Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good Football.

Indeed, this is Good Morning Football presented by the Farmer Zog live here in Los Angeles, the home of NFL Network. I'm Jamie heard all there is Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager and.

Ackbar Buzz and born Ck Barn right up here.

Here, fired up at rock Bars. Here, Kyle, how do you feel about our new open, new shots, Summer Faces, Summer Tan.

It's all working, It's fantastic. I love the new open. I love them less Ethers being part. You know what else I really love. I love the opening shop.

You're having a lot of fun with this.

I'm having so much fun.

I feel like we're high school kids and our parents are out of town and their house or throwing like a kegger. And that's what we're gonna do every morning, playing with the toys.

That's right, exactly right, that's two close.

Kyle's gonna grab that camera right on the lips. Yea, All right, time for the Lee bluff. Than all right, we're gonna go Cowboys. Doc naturallye Dak Prescott.

Is at camp.

He's in Oxnard, California.

Despite entering the final year of his contract, he is waiting on a new deal and R Jane Slater, who of course has been all over Cowboys camp, which appreciate so much, Askdak to clarify his comments. He had comments about a lot of quarterbacks that he looked up to that played for two teams.

This is a business at the end of the day. Yeah, it's a game. It's a kid's game that us grown men get to play. We're blessed. But at the end of the day, it's the reality of it. It is his business. There's a lot of money in this game. There's a lot of people that have to be played. As I said it, then there's two sides to do this thing. So yeah, I don't want to play anywhere else. I love being a Dallas Cowboy, love these fans. But when you look up and as I said, I've watched all the quarterbacks that I've grown up watching, they've played for other teams, And sure, I don't want to do that, but if that comes, that'll just be the reality that I have to face. And I'm always welcoming whatever's new, whatever challenge, and hopefully it's the challenge continue to win a Super Bowl here and the fans love him.

Great to see Daniel Jeremiah as well out of training camp. Let's get our insiders in on this now. Mike Girofolo joining us, Mike Dallas, big decisions to make. There's a lot of names on this list that have to get paid. Dak, CD, Micah, who's holding out? What's going on at their camp?

Well, CD is holding out.

Dak is there, as you guys have noticed, and they continue the Cowboys do to try to get a deal done. Look back in March when this really started to become a storyline with regard to Dak Prescott, are Ian Rappaport at the time reporting that the expectation was he was basically going to play out the final year of his deal. But the Cowboys along the way have been telling us that, no, we're going to try to get this thing done. We believe that we're going to wind up getting him back beyond this season. Jerry Jones has said that they did. Stephen Jones said the Cowboys did make an offer both to Dak Prescott and to CD Lamb within the last week. Obviously that did not result in an immediate agreement. Here, the number right now, the quarterback position is fifty five million dollars per season. There is a thought that if Dak Prescott takes us into the offseason, we could get into the sixties. So that is going to be a temptation for Prescott to maximize his leverage if he takes it all the way there. As for CD Lamb, he is holding out when we got a bunch of guys holding in. Lamb willing to go the more traditional route to stay away from camp. Now, there are mandatory fines, but because he's on his rookie deal, those can be forgiven. So he's willing to risk those fines. In the meantime to make a point here, He and the team continue to have discussions.

It sounds like.

They're having good talks and making progress, but we are not there quite yet. Lamb understands his value with regard to Justin Jefferson at the top of the market at thirty five million dollars per season.

Wants to be in that realm.

Obviously, everybody always wants to be the highest paid. Don't quite know if he's going to get there. So in the meantime, as Jane Slader showed us with this video, he is working out away from the team as the sides try to get an agreement done and get him back in camp.

All right, Mike Gee, thank you. We're going to hang in the NFC for this conversation. We're going to talk Cowboys. We're also going to talk Eagles. Because both teams ended their season last year on the same weekend, Wildcard weekend, it was uncomfortable to watch. The trajectory for both teams was wonky. At the time, we didn't quite understand how we got here. Now that we enter twenty twenty four, Peter, who do you think is the bigger question mark right now? The Eagles or the Cowboys.

The Eagles are fascinating to me.

They were ten in one, They finished the season one and six and the year, and they lost in weird fashion on a Monday night game to Tampa thirty two to nine, which it's not like one of these NFL films great games. That was Jason Kelsey's last game. I don't know if any Eagles fan wants to talk about it. I don't know if any eaglestan remembers it, because it was such a blemish on the way the season ended, and then in the spring, Jalen Hurts was asked, what's it going to be like now that Nick Sirianni, your head coach is going to be more of a CEO.

And Kellen Moore is going to be the play caller.

And Jalen hurts answer to the media was that's a great question. I don't know that I know the answer to that, And then the Phillies media it was.

Weeks and weeks. He's usually pretty schooled with the Medea.

