GMFB Thursday Hour 1: Derrick Henry joins! Cowboys OWN Giants!

Published Sep 26, 2024, 5:43 PM

Hour One of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager and Manti T'eo discussing the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants on TNF - do the Cowboys own the Giants? Amazon Prime’s sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung joins the show and shares something nobody knows about Al Michaels, she discloses some inside knowledge about the Cowboys following two bad losses, and then she touches on the development of Daniel Jones. Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry joins the show and talks about his massive stiff arm vs. the Cowboys last week, he reveals his daily diet, and then he discusses the upcoming matchup with the Bills.

Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio Good Morning Football.

So great morning to talk about football. Here on Good Morning Football, we are live in Los Angeles, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. Those are our friends with the meat in the bag man Titeo. Just want to make sure he understands where we're working with our friends here. Peter Schrager, Kyle Brandt in New York City, Akbar Barsby Miller is off tasting taping American Ninja Warrior. So when he comes back, you're like with all of his football stuff. But we start with Thursday nights and the game being played and down the street from where Kyle and Peter are right now, Dak Prescott's in town. And it's specifically inspecting the fact that Dak Prescott this is a technical term, has owned the New York Giants in his career.

He's beating them twelve straight times.

In fact, the last time Giants beat Dak is in twenty sixteen.

Ugh, not a good trend. But we're not talking about trends.

We're talking about the current NFC standings and where we look today with this specific division. If Dak let's play a what if game does not beat the Giants for a thirteenth consecutive time this evening on Prime Video, the Cowboys would fall to one and three, leaving the Commander's up top and the Eagles at two. With that pool position, it might not be fair to use the term must win. We don't like to do it in September. It's a little uncomfortable. But for a team with massive expectations, with an owner guys that says I have a Super Bowl roster every year, it seems like what could the Cowboys do to be a little bit more.

Convincing on Thursday Night against the Giants?

Peter, I'm looking at stopping something on defense. And there is a bright new star in the New York City and he's not on Broadway, and he doesn't play for the Knicks, and he's not hitting homers for the Yankees of the Mets. His name is Malik Neighbors, and I think this could be a similar coming out party to the national audience that Jaden Daniels had his college teammate on Monday Night. Malik Neighbors has been sensational through three weeks. I mean, we're talking record breaking stuff. As far as a receiver goes. He leads the NFL in targets, he is second in receptions, he's fifth in receiving yards, and he's got three touchdowns.

Last week, he became the youngest.

Player in NFL history to have two receiving touchdowns. He did it on his twenty first and fifty sixth.

Day on the year.

He's twenty one years old.

This could just legally become able to drink, and he's already legally able to catch touchdowns past.

The let's go.

I was in the building on a Sunday night many years ago when Odell Beckham had the Odell catch. It was this The Giants got blown out by the Cowboys that they No one remembers that. What they remember is that this bright, shining star, a rookie out of LSU made one of these incredible plays on national television with Al Michaels on the call. Here is a rookie out of LSU playing the Cowboys on national television with.

Al Michaels on the call.

I think we could get one of them. I think neighbors can go bonkers tonight.

And if the Cowboys think they're gonna just walk into this thing and they'll chalk it off at the will back just always beats the other guys. Like you're underestimating not only how rough a defensive start the Cowboys have had, but that the Giants have an absolute dog on the other side.

I don't look.

I don't know who they're number two is at this point, Like is Wandale Robinson the number two wide receiver?

Perhaps Jalen Hyatt.

I don't know where he's been, Like who knows who cares for the Giants. It's all about neighbors right now. And if you are a Cowboys fan, if you don't know the name, you don't know the game. I think you're gonna realize awfully quick that the Giants offense so far this season has been hand off the Devin's singletary. Throw the ball to neighbors, Throw the ball to neighbors, throw the ball to neighbors, throw the ball the neighbors.

I'm excited for tonight, And.

If you're a Cowboys defense you better come ready to stop him, because this guy has been electric three weeks through the season.

No, you're right, Peter, and I'm so glad you brought up neighbors. He's been electric as you as you said in your piece. But he's going to continue to be electric this tonight. If the Dallas Cowboys do nothing with this run game. I know we've been hounding on their run game defense all week long, Mike Robin went in on their run game defense all week long. But when I watch this film when I turned it on, these guys aren't even getting set like they're running around. The Ravens are ready to snap the balln dv's are moving around.

