

Rosters are loaded. Those teams are really good. And I got to say I was wrong coming out of the gates. I took the Browns and the Jets to win those games. I couldn't have been more off.

I'm Peter.

I hate to say that, but that's the weak ones all about. It's about being completely off. I wasn't, though, not for the Cowboys. Listen.

Of course they had distractions and this win. Don't though in training camp. That's just like, that's kind of what they do organizationally, and Jerry's goes through it and Mike McCarthy has been through I think listen, I think Mike McCarthy gets put down upon a lot.

I think he deserves a lot of credit for Week one.

He goes against the reigning coach of the Year and his team was way more prepared, way more dominance.

And that's with all the stuff. But some teams go to handle a certain ways. Some teams don't.

There's always some kind of contract drama with the Cobley It's just just who they are. It's just in their fabric. But they don't show up and lay eggs. It's they're not in the regular season. I think they're gonna win eleven or twelve games, as you're like, they always do. I don't just to insert here mad libs. Whoever is having the contract drama, it'll be Mike Enext, but they always win in the regular season. This just another year of me of saying, like, you guys are great, you're really really good.

Win a game in.

January and we can have much more fun with it. But I'm not surprised that they beat the Browns. Well, no, you shouldn't be.

It makes me think of the NFC East though, as a whole. As we saw the Eagles open up their season in Brazil, and if you consider the fact that what the Eagles did to end their season last year and what they put on the stage internationally, the Cowboys they got to go through their division, they most likely have to go through the forty nine ers. Let's just spin it around in the NFC East a little bit. Let's look at the Eagles and what they did on Friday Night. Do you feel differently about what you thought the Eagles were going to be coming into this season and what they put on paper, especially considering this unknown edition in Saquon Barkley.

Yeah, well I didn't know.

Well, I knew Saquon would have an effect on this team. I didn't know it be that damn fast.

Yeah, I mean you know what I'm saying.

Yeah, And you got to think that if you're the Giants owner, mister Marra, like he's looking at like, what do we do?

Well, we saw my heart says, it's like, I hope that don't come back.

They don't come back to bite me, right.

Butquon has the name, the cachet, the ability to force the play caller a Philly to call the run game and get you know, and help jailing out a little bit Againquon being there is a calming effect to me on that entire offense and his ability with that new kind of reworked off into lines and new faces in there's gonna it's gonna work.

Work wonders, but at all you know, it's so interesting too because I think there was a little bit of hesitation. I think there was the name factor of Sakuon Barkley, but there were a lot of doubts too. If sa Kwon Barkley had maybe a little bit too much wear and tear on him, and he's going to be the same have the same type of production he.

Had earlier in his career, but I want to question, no, there was there was out there that man a generational back and they're not in the best universe. Absolutely, and that's why one hundred percent, I think all all seasons just talking about you know, Saquon Barkley being a difference maker for this uh for this Eagles team.

You have time that you need to burn.

Let's do Penn State players with m rob at the table and you just to go all day long.