And then The Athletic had an article a couple of weeks ago saying that there's a great disconnect between the head coach and the quarterback. The head coach who has this fire and brimstone demonstrative, let's go and let's wear beat Dallas T shirts all week, versus the quarterback who might be a little bit less verbal, might be a little bit lower key, a different kind of leader. They had their press conference as training camp started. Everything's great, everything's awesome, We're on a great page. Sirianni says, I believe this is a relationship. I'm watching Sirianni. When sometimes you have these coaches we rex Ryan's when that comes to mind. We've talked about this Kyle where it's like.

Let's go, let's get call it. It's great.

You're one, Yeah, you're two, Yeah, you're three, two, and then you're four.

It's like, all right here, k Sirianni's role is changing. Kellen Moore was hired.

To be the play caller and to be the guy and to build.

The audi the offense there.

Sirianni's more of your overseer of it all, talking to special teams, talking to offense, talking to.

Defense, kind of that CEO role.

I'm curious about Hurtz and Sirianni because neither one of them expected last year to end the way it did. And if you asked us in the Super Bowl two years ago out in Arizona when Jalen Hurts, I still think had, if not the greatest, one of the greatest performances ever by a quarterback.

And in the big game.

This was light years from that last year when we saw what they did in December and January. So I'm gonna say the Eagles the two most important positions for any team is head coaching quarterback, and I'm not certain where we want to be going into this season. Despite what they're saying in the prescinsses.

Yeah, wow, that's interesting and you don't like that, but I just wanted to throw it in there just to make it.

You can say they were interesting.

Ok.

If you don't say here is it's gonna be interesting, It's gonna be a game. Okay, all right, good baby.

For me, it's got to be the Cowboys. But more, I mean, specifically, the fact that you've got three big players who are looking for contracts and don't have it. I mean, we've got Michael Parsons, We've got Ceedee Lamb and the course Dak Prescott. And I think when I look at this and I see this, I know from a locker room's perspective, when players see other players getting paid a Lac Golf, a La Tua and all these other guys getting paid, that can lead to resentment, and that resentment can lead to bitterness, and then that can become contagious in the locker room, and it can disrupt the flow in a locker room. Look, Jerry Jones, you've got a lot of money. We know that you've got cap space to be able to pay these guys and get them the type of money that they're looking for. When you're as competitive, and when you're as good as this Dallas Cowboys team is, especially when you look at personnel, you want to pay these guys. I don't know why he's waiting. And from a financial standpoint, you're thinking, wait the longer.

I wait.

When you do the calculation, the numbers are only getting bigger right now. We saw for what in the last six years, we've seen that quarterback number jump from twenty eight million to fifty five million. That's the average of almost five million dollars a year. Yo, Jerry Man, you're going to be coming out the pocket anyway, So why don't you go ahead and pay the dude so you can be competitive and of course get a Super Bowl. I'd get another super Bowl because that's what the Dallas Cowboys fans are looking for.

Yeah, well, I mean I'd take a title game. My only question for the Cowboys this year is you can lose in the wild card of the division the even number of years, I don't remember if they're wild card, I don't remember. Love they do get to the divisional sometimes they do, and so maybe they will this year.

That's the only question.

I go back to the Philadelphia Eagles because before we even get to the season and with Peter, I still have a lot of questions about what happened last year.

It's such a big thing.

I feel like they need one what's it called, like a tribunal or like an oversight committee, Like we go off on the capitol and be like, no, no, no, we will answer for what happened, because, as Peter said, you're ten and one, you're the best team in the league, and then the only game you won for the rest of the way was over Tommy DeVito and a Christmas Day like nail Bierly.

Yeah, barely, and then they never won again.

I was with Lane Johnson at the Pro Bowl on the stadium mic and you're like, hey, Lane, talk to all the Eagles fans here about you know what, what's the Eagles pride? And He's like, yeah, that's not how we went down this season.

It was like a huge, huge buzz kill.

So again, there was no off the field disaster they had to put up with. The quarterback didn't get hurt. It was just they absolutely died on a vine. And I don't know if they can reignite that. But I have some good news for the Eagles fans. Obar last year we had this running character on the show last summer. At this time, I needed my cable adjusted. So this guy from Verizon comes out and his name's Mike. Mike from Verizon.

Well, oh, he watches the show I love Ball. He's an Eagles fan. And I go, Mike, how are you feeling about the birds this year? And he goes A storm is coming, and I go, what do you mean? They look great?

And for a long time Mike looked terrible, but then the storm did come.

Guys, I have to tell you I had some cable issues this summer. A couple of weeks ago, I called Mike.

Mike came in and as he's fixing the thing, you know, I say, Mike, let's talk birds. And in fact, Mike, I want to take a picture with you, and in the picture, I want you to emote how you feel about the Eagles this year.

So you're either pissed off and scowling.

He feels great with his Liberty belt, he's doing a six shooter and he said, hey, man, we're all set this year. So I go, Mike, you always zag when everyone's going this way. Mike feels great. Lifelong Eagles fan, he says, they got it. He says, we're all set this that's this year as a storm is coming, We're all set.