Linebackers are moving around, and.

From a defensive standpoint, you have no chance of stopping the run when you're not even an a line. But I think this is They're going to be fine. It's just taking some time. Why because they have Eric Kendricks, who's been one of the better linebackers in this league for a while now, and he was He's paired up with Mike Zimmer, who coached him for seven years in Minnesota. So if you look at anybody who's comfortable in the system, it is Eric Kendricks. He had a good game last week, so it's just about trying to get everybody on the same page as him. Now, they do have a good running running game coming into town. With the New York Giants and Devin Singletary. I looked at the stats. He has forty two carries, one hundred and ninety seven yards and two tds.

He should have had a third TD but he busted.

At Jack McKinnon and sat down right before the end zone line. Yeah, as as a situational awareness veteran would do, so, talk about mylik neighbors.

If they can't stop this.

Run game, mylik neighbors will have that game that you're talking about Peter, where he's just all over the field, making circus catches, scoring touchdowns, doing all of the things that we've been used to seeing seeing him do for the past three weeks. So it's going to start and end with the run game, and if they can't stop that run game, it's going to be a long night for him.

It's a distinctive club, isn't it, those guys who go down at the one yard line? You with Jack McKinnon, Todd Gurley, Bryan Westbrook and now Devin Singletary forgetting I'm Lotte Bradshaw almost but then he can try it too. Yes, it's like it's that fantasy football attack that we all hate, but I like that club, and I love Devin Singletary. You know who is the one person in the entire NFL, if not the world, who I really hope is watching the show this morning.

It's a little early there. Maybe they're still at home, or maybe they're at the facility.

Ceedee Lamb, are you watching the show? Are you taking in what we're talking about here? You are a one hundred thirty six million dollars superstar wide receiver who wears eighty eight, who has the star and his helmet, And we started the entire show with a love letter to a rookie wideout who has played three games for your our trival. Peter started the show, but he went like this, Milik Nighbors has been sensational.

He went with his hand sensational. He almost cleared the entire table.

And he's right, Ceedee lamb, he has been sensational.

Where have you been?

Ceede Lamb, It's time to go. This is when you announce yourself as ho whoa whah. I don't give a damn about Neighbors. I am the guy in this game. I am the guy on Amazon. I am the guy without Michaels.

I am the.

Guy talking at Kaylee Hartung after the show. Ceedee Lamb had some incidents last week. He's on the sideline, he's yelling, he has a fumble, he has a drop. Afterwards, this week he talked, I thought really well about what he did wrong and what he can't do again. He took ownership. Well, now it's time to take over. Let's go seedy Lamb. Is there never a big time for you to have a big game. This is what the Cowboys exist for. This is what you were drafted for to beat the giants under the lights, wear eighty eight, go nuts. I mean, it's a really incredible thing that everyone's freaking out. And I don't think it's just Peter. Watch the coverage tonight. It's gonna be neighbors, neighbors, neighbors, and it should be because he feels like the new ceed Lamb and you feel like a guy who has been averaged since then.

One of the best things you have going for your CD is Brandon Ayuk. Trust me, because they're much more eyeballs than what he's not doing than what you're not doing. If Ceedee Lamb goes out.

Tonight and has four catches for sixty one yards and a drop hell is the ceiling is falling on them.

Have a big night. There's a stupid rookie taking your sign.

Go get twenty one years old. Rookie twenty one.

Years old, Piers, and he's the youngest player ever.

You're supposed to be one of the best players in Cowboys history.

Show it tonight. Come on.

Yeah, it's not a good start to the season when the video that we choose to use for you is being blurred out over your mouth on the sideline the ceed lamb. We want to see you blurring mouth out because of the catch that you made, because you have three touchdowns or something against your divisional rival. You want Eric Kendricks with your first defensive take no Michael Parsons on that one. You didn't want to focus on the fact that he's got some stuff to talk about with this Cowboys defense.

I look at the defensive coordinator, huh and the green.

Dot guy he talks it runs a place there.