I don't see it, but Mike keeps it real award, I see it. I see it. I mean like from means it starts with I didn't even mention him yet.

Now, personally, I wish I saw Mike less because he didn't have to come out of the house right justin all that.

But that's a different start.

He likes and might cook you up with a couple extra channels there.

I slipped him a fifteenth Rainbow package and now he talks me. I still have cable though, I mean, what are you talking about right now?

We want welcome to the show cable real quick. You mentioned the Eagles in the oversight committee. If you could put people on that panel ask questions about how that season finished, who would you put them?

First of all, it's like, who do you want to get on the stand? I watched presumed innocent? Does I want to get Let me get big Dom up on the stand.

I got some questions.

Oh, I might be taken out before I could question him, but there's I want to ask him Seraani ownership, m Night Shyamalan.

Should be there. Bradley, Bradley Cooper should be there.

Every Ales Teller, Yeah, Miles Teller, Peter Schrager, everybody.

We had questions about last season. It's not just going to be we're moving on now. I don't know if you are moving on, you know, and we got to find out.

So does that mean just like by the table are we are you comfortable with the Cowboys at those points?

It's coboys are with the Couboys Wild Carter Divisional used to take your pick, flip a coin.

That's fine, and it's a great season. Which one is it going to be? We'll find out this show.

It used to be such an underhanded insult. Now it's just right in your face, take your pick. And I'm in January, all right. Inside training camp is rolling on. Today it begins. I believe it's not just rolling on because we had back together weekend and now inside training camp we.

Are in Miami.

You will hear from Tua up next.

Chiefs are gunning four A three peats. We are going live to Kansas City for news on the defending champs. Plus we're gonna hear from p Shregs on the Anatomy of a potential three piece.

Let's go look Cable's cool again. Guys. It's like Vinyl the only way.

One of their biggest, one of the biggest fans of the Chiefs, and one of our favorite people ever is right there.

That's a living legend named Melissa Ethridge. Always has spicy things to say about the Chiefs, right.

She is not only things things to sing about, they all right.

Last I want to see her concert.

Get out of here. I love it. I did on Friday.

Wow, what yes.

Time there?

Good morning?

Hey, we're back on Good Morning Football.

We're in Los Angeles, but that's Kansas City. We're checking in with two of the utmost professionals here at NFL Network that we have assigned to Chiefs training camp today, Stacey Dill's Tom PELLISERA.

Wonderful to see you both.

Good morning to our favorite to some of our favorite teammates, two of my personal favorite teammates. Don't tell anybody else, Stacy, Tom, Tom will start with you. Chris Jones didn't practice yesterday?

What's going on with Chris Jones? To take groinstrain?

According to Andy Reid, something that popped up through the course a practice during the week. Reid was asked about what the timetab might be said, We'll see.

We'll see.

My understanding though, I've talked to multiple people who have said that Chris Jones is great. It's not anything significant here. Is Chris Jones maybe milking this to get one of those days off that he was talking about.

Who knows.

We'll find out if.

He's on the practice field today. But one of the best defensive players stacey in the NFL. Not anything to worry about here in the very early stages of training camp.

Are you starting a rumor, Tom that he's milking this up.

I'm not saying.

I'm saying he started it by coming out and saying I told Andy I want some days off.

All of a sudden, he's got a very minor throwing strain.

He's on the sideline and practice Who knows.

Who can say for sure?

No, it sounds like it's a real injury here, but not anything to worry about moving forward.

He not only called out Andy Reid in his most recent press conference, he called out Brett Beach.

He called out Clark.

I mean he is He's a guy who's been in this league for a long time. Here's what I like about Chris Jones, and he'll get those rest days, and he deserves those rest days. Here's what I love about him at this stage. This is the first training camp Tom that he's actually had in the past couple of seasons because of all the contract issues and when he got that monster contract done and was able to push through it, get into the season last year and establish himself once again is arguably the best at his position in the National Football League.

They win a.

Super Bowl and now he's here. It is so great when you feel the energy around these Chiefs, when you consider the fact that they are going after history. Tom right, three in a row, three super Bowl championships in a row. It would be an historic feat. And when you have veterans like Chris Jones that are so bought in, Travis Kelcey so bought in. He called training camp here in Saint Joseph his sanctuary.

That's got to please you. If you're Andy Reid.

It's a really hot sanctuary.

I might add high ninety seven degrees out here today.

Guys.

It's always scorching here in Saint Joseph this time of year, and certainly today is no exception.

Well, listen, Stacey, we have to ask you had a sanctuary back in the day, and it was the Olympic Games. You were a member of the Canadian women's basketball team that competed.

In the Sydney Games.

I know you've been asked about this all the time, but it's Olympic season.

We love having you, we want you prospect.

And we got all kinds of pictures of you, Stacy.

So what are your memories and take us through some of this stuff. What's going on? Roll them?

There we go.

Yeah, I don't know what pictures you have. Oh my gosh, okay, so that is yeah, that's the two thousand Wow, look at my face. That is horific.

Oh.

There we are against Cuba. So we weren't very good.

So obviously you guys know that to get to the Olympics is a medal, oftentimes more often than not. And so for us to get there back in two thousand in Sydney, Australia, it was incredible. What I say about the Olympics, it is the most galvanizing, positively galvanizing.

Force on our globe.

And when you're going through those opening ceremonies, you are celebrating every country.

I don't know if there's another event that really does that.

And I can't wait to see what the US men's and women's because I am both. I am Canadian and American. I just got my citizenship this past summer. I can't wait to see what the men and women do today. That Canadian men won over the weekend and the Canadian women actually to know that.

You're also a US citizans that mean you are you know, you would stop spying on the other team.

Possibly I take a diplomatic approach, but it thinks The Chiefs actually remind me of like the US Olympic men's and women's teams, like they're that good. They're not satisfied and the US men better come with it. They had some challenges in their their preliminary I.

Want to see him loose.

Yeah, the South Sudan reference. It sounds really good.

And you're.

Enjoy stay cool and we'll talk to you a little bit from Chiefs training camp. But for now we say goodbye to Kansas City.

We welcome you back to the table. Peter.

I'm a huge Canadian basketball fan.

Rick fox s g A.

But let's go back to the table here because one of our favorite people in the NFL is here. Former head coach of the Carolina Panthers, former head coach of the Washington Commanders, mister Ron.

Riverelulations on the return. Thank you so happy to be back. Can you tell us what's the latest?

What are you up to?

And if you're just seeing the show for the first time, they're like, whoa coachront is there? What's going on in your world?

Well, for the most part is this.

There's an opportunity for me to do some work for the NFL network, and I'm going to be a part of this every now and then.

So this is kind of cool, right it is?

You know, coach, I got to ask. I know you're a big, big fan of football. You love football, you come from football, You've been through a lot of different locker rooms.

You're friends with Andy Reid.

What's the biggest challenge when it comes to three peating? Like, oh god, this is uncharted territory.

Well, you know, first foremot because it is uncharted territory. The biggest thing really is just the focus, being able to keep the guys interested in the regular season. Don't get ahead of what everybody's expectations are. I heard Montez is not a big fan of the word expectations, which I don't disagree with, But that's what the big thing is is you got to be able to control what the expectations are going to be, keep it realistic for your players. What they do in the locker room, that's up to them, nobody else. So the key is really just keeping the players focus on what's important.

You know, what's important this time of the year is training camp getting better every rep.

But Riot's changed a lot.

Yes, and I love you because you're totally plugging in the league now, But you're also old school. When you went through training camps as a player in the eighties. What is the difference between those camps, even the ones you coach, and the ones happening now.

Well, you know, back then, you got true to a day and you didn't have a ramp up period where you didn't have pads for almost a full week. You went right into pads and you went double days right away, And there really wasn't a limit as far as how much time you could spend inside the locker room more so then. I mean she was on the practice field and in the locker rooms. Now today there's a limit. You know, you get to the eleven hours in the facility. Now the players are out, so there's a big difference as far as those things are concerned. It's a little bit of different type of team building, team bonding because once, you know, back in the day and you know this, everybody used to go away. You would go somewhere and spend a month, you know, at some university, Like we went to University of platte Wisconsin, and there everything was different.

Everything we were basically in lot.

Oh my god, Coach, I don't know if you saw over the weekend social media, Kyle said he's about to run through a wall for this show, and I really want to team up here. Let's talk the bears in the mid to ladyest, Kyle, let's cook, shall we?

Yeah?

I already want to hear.

What was Dicka's thoughts on Dan Hampton's podcast.

So, coach, you just said, if you were in Wisconsin, Platteville on campus as.

A kid, there you go.

So take us back when media didn't exist. What were you guys getting into getting after at training camp in Plattville.

You know, we got into a lot, we really did, and essentially because it became a challenge and really one of the great challenges was being able to get away with breaking.

Curfew, away with breaking Yes.

Buddy, Buddy, Ryan didn't have the tape on the milk. What do we got Well.

One of the really great stories that I was part of was one evening Dan Hampton, Richard and Steve McMichael felt a few of us needed to get out. So we did, you know, Dale hop defensive line coach. He does bedcheck, We finished bed check, and then all of a sudden, here comes the guys.

Let's go.

We're going next thing. You know, we're at the VFW. Okay, they let us in.

We go in. We're playing pool. We're shooting pull eleven thirty.

Forty five had you know, used to be a proper country.

Yeah. W So now here comes the waitress.

He drops off a picture of beer. I give her a twenty. She goes, oh, oh, it's from the coach.

Oh yes, get out of here.