Who's a guy that's communicating that defense? And when I look at a defense that's struggling to get a line, that all falls on the green dot.

Now we looked at Week.

One, they had probably their best defensive performance of the year so far, that was an away games.

As a defensive player, we love away games.

Why because the fans are quiet while the offenses out there. The past two games that they had where they lost has been home games. It's loud, it's hard to communicate where we're playing. Tonight it's an away again, so I'm expecting that communication to be a little better. I'm expecting them to be set, aligned, getting ready to go. I know they have two young running, two young linebackers in there with Overshawn Overshown and Marris Leu foul shout out to Marrison funny.

Sorry.

Marrison and I went to the same high school, same college, so he and I have a lot of similarities with our careers. But there's a lot of young talent there from the linebacker position. But having somebody like Eric Eric Kendricks there I think really helps them out when getting aligned.

It's amazing how the NFL world spends. Two weeks ago, Brian Dabole was the one that everyone was talking about not being ready to prepare for that Vikings game. One word terse answers with the media and how what did dabil and Shane do this offseason?

What the heck was this team? They just got blown out by the Vikings.

What is going on with the Giants now you fast forward just two weeks. Mike McCarthy is the one who's being kind of tersed with the media.

Dak Prescott's the one saying, don't get on the bandwagon.

Mike zimmers on the hot seat already after just two horrendous defensive efforts.

This is how the NFL world spins.

And when you're talking about the Big Apple New York City and I know we might overblow it, you could say, well, Peyton Manning was a superstar to Indianapolis and Russell Wilson was.

A star in Seattle.

Get over New York still matters, and that Cowboys logo still matters.

This game's on a Thursday night.

It's usually reserved for Thanksgiving or on Sunday night or Sunday afternoon.

This is a rarity week four.

I feel like it matters because of the teams involved and because of those simmering, simmering fan bases who.

Are not happy. And in the Cowboys case, it's going this way.

Giants, after last week it might be going uh yeah.

Feeling themselves at this point, and they should, Kyle, I would be concerned. Actually, if CD was up this early watching our show, or if Dak was up all week watching shows talking about.

How Douk has owned the Giants.

That would stress me out if I were Dak Prescott. If people were harping so much on It's like the Elusive sixteen never beat a one in the NCAA tournament until UNBC came along and they sat some guys down. So if you're Dak Kyle, do you not you want people to stop focusing on this pressure to win tonight because if the sky is falling for the Cowboys and they do lose tonight, like that streak isn't gonna help this argument.

Yeah, I hear that, and he knows that. I'm sure he's very pleased with how that's gone over the years. I'm trying to think, like Dallas is probably in the hotel right now, right, Peter, Once you think they're in New Jersey.

I'd say they're either in Jersey City or Hobok, either at the Weston or the w or one of the Marriotts.

You know, leagues, but they're up early, and maybe you know there's in the hotel. TV, there's Mario Lopez talking about the new cool movies and.

Then flip they fall out.

Yeah, Hotel Transylvania four, watch us back.

You know you got a big nights.

You know, it's like this, this whole Cowboys parade and circus over the years. Like I look into this game tonight, I really don't have many concerns about Dak Prescott at all, do you. I Mean, it's like we don't even we were talking about the defense, the run game, this wide receiver. We're not even talking about Dak because I think Dak is gonna be really good tonight.

He always is.

I don't know if they can tackle anybody, and I don't know if this super expensive wide receiver is gonna carry the load, because as we know, guys, they didn't really have any running backs.

They didn't really have anything.

So like if the plan for this season, I think ostensibly for the Jones Boys was the ceed Lamb was gonna catch one hundred and thirty balls and they're gonna try to just tackle somebody on defense, Neither a plan is working so far that.

Week one win seems a long long way away, believe me.

Is the Cowboys bubble and the media and the prestige if they lose to Daniel Jones tonight, another name we haven't mentioned at all. It's gonna be tough tomorrow one in three to see you Laterville. So yeah, Dak's played great against the Giants. I hope you're enjoying that nice hotel room. Dak play has never roommate at this point, right, probably just him.

Maybe you should have.