Oh no, true story. There he is with his group. So my first thought is, boy, we are screwed. Oh my god, we're gonna pay. We're gonna pay a deer price. The next morning, so he comes over. What's corters stacks him right on the pool table. Goes, I got next. Yeah, he's got next. So now he's shooting pool Richard Dent, Dan Hampton, you know, just hanging out with us, and the whole time I'm dreading this, just going, oh, he's gonna kill us tomorrow. So he looks at us watching. It's one o'clock. He goes, you know what, I don't know about you boys. So we got practice tomorrow.

So he leaves, We leave. Okay.

Now we show up eight thirty in the morning where we just finished warm ups.

He calls team together.

He looks at each and every one of us, and he goes, you know, if you're gonna go out and hoo with the owls at night, you better soar with the eagles during day.

One of the best practices we ever had.

Yeah, okay, So now comes the dread because usually when you come back to your locker room after the morning practice, that's when all the notifications are up there, whether you're fined or not.

There was on a pink slip of that I'm sitting there. So a couple of days later goes by and I go up to the coach.

I said, you know, maybe I'm stupid or something, but you know, you didn't find anybody, and he looks at me and he goes, let me tell you something, Ronnie, What you guys were doing was bonding, I said. He said, I had a group of my guys. They were hanging out together, just being guys. And I thought that's cool. He goes, but don't let it happening.

Yeah.

Yeah, I got a great follow up here because there's a bunch of guys who are hanging out being guys in Rhode Island this summer, and you you coached all of them.

Did you see the.

Pictures from the Kickley McCaffrey, Greg Olsen hang the McCaffrey Copo wedding.

Did you see the pictures? And were you invited coach? No? No, I didn't get the inviting.

You know, it was it was a limited menu probably for the most part.

But was really cool though, was the pictures because when you see those, those were guys that you know. When we were to gainst all those.

Guys and some really cool, cool pictures, I really appreciate him. I thought it was really neat to see these guys because these guys shared a lot.

They really did, you know.

We went through some really good highs and then a couple of really good lows, but they know what it's like and they were able to bond over that well, they were sharing it.

They really were the cool picture that we got to talk about those.

So I'm gonna Ron brought something in today. Years ago, Ron, you would have a tradition and you would wear different T shirts at your press conference and they had phrases or whatever. It was a really cool thing you did. So that's a good morning Football. We're like, we love Ron. Let's make him some T shirts that are kind of in our brand. One of them, in particular, you brought in today. Would you want to hold that up to the camera. This This is the one right that is the Ron very close to the sun on that one an album that was actually made in this right here, right here, and it's not called.

The Ronic but and he still has that from years ago, quite a few of them, I really do, you know.

And it's it's really kind of the neat thing about the tradition, is, you know, is to celebrate something like I've got the Olympic one on right now, again celebrating the Olympics. But you know, during the election, I'll wear one that says vote it's important, you know, and because I do believe that messaging isn't use your platform absolutely, and that's you know, that's probably the biggest thing too, is today's athlete has a tremendous platform, partly because of social media.

We were joking about a little bit, but it's true.

And so again, getting positive messages out there, getting things that need to be said, there's nothing wrong with that. And so that's kind of why I was doing that, just to kind of show the support.

It's awesome.

So we used to have you in the fancy box, but now you're with us at the table and it's going to be a weekly occurrence and hopefully more than that. So you'll understand. We really like to strip it down.

Here.

You wrote VET days on your card here today.

Why is that?

Well?

I was listening everybody talk about what Andy Reid did. And you know, that's one thing that you have to be aware of is you have veteran players, and especially guys that are important and do make an impact for you.

You want to be able to take care of them.

It sends the right message to the veteran players that hey, I do care about you, you know. And and again, so you know, hey, you got a little bit of grond Let's don't push through it.

Let's just take the vet day. You have to do that.

Especially, yeah, and especially based on what they're trying to do.

You know, you know what it's like because you have these guys.

That you're going to need and you're going to need in week twelve and thirteen and fourteen.

You want to have them around.

So at the beginning of training camp, in the middle of training camp, you want to be aware.

You want to be able to take care of those guys.

You know, we took care of the Thomas Davises, We took care of the Luke Keithleys, We took care of Greg Olson, Cam we took care of and Cam never wanted to take Tom you wanted to play. Yeah, Christian was another one of those guys we tried to take a note. He'd find a way to get on the practice room.

It makes guys want to run through a little brick wall.

For you, man, Ron Rivera, give us some ideas in the break on Peter and Kyle's vet days that you think because they're in their ninth.

Right, we're in Los Angeles, but we're going to.

Take you to Miami. Next check in on the Dolphins. Cam Wolfe is there. We're gonna hear from Sherry Burris as well. Plus we got guests on Guests on Guess, Big Start, Rammy Award winning coming up to finish this allar.

Welcome back to Good Morning Football. Sherry Burris here from our new home in Los Angeles. But yes, you're heading back to the East coast to Miami. You're seeing it here and are Campbell's is at Dolphin's camp. He is the latest on to a tongue of Ailoa and his new contract. Good morning to you, my friend Cam. Tell us what's going on with Tua?

Erry.

I want to paint the scene for you here at practice yesterday, Tua, in his first practice since signing that big four year, two hundred and twelve point four million dollar extension.

Goes to the fans and yell, show me the money.

Jerry Maguire in a scene that I think Kyle would have loved, is showing maybe his personality, his excitement. Obviously, this is a big moment for the team, and he reflected a lot yesterday about his journey. We know him coming out of Alabama with that hip injury. He's had injuries throughout his career, concussions, had to answer questions is he the guy?

Does he have a big enough arm?

The organization said with a big resounding yes that he he is their franchise quarterback and put their money behind it. And he shared great stories with us yesterday, including how he found out he got the deal. He was sitting in the quarterback meeting room and Mike McDaniel, the head coach, the general manager, Chris Greer, and several others were peeking into the room with a big wide smile. He came in and joke, do I have to get my pen? They shook his hand. He said he had a deal. Mike McDaniel gets him with a big bear hug so much that he spills his coffee on the coach and it's just showing you how much the organization appreciates him. Tua said he later found out that Mike McDaniel went to bat for him with the owner, something that means a lot for him. And now the movement is going forward. They have to win in the playoffs, the thing they haven't done in twenty three years. They have to play better in cold weather. But Tua said heavy as the Crown. I'm the highest paid employee here and I put it on my shoulders to lead us to that next level.

Yeah, big step there for Mike McDaniel to go to bat for him. As you said. Now, also at practice, you probably had to literally catch up with Tyreek Hill, but you spoke to him yesterday. What can we expect from this deal him and Tua.

Oh Man plenty of speed when you talk to the Cheetah. He is actually the newest member of the ninety nine Madden Club. And one thing that we talked about is now that Tuatungawailoa has a deal, is Tyreek Hill next. He only has one guaranteed year this year left on his deal. And when I mentioned to him, he had a big wide smile and said, yes, I do talk to this about my agent Durozenhouse about it. But the biggest thing I told my agent, do not get me traded again.

He got traded last time.

He was trying to renegotiate his deal from Kansas City to Miami. He said he loves being here in Miami, catching passes from Tua and waking up next to his wife in front of the beach, and so he plans to be here regardless of how those negotiations go. But I can't wait to see today because it's a padded practice for the first time. We get to see Tyreek Hill versus Jalen Ramsey and some of the Dolphins corners, and those battles are really heating up. There's a team Tyreek and a team Jalen Waddle. They battle against each other with their two receivers. Teams is tied to two and they're right at their peak. And one more things share. I got Tyreek going about the speed of this offense. He did reveal they had a race him and Jalen Wattle last year. Wattle technically won, but he said that Wattle had a false start, so he said he didn't play by the rules. So hopefully we can get a rematch of that this summer.

Yeah, we know you're going to need to be there. Also, maybe that was the unofficial. Time we get the official like they do at the combine, it will be settled. Cam, Thank you so much, stay cool out there. We appreciate the insight that we are going to stay with contract news this time out of Detroit, tackle Taylor Decker signing a three year, sixty million dollar extension with the Lions and back here on the West Coast, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford healthy again after dealing with injuries in twenty twenty three, as is his wide receiver Cooper Cup.

Now.

Stafford joined Mike m and Maurice Jones Drew during back Together weekend and talked about having a healthy Cup to go along with Pooka Nakua.

It's been great, you know.

I was able to be healthy, We were able to throw. What he was doing with Puoka, you know, and working out together was such a cool, special thing. It's what you love to see. It just speaks to who he is as a person, as a leader. So we're happy to have him on our team. Love that he's healthy. I'm feeling good, you know. That's what it's all about this time. You're just trying to continue to get better at our craft and it's nice to do it, you know.

Feeling well well.

Down in Tampa, wide receiver Mike Evans agreeing to a two year deal this offseason to remain with the Bucks, and he told Sarah Walsh and Gerald mccoyd he considered a couple other teams, but in the end it was his wife, Ashley who made the ultimate decision.

In the back of my mind, I'm taking Houston Kansas City. I love Pat Mahomes game. I'm taking those two teams obviously, and I'm obviously thinking books. So it would have been extremely hard if I hate for your agency to leave here.

But this is.

Where my family knows. My kids were born here. You know, my wife's been here a long time. She doesn't want to pack up and move everything. So it was really her decision is the reason why I decided to stay. And she loved this place, and I obviously loved this place. But when she gave me to go ahead, like we should stay here, no brainer.

As they say, happy wife, happy life. Smart man, that Mike Evans. You know what football is back in. NFL Network has every NFL preseason game, including twenty one live. It is time for some football.

Buckle up.