To be the same case, Peter, really quick, Giants fans, they probably want to get back in the building and clean up whatever the Giants left on the field against the Vikings. This is the next home game, right since they did whatever they did not do against the Vikings open the season.

Yeah, and the.

Weather is a little weird right now.

There's rain coming down and it's like it could be like an ugly night out there in met Life, which I think plays into the Giant style perfectly. Let's run the ball with Devin Singletary with our new offensive line right up the gut and make Mazzy Smith and that vaunted Dallas Cowboys defensive line have to really step up.

And Peter fire us up about Daniel Jones and we're gonna have a night from him, Like I don't know, to expect.

I don't know.

I don't for you to get fired up by Daniel Jones after six years. It's like, you want to get fired up by Daniel Jones. Then he'll do that bone crushing mistake and you're like, what is this again? Another opportunity to get a win? But he doesn't beat Dak Prescott. I'll tell you that.

All right, we're here on Thursday. We are so excited.

Kyle and I are in our hair because we have a guest in the studio. She's one of the best in the game, and she's a friend of the program, Amazon Prime Video, NFL Sideline reporter and you see her on the Today Show as well as Kaylee Hart time, so things.

The person who lives in La is not in the La studio.

But I always prefer a five am wake up to a two am wake up as I usually have to do out the coast for Today Show.

So speaking our language, Peter, I know, all right.

So we're gonna get to tonight's game in a second, but let's do the season as a whole. You've done now three games and the preseason game. What's been the highlight for.

You so far?

For Amazon's Thursday nights late.

Oh gosh, I mean vintage Aaron Rodgers at MetLife last week.

That was. This is ourn though.

We just kind of roll with it.

Right if you see a roach step on it, I adjust in my seat right in the middle of Aaron rat might run through our with a slice.

Of pizza in its mouth. Sorry, Kayley, a lot about Aaron.

Rodge this place.

But yeah, it was awesome just to see Aaron in that MetLife dave you home opener for the Jets last Thursday, last thurd That was last Thursday.

It really was.

But you know how our Amazon crew is, like our most fun moments come off the field after that game.

Now, I don't know what the deal is with some of these hotels.

No matter how hard we try and beg and plead and try to bribe, some of these hotel bars like to shut down earlier.

We're not looking for Ryan Fitzpatrick at four and am in the morning.

Well, last week we were staying at a not to be named midtown hotel and it's an East Coast game, right, so we don't get back till midnight something like that, and they're like bar's closing, Like please, please, please, We bought as many bottles of wine as we could and retreated to the hotel lobby and sat on the floor like the carpet of the hotel lobby. That's how much we love each other. Just couldn't get enough quality time together. And I mean wits like leaning back on his backpack is back support.

I'm just like Chris Cross applesauce.

We just had a blast right there at the plaza. Kevin McAllister was a former president.

That's incredible.

You guys are there.

Give give us something about Al.

We've been listening to our whole life. Just tell the people at home. Everybody knows the voice. Everybody knows that tell something you may not know about Al.

So I think everybody has gotten to know maybe the most popular member of our crew, and that's Ben Kirkstock right. I think initially I was a little hesitant to have this, this lovely golden retriever, you know, walking into our production meetings. And now if kirk walks in without him, I was like, where's Ben? And it's the sweetest thing to see Al cozy up to Ben. He just adores him as much as any of us. But Al has a real warmth. I mean He's a guy who will call me in the off season on a Tuesday just to check in see what's going on. I love when my phone lights up and it says al Michaels. It's the coolest thing. I save every voice mailing.

Oh yeah, the voice, it's so good man, TI, what do you got get in there? Hi? Kaylee?

We really love having you on the show.

I think for me, I want to talk about ball, especially me being a defender. I want to talk about this Dallas Cowboys defense. We've been kind of harping on them all week, but the Cowboys are coming.

Off two straight losses.

And the defense hasn't looked like how we've been kind of used to them looking for the past couple of years. What have you learned about that defense and the preparation going into night's game.

I mean, they're pissed.

I don't think that comes as a surprise to.

Anybody, but they're also saying all the right things. We talked to Mike Parsons.