The NFL preseason start August eighth through August twenty fifth here on NFL Network. Buck out restrictions apply. It's also shooting on NFL Plus. Subscription required though for NFL Plus, well, guys, she is back, Grammy winner, chief fan and a longtime friend of GMFB. You heard her already this morning. That's right, Melissa Ethritt's joining us here next Good Morning Football.

Well, naturally you recognize our song and our beloved show open, but there is a spin and it's the voice that you hear and the oh yes from a Grammy winner and a chief superfan. And she's also on our show right now. It's Melissa, We just miss you. Melissa is on a tour right now. She's in Salt Lake City, but she was in Los Angeles a couple of days ago.

For your tour.

How was your show?

We got to hang out a little bit.

You were awesome, and then I worried about you and told you to go home.

You have children and things. Yes, no, it was great. It was wonderful. I'm having a great time. I'm out here right now with Jewel, and then I'm going to do some shows with the Indigo Girls later.

Yeah, we're having a look at us.

Oh, look at it. Okay.

So I got to go to Melissa's dressing room. She has a cart, right, She's got two rockstar carts. One is like of her outfits, which is like obviously, I think, and then what's filled with the other one hats her cowboy hats. She meets them herself really, And then I tried to do a trade with her because she had a bag of GMFB swag before we did. I said, can I have one of your hats and you take this one?

She said no.

I would like to check up on Jewel. A big fan of Jewel. I always want to save that soul. And I love that you're touring with Jewell, A legend in your own right.

I love it. Great tour, great ticket.

Good to see you guys. Look at you. Are you having fun?

Oh my god, you are fun? Yes?

And she does the voice at the beginning of the show. Every Blake Shelton wanted to do it. We said, no, Blake, you're up. It's Melissa. She's doing it. She's the og and we love your part of it. Yesterday Bad Bunny called.

Me talking about for that.

You know me, yes, you know our love for you on this show, but we also know your love for the Chiefs. No team has ever gone back to back to back and become Super Bowl champions three times in a row.

What to you is the biggest.

Hurdle for making history As someone who has made history in the music business since the nineteen nineties.

Oh you know what's the biggest hurdle just getting out of your own way, I think, and knowing you know how to do this, Josh, do it.

Just go one game at a time. Sort of like last year it was really kind of rough on us. They kind of went up and.

Down and everyone's like, oh, they're not going to do it, but they all got it together in the end. I think we've got a little better together this year, and I just think they just need to play one game at a time.

Well, you know what this is about you is that you go back so far with the Chiefs. So you go back to Marty Ball and all the stuff where you would get to the playoffs and be disappointed. But now it's like you're the rock star who was playing bars, but now you're selling out stadiums. So as a fan and as an artist, how do you deal with this? Because you guys win the Super Bowl every year. Now there's no suffering, there's no motivation to really emote, to write a blues song.

You guys are in the penthouse. What's that like?

Yeah, it's pretty great. We suffer on the way there.

Please know that there's a lot of suffering going on, and it was suffering until the very last play of the Super Bowl.

But you know what, it's cool, It's really cool.

I used to walk around, you know, with this hat and people would not even.

Know what it meant.

And now I mean everywhere I go around the whole world, this is recognizable and people will say, hey, Chiefs and you.

Know, or I hate you or whatever they say.

You know, it's a logo. Now it is a logo. It was a logo before, but now it's a logo. People recognize it. But the SWIFTYE fans they've also recognized it. They've hopped on the Chiefs bandwagon last year. Have you given them any advice on how to be a chief superfan?

Now?

Oh, you know, we tolerate the bandwagon people.

You know what, it's great to be a Chiefs fan is really I'm so proud of them. I'm so proud of of Patrick Mahomes and well we've got Taylor Swift and Travis and you know this to all of them.

Enjoy football. No, it's ups and downs.

No, it's it's such a wonderful way of just celebrating and it's a lot of fun and I love it and just have fun with it.

It's fun, fun, in football, whenever we change the play, we always call it.

It's called an audible. I want to do an audible?

Can I do an audible?

I'm gonna put you in the hot hot seat right now. You have a unique opportunity to be you know, to be added to the egot, right you have that opportunity? Would you have that? Would you rather have the opportunity to be in that elite group as an egot winner or to see your chiefs?

When a three P three pat.

Wow and ecot is a is a funny kind of thing that's not really real, but it's real enough. It's not something someone gives you an et award or anything, and three pet is really something I don't know.

I think I can do the three peet and then later I'll get the egott.

Okay, well this is.

The answer both.

Well, you can have the three P to which then you have even more Bandwagon fans. But Melissa Ethridge, we just want to remind everyone what you brought to our breakfast table back in New York a couple months ago, and it was an original song. We're just going to play a clip of it and we're going to make you blush. But because if you love the Chiefs before they were cool.

Just take a listen it slaps.

I love the Chiefs before they were cool.

Yeah, before there were cool.

Snappy fingers. Here we go, snappy fingers. Now I love the Chiefs before they were cool.