And he's like, when you see us passionate and yelling and screaming on the sidelines, he was like, that's the passion and the fury because we know how good we can be, and we're not blaming one person. This is a group failure to an extent, and we're asking ourselves, why why do we not look as good as we could be? And I think there's a huge opportunity tonight for them to bounce back and show who they can be. But they're all saying all the right things in a way that you want to believe it. You know, you want to believe that they could stop the run. You want to believe that they could remember how to tackle. And we'll see what that translates to tonight. But their feeling is very much it's a good thing. If anything, we're going to put a positive spin on this, that this is happening now, that this is happening this early in the season, that they can correct these problems, move forward and not be making these mistakes when it really counts, when we know how badly the Cowboys want a need to perform.

Come January, Kaylee.

What's up girl? Miss you love you?

Miss you love you.

The Giants they had.

Not a great start to their season, and we all know how that feels like. Even in our profession, if you want to get back out on the field faster than most just to fix the problems that you had. They did so against the Browns last week, and when you met with the Giants, I would assume yesterday or the day before, was there a little pep in the step in the building of the gem and feeling themselves tonight to maybe pounce on a limp and Cowboys.

Team, Yeah, I think they definitely are, and that's a fun thing to see, right. Do you think about a Giants Cowboys matchup? The Cowboys have dominated the absolutely dominated in you know, recent past, and now here the Giants are the ones with the momentum, and you know, I think we had some funny conversations with a couple of the players we talked to where they're all like, you know, every year we're seeing more and more of Daniel Jones' personality come out, and I'm like, okay, well tell us about it because we don't get to see it. So I'm getting the stories about how goofy.

Daniel Jones is in the locker room. The dad jokes that he likes to drop.

Right.

But more than anything, the thing that the guys keep talking about when they think of the leader who Daniel Jones is is the competitor that he is. Like when they're in the locker room playing pool, King Pong Connect four, Daniel Jones wants to win, and Devin Singletary was like, that guy is our general.

He's somebody who you want to go to battle with and want.

To go to battle four And I was like that Daniel Jones, Yeah, exactly, And I don't feel like we hear him talked about in that way.

So yeah, there's a lot of confidence.

But they know it's the cowboys, right, They've lived through these losses, so they're not They're not too high on their horse. I think they fully recognize that this this could be an opportunity for the cowboys to get their mojo.

Back, and they know the cowboys are pissed, you know.

I mean when I asked Devin Singletary yesterday, like, hey, do you see an opportunity for yourself here a guy who is known for making guys miss I mean that's sort of his hallmark, right, he was like, I mean, they still got a bunch of dogs, like they know, even if the tape so far hasn't shown.

Follow on Daniel Jones. So I think it's really interesting their show here Jamie Peter and.

Yourself of all works sidelines. You guys know what that's like.

With a game like tonight, you have no idea who you'll be talking to after the game. So I like Micah Parsons is a great talker, A great quote like that might be a win for you. Daniel Jones if he wins and throws the game winning touchdown pass to a tight end or something. Daniel's not a great talker, So right now, hours.

Away from the game, you don't know who it could be.

How do you prepare for each one of those people or do you just have to do it impromptu.

I put some thought into it as much as I can. Like every week when we are in the van heading to the stadium, I ask Kirk, now, like, let's place our bets.

Who's my post gaming.

Because I like to get in that mindset, right, So is.

That actually place a bet?

When you say that, Oh, yeah, the exactly, I start taking it with money.

But yeah, and I think you know, in the way that.

We think about our preparation throughout the week, the guys who I make the effort to talk to, I try to build those relationships every week so that when I am standing in front of them, when they just had the best game of their career. That that there's some familiarity, that there are key points that we just discussed two days ago on the phone that we can circle back to.

So this week talk to ceedee.

Lamb oh see that'd be great some things that can bring out.

We could have some fun.

But yeah, we'll see, we'll see, right, And I wanted to talk to mylek neighbors. But let me just give a little tease to the broadcast tonight. I'll be interviewing the leak right before kick.

Ah, I I gotta ask you about this, Oh.

Jamie, Jamie's it was in that light?

Thanks girl. This is so I'm back on the sideline next week in London.

So I've been watching there have been added amount and you just referenced it of in game player or coach interviews. Can you just like pull the curtain back a little bit? What has that been like navigating that added It's not really at workload because I'm sure we love it as the reporter, but what have the players and the coaches felt like the end game with the coaches walk us through the added beats of this.

Yeah, so now we have.

The opportunity pregame to get a player, we put that request in early, and then I think there's a limit to the number of times that one particular player has to do that interview, Like Dak Prescott's not going.

To do it every week. You can't make that request.

And I think it matters crew to Crewe how many times you get that particular player anyway, So we put those requests in well in advance.

I think that's been a really cool thing.

I think it's a sensitive area for me to play in as the reporter because you got to think about where's the guy's mindset right here in this moment. We usually get them and pre tape that interview so right as they leave the field for the last time before they run back out. So you know, last week it was Garrett Wilson, the week before it was it was Tua. So I really try hard to put myself in that mindset of where they are in that moment so that I can get something good out of them.

You know, that's the thing.

I never want to put these guys in a bad position. I want them to tell me exactly.

What they want to say, and I want to hear what they want to talk about. In that moment, So, you know, trying to do that with Malik a rookie.

I got to interview him at the draft, so I feel like there's some rapport there, and you know, of course I'm going to remind him of the LSU connection. Even though I didn't go there, everybody thinks I went there. I just bleed purple and gold born and raised and bat rouge. I'll claim it all day long. But then, yes, the coaches interviews. I think tonight I will be interviewing Brian Dable.

Between the first and second quarter. Jamie.

I don't know about you, but I actually think that those coaches interviews in that moment.

Like after the first quarter, what maybe you've.

Had the ball.

You did maybe the most famous one last year doing Brandon Stanley when he's down fifty six to nothing at the hat and you've got a microphone in his face.

And here's the thing about that.

That was a really I think, proud moment for me in an inter way because they can always blow me up.

I'm good, they can.

Absolutely blowing up, and we can always say, you know what, it's good in that moment, like I got in the place I was supposed to be.

I'm telling the crew, hey.

Guys, if he blows me off, I'm not going to be offended.

I totally get it. This is a really tough position.

And I made eye contact with Staley and he gave me the nod, and I was like, oh my gosh, he's coming. And I just that for me, as somebody who still feels new ish to covering the NFL, just felt like a great sign of respect from Staley that he knew I.

Wasn't going to put him in a bad position. And in that moment, I straight up asked him, you know.

How would you characterize your team's play. I didn't want to characterize it for him. I didn't want to put words.

In his mouth.

I wanted to hear how he would describe the train wreck that we've just seen.

And he and he gave me that. He gave me a real answer. And so I appreciate those moments.

A whole lot.

We appreciate you tonight. Awesome work.

We didn't even get to here jumping off the roof of the.

Ready the Falcon roll.

The video it speaks for a tough okay, only repelled.

On the way out to commercial guys, I Kaylee jumping.

Out of the building in Atlanta.

I'm the only one.

I couldn't feel my legs in that moment, but they counted me down and I jumped right on cue.

You know, when the cameras are you got no choice what to.

Like Savannah and Hoda say when they see.

This question dying, they were dying.

I mean, it's always fun, you know when you're on set with the anchors, Like, we had a good reaction. Uh, we had some fun on Monday when uh we aired that piece.

I loved it because we wrapped up this Atlanta game and it's like this incredible finish Chiefs versus Falcons, and it's and like they do a quick probably like Kelly Hartton jumps from the roof in Atlanta.

Colin's thanks.

Jarko was texting, He's like, we're about to show the video. We're about to show the video.

We can't wait. We got to run.

We had Derek Henry coming on, so why boutaors do and then we'll see who you are after the game.

Kayley Hartson, thank you for joining us.

Thank you so much.

The Return of the King shout out Ian mcoun he loves the segment wherever he is, bring up the Derrick Henry all purple uniforms, Happy birthday, Grimace and the backhanded stiff arm right to the face, to the face.

I like this one because it was kind of backwards. I don't even know if he needed it.

It was a gratuitous stiff arm. And those are some of my favorite kinds.

It's a freezer right there.

There's the logo, folks, that's our Jerry West of this segment.

It's going to Baltimore.

Derrick Henry wins another. This is sector number six. They sneak upon me like that.