Ah yeah, well.

I like nice. That that was nice.

It's a good song, right it is.

I love Good Morning Football before you were cool.

That's true.

I mean, that's well, let's take us inside the process. Do you let the lyrics unfold as the season goes on, or do you have an idea, like a Xavier Worthy direction or something that you want to go down.

Yeah, well, it kind of depends. It depends on what's happening at the time, you know.

I mean last year, I did you know I wanted an angry run for Jared mckinnony, you know, And you know, it just depends on what's happening.

And I like to be in the moment with those things.

So I just wait, I'm feeling a Drew Tranquil like song this year.

That's what you think.

I don't.

I don't think anything rhymes would TRANQUI.

You'll figure it out.

I also just want to say about the egot, you know, Barbara Streisan and John Legend.

They don't have an angry run scepter. They don't.

You do, Melissa, you're the one who has that. So e Liza Minnelli never got a scepter.

She did that. I love that.

You have no idea.

It is literally in my room, next to my oscars and my Grammy's oscar and Grammy's oscars.

Where where can we see you next?

I was an upstate New York and I see in a giant sign Bethel Woods Melissa Etheridge, and I almost jumped out of the car on the.

Tour, Where are you gonna be next?

And if someone at home wanted to go and see a Melissa Etheridge concert, where can they find it?

Oh?

Well you go to Melissa Etherars dot com. All the tour information is is right there. I'm playing, let's say, in Salt Lake City tonight, and and then I I actually head to Kansas City.

I've got a show in Kansas City at the Starlight Theater. And then the Midwest is Betha Woods sold out?

Sorry, well I know people, I might be able to get your tickets, you know, And then we go to the East coast.

Okay, exactly, Yeah, on to Minnesota. I saw heading north from Kansas City to Minnesota. Melissa Ethridge my first real life experience rockstar dressing room. He practically played so far, that's what we're going to go with, and that's what because it was.

Right there, It was right there.

It was so cool.

Your name is on the wall.

You got me out.

It was it was parents' night out to see Melissa Etheridge and Jewel.

It was so great. Melissa Ethorts.

We love you and thank you for lending your voice and your talents to GMFB.

We love waking up with you every morning.

I love you guys are back, and I love being a part of you every morning. I love singing, So think of me every day.

We will, we will.

That's our lady, right there, Come home, you come in studio, all right, we'll hang out.

Good morning football, Welcome to LA.

Can't wait to see you guys this year. Welcome back. Good morning football. We've missed you.

Hey, I'm Von Miller and you know I'm ready for some football. Good morning football, welcome back. Glad to have you back. Good morning football.

Are you ready for football? Let's go?

Wo who those are all great and like I think we're really blown away to it was amazing and completely sold it.

And he's believable.

Guy's got like two hundred million bucks stars and he guys hurt it too, right.

I think he did that though before he got paid. Otherwise he'd be like, I need an next year.

Yeah, we got tweets, right, the people, we got tweets.

We are so happy to be back.

So with Seth Early, he's happy we're back, glad to have the team been going through withdrawls without this show.

Well, Seth, don't worry.

We're here for good now.

All right, what do you got our bar? Next tweet? You know, next tweet?

Here we go right here.

Not me getting goosebumps watching GMFB this morning. My morning's are complete. Welcome back. Here we go, Thank you Nico. We love it.

Here we go. My favorite, my favorite second call read tweets on air? All right, the Falcon.

No less he.

Shows that only read positive tweets. It's disingenuous. Look at give me something a little variety here, give me the next tweet.

Oh god, this guy says, yeah.

I know, Summer psych but I feel like it's one of the worst football shows on TV.

Just unbearable to watch. They'd use a broadcast.

To torture a prisoner to confess.

In other words, like where is the rebel bass?

I won't say watch this good morning footbossle I'll tell.

You we love you. I respect it.

Fine, we show a football hockey.

Because it's honest goosebumps. Did you know it?

I like the negative ones that was I didn't really forget.

He would have been unbearable to watch, but he had to.

Take it to the next level.

You're my favorite part of this. This is incredible. Look at all these acts, all of these does not.

At Peter Schrager. He's got Tom Pellissera.

More.

Now you think I have a burner fun.

I didn't think.

About that football hockey.

I'm sixty two and this isn't.

Just a positive negative back whatever live.

Look even at the children.

This is friends of mine in Wisconsin, Brooks and Taylor.

They are watching.

My friend texted me they are six inches from the TV. They are so happy. We are back with the justin Jefferson, Jersey on. I think it's a split household in the Latch family between the Packers and the Vikings.

Right, hey, akbar our first show.

Yes, I think you're awesome.

Appreciate him.

Hen you're appreciated a couple of Yeah, we can do a couple of hours.

Let's do three more, three more.

Let's not forget the real hero, the farmer's dog, Farmers dog farm.

We got that dog us.

Yeah, thanks for watching.