Thank you for my six angry run sept the cow, much love and much appreciate it.

Don't you ever sneak up on that man?

And here he is, l ray r King.

We been the need the great Derek Henry, good morning, my.

Man, good morning, good morning, good morning. What's up?

Eure up, dude, And we're so thankful for it. We just watched the video of the Ravens put out. If somebody sneaks up on you with the scepter, you do what you do.

You level them.

Derek, you have won this more than any player in all the years that we've done it, and You've always rolled with it and you've always been so cool with it. It means a lot to us. It means a lot to me. What does it mean to you? And there it is, what does it mean to you?

Yeah, I mean it's a collection of mine that you know, I take take pride in. I want six of them, a plan to win more, and yeah, it's a lot of fun. You bring a lot of energy to the game with your segment, the angry sceptor, So you know whatever I would.

I'm excited, so I know I'm doing something right.

So we're not as excited as we are. And let's get into this.

So you're having this great game against Dallas and you guys are really put it together offensively. Take us through the play because you almost went backwards to catch the dude and you caught him really good. Tell us about this movement and did you know you get him like when you get somebody good or you're like, hell, yes, take us through it.

Yeah. Yeah, we had like a.

Inside zone play and I cut it backside and no, h somebody dump up my feet. I broke that tackle and when I broke, I was like I saw a grass. I'm like, oh man, I might be gone, and I felt something approaching me from the side.

Now they put my arm out there and use my stiff on.

I didn't know if he fell, you know, in that moment, I was trying to get to the end zone.

And then after the game, I saw the.

Highlight and I kept seeing it and I was like, uh no, but it was a great play, a great momentals thing for us. But but yeah, it worked effectively for another time.

So what was that noise that you just made when you had that thought about that run though? Was that one of pity? Do you ever feel badly for the guy? What was that emotion that you felt as you when when you watch the playback.

Yeah, it's kind of like, oh man, you know they're gonna be playing that all week now.

No, no, he has to see that. You know.

It's nothing personal. It's just it's all business. I don't want you know.

It's never personal. It's never personal.

But you know what is is the touch that you.

Had with your Week three outfit arrival.

It was Chef's kiss, very well done. Ahead of that game. I do have a question for you. When you are planning an outfit like that, do you have the scepters mounted on the wall, like you run your hands across them at before you get to all of your thousand dollars suits or how does that work when you're planning what you're gonna wear.

To the game.

No, I don't do that, but I might a good idea wear. But yeah, it was just a I felt like I matched the thing going back to Dallas, No Planet cowboys, just wanting to be uh, you know, a little a little western as something different last week. I thought it turned out pretty good and then they got a laugh out of it. But I felt like it was simple.

I liked it.

Dude, you look great and you also look great in team photos. I don't know if everyone's seen this, and Kyle, I know it's just right up your alley. Let's let's bring up the running backs here from the Baltimore Ravens the team photo if we can. This is Justin Hill and Keaton Mitchell and they're on their tippy toes here. Derek talk about this room and who you're playing with here and how these two guys they're.

Like, we can't fit next to this doing a photo.

Come on, what are your thoughts on the room, you guys have because Week one, I'm watching the game against Kansas City and Justice Hill is gashing that defense on his little Drave. It's like, all right, Gus Edwards has gone, Dobbins's gone, But they've got a group here that can really run the rock.

Yeah, they've been you know, they've been been holding down here before I got here. It's the fun room. I feel like me and Justice compliment each other. Well, uh, you know, the explosively if Keaton had last season and him getting back healthy, him getting back healthy and you know us getting him back Like, as the season goes on, it's gonna be fun. You know, They're both explosive and definitely a fun running back room, never a dull moment, as.

You can see in that video.

Yeah, Derek, I mean you're talking about running backs, brother, and first I want to say how much I respect your game and admiration that have for your game. You know, I think you know, with us being linebackers and running backs were traditionally looked at as the tone setting positions. As someone who understands that language very well, what is your approach to a defender every time you get the ball.

Yeah, I mean, either make a miss Steve arhum run through.

You know, I like to score, so you know, my my approaches try to make a miss and get to the end zone quickly as possible.

But if it don't go that way, you.

Know, I just try to just try to run through them a stiff from which usually works effectively.

All right, let's set the record straight. Here.

We're watching the game and there's talk about Derrick Henry's diet and that this guy wait from about seven pm and eats a avocado and goes to bed. I don't know what the actual story is, Derek, this is your platform.

Set the record straight.

What is your daily eating routine, and let's use this as the point of record moving forward, so everyone's not speculating from this point on.

Yeah, I appreciate that, Pete. Yeah, it was kind of a little.

Give me a little too much credit. Like eating that four or five is not you know, something that I think every day is sustainable. It's some days that I probably won't eat until four or five, which is days that I'm doing body.

Recovery or doing IVS.

But most of the time I usually wait until like twelve to eat a meal. In the morning, I eat like avocado, spinach and kill right as soon as I get in the building. But all season I usually fast until like one to two o'clock, but four or five o'clock every day, I would be a stick figure.

That's incredible.

So everybody got he doesn't just eat one avocado over twenty four hours, and that's not true.

And stop, miss Reppers.

If I diet right, if I eat want avocado, I won't be winning these.

Let's go, baby, we eat souls.

That there.

Let's do it right now.

So we have now you've wanted so many times, you have so many of them. We really have like the greatest hits collection of all of yours. Do you have in your career, your pro career, do you have a favorite angry run that you've had?

I don't think.

I don't think I do because I plan to win more so whenever I have them all lined up, Jamie said on the wall, is the next one I can assess and pick my favorite woman right now?

I plan on winning more so we have to wait and see it's the next one, dude.

That is the perfect answer, and Peter was all over it. Tom Brady's always asked which was your favorite Super Bowl ring?

And he says the next one, and it's a great answer. However, Derek, I have some of my favorites. My favorite one and this is perfect. This week.

You against Buffalo under the lights, Josh Norman, a made guy who we all besides to try you, and you throw him into the fifteenth throw.

Here we go. Derek talkers through this.

Yeah, that one, that one was.

At a little personal, I would say a little bit. But you know, as I was going to the outside, the usually you know, they usually chop a dial up my feet, and he stayed hot and I was like, okay.

Here we go, and then the yeah, that was that was pretty much it. So he stayed high.

I was like, all right, right, let's get to the peace Day resistance. Jacksonville Jaguars still haven't recovered from this, Derek.

I'm talking about ninety nine yards of anger, in which you stiff armed every person on the roster, every person in the stadium, every person in the city. Roll the video of Derek against jackson Night.

Derek talk us through it.

Yeah, that was actually when we talked talked about this some years ago. We talked about going ninety nine yards right before the play and once I broke out to the left, stiff arm in one corner and got down the field and I started backup approaching me. I'm like, oh man, I can't go down. And I ended up stiff farming him and I kept I'm like, I'm still running, so I kept running and then I thought I saw another white jersey, but it was actually Corey Davis almost stiff armed him to the end zone.

It's just incredible, and thank you so much for doing this.

Just achbar or excuse me, man side, Do you have anything else you wanted to ask Derek I just before we let him go.

He's got a big week. I just want to make sure we cover everything well.

I was actually curious about something. You're going up against the Bills on Sunday night. I know you're not supposed to watch the other team's offense as they're operating, but like, Josh Allen is physical, He's hard to take down. You ever take a peek out if the crowd starts to build or not your crowd, but you know what I mean, like watching what he does and how he operates, and you're like, man.

Respect, Yeah, I'm a big fan of h Josh Allen. You know that's that's my boy. It's good to see see him balling. And they've been playing incredible football as a team. And you know, he's been playing incredible football this this these last three weeks. But I hope it stops a little bit this Sunday. He doesn't ball fall too much. But yeah, A big fan of Josh Allen. Yeah that's my guy.

Cool, big fan of yours.

You know.

It's the crazy thing. He's such a great player. He's the two thousand yard rusher. He could be a future Hall of Famer. He has six scepters and he might win another one this week. He might go back to back. Derek Henry, you are the best. You are our king. Show off that scepter one more time. There we go, everybody, let's go Derek, let's go get after it. Baby, Let's go Derrick Henry the King, You're the best.

Thank you for joining us.

My mas so cool. Thanks Dren
