Good Morning Football.
Hi, everybody, This is Good Morning Football presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky, live here in La all day every day. It's a Monday in middle of October. That's ok. Par Bobs should be a miller. Peter Straker, Kyle Brant, Peter, we saw you on Fox and your pregame show yesterday. You looked great, and then Tom Brady appeared on the Fox pregame show as well. But I was very confused because you were supposed to be a forty nine ers chief said he was in the studio.
How does that work?
Peter?
Fox unveild a hologram of Tom Brady augmented reality, and there were some glitches at it and straight hands like his.
Head is too big, like you're calling it out. But it's there, guys.
It's common where you can beam somebody in like the future, and Fox Sports is on the cutting edge.
Yeah.
Proto, that's the thing proto that's really taken off.
You know the technology name.
Yeah, who would you like to beam here at the table with us? Do anybody?
I mean anybody?
Yeah?
What do you want?
Anybody can work on it right now. On the commercial Brander Jean Sterotur, come on right here, let's talk. That's a random matter.
You're gonna say, Jelly, I know that's.
He's like, I'm ready, guy, guys here, you're here, But to business with forty nine ers twa.
Alright, let's go.
Dubbed this a Super Bowl rematch. Accept so many injuries.
On both sides of the ball, basically.
Perty, Mahomes and whoever wants to step up.
Kareem Hunter stepped up. Fantastic. What a story for Hunt. He's come all the way back and now he's their their ball carrier. The biggest moments Brock Perty looking.
Don't want to rewatch it you earlier report so.
That it's an a C l oh my good, not good at all.
Of course, Debo played one snap and was nauseous, and he missed most of the game too.
So everyone was down. Juwan Johnson was out. But this looks like UK is telling everyone the knee.
Meanwhile, Mahomes second and seven. I sent us to play day Kyle. There's some controversy.
There's a controversy that Mahomes is very good at working the sideline He's got many calls for getting hits out of bounds over the years, and there's a thing where the defensive players don't want to even lay a hand on him, so he takes advantage of that down the sideline where maybe they think he's gonna run out of bounds and then he doesn't. And it's it's savvy, but it is controversy.
It brings it back to ten yards by his feet or fifteen yards in the quarterback going out of bound.
Chiefs have never lost in this situation.
In this erow with Andy Reid going up against Kyle Shanahan five and Oh Mahomes versus Kyle Shanahan twenty eight to eighteen, they go into billion they're underdogs, folks. Afterwards, Patrick Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, had this to say about his team's philosophy coming into these games despite being under manned.
I just don't think it's normal for what you've seen from us, because there's not a lot of passing touchdowns. There's been a lot of turnovers, especially by me, and so I think it's just showing the versatility of our team. It's not just about me, It's not just about the stats and the light show and stuff like that. It's about playing team football. And I believe that if we continue to work, we'll get better offensively throwing the ball down the field. But until then, it's just nice to know that we have a great running game, we've got a great defense, and we're able to execute whenever the time comes to win football games.
And that's just not Patrick Mahomes playing all the hits of like, listen, I've been great, but I want to talk about our run game and our defense. The thing is, he's not played great. He's needed their defensive stuff up, Peter, and that's exactly what the Steve Spagnola unit's done.
Yeah, there's a ton of flaws in the Chiefs offense right now.
And if you're used to the.
Days where the Chiefs would put up forty and fifty points every week and it would be a shootout and they would just have to hang on to win, those days have long term. Last year their defense led them down the stretch. This entire season, their defense has led them down the stretch, and yesterday was again another masterpiece from Steve Spagnolo's unit. They lose players every offseason. If you're watching Thursday night, Willie Gay was playing for the Saints. If you're watching the Titans yesterday, Lajarius Snead is out there.
They go on to these other places year.
After year after year, and yet they replenish with new talent, and they grow new talent. Tramari Connor flying all over the field, Brian Cook all over the field, and Spags is able to dial it up in such a way where you don't know where it's coming from, but it's coming. Brock Purdy was down a couple players. Obviously, Au goes down with the injury. Debo wasn't out there, and we know that McCaffrey's not there, and he's been good all season. Perty's been good all season. He was not good yesterday. And a lot of that is because of the pressure that Spagnolo put on him.
If you look at the numbers.
Steve Spagnolo has had his way with this forty nine ers team. This is him including the playoffs as the Chiefs defensive coordinator. And if you look twenty points per game, takeaways per game, they almost get three every game. Everything you look at, it's that Spags has a way to just solve the Shanahan offense.
It was a cool matchup because it was like both teams.
Were playing with maybe their arms tied behind their backs at some point, like you don't have Rashid Rice out there, you don't have Hollywood Brown, there's no Iu, there's no Pacheco.
It's they're down a lot, but you got some of those dogs.
And at the end of the day, Mahomes found a way to move the ball and they scored their points.
And then the defense let it.
Carlaftis unblockable, Chris Jones unblockable, and then that defensive backfield, it's like they've just got young player after young player and they come in waves.
The Chiefs defense they're six and oh, but it's not the Chiefs of old.
It's kind of cool to see their defense lead the way I can.
I just say quickly, you mentioned the IUK injury and Deebo's out. Does anyone know or is there any even sign of life about Christian McCaffrey. Where is there the sideline? Where is this person? It's like, what are we doing? I don't understand. We are rife with insiders with information and sources. No one knows anything about not some player, the offensive player of the year.
The three they're three and four. This is go time.
The Rams just one, the Seahawks just one. You know, Christian hasn't talked about it publicly. Lynch has been close to the vest his agents Joel Siegel. He hasn't said anything like what are we doing? This is like one of those tough ones to crack. The hope was that we get to October, we get to November, we're gonna say, well, we're already October. It's time tobor Tony first, so hopefully see McCaffrey. But the season could slip away if we don't see him.
So the pressure's on that.
Like you said, three and four, they're out of that first place position, and that's a that's a hard place. But I'm starting to look at this a little different. For the forty nine ers, I think their season's done.
I'm done now.
I'm getting to that way about that. You lose Brandon Nyuk in this situation. Obviously in that game, we don't know, you know what that's going to look like for the future.
Christian McCaffrey, even if.
He comes back, you know, you've got double Achilles thing going on. How explosive is he going to be how long does it take him to get back into this situation? You know, Deebo Samuels out obviously in this game, feeling a little nauseous. The offense doesn't have the same variation without a Deebo Samuels, and then you remove you know, of course obviously Brandon Nyuk. I just don't see how their offense. I thought I wanted to see them mature, especially against a really good defense. I didn't see that maturation. I didn't see the different personnel groupings and other people stepping in. But I think it's also time for us to start calling the Kansas City Chiefs a defensive team. I mean, that's exactly what they are. Their defense is solid. To your point, I mean they had young guys stepping up, bringing pressure. Chris Jones didn't even have his best game. I mean you think, oh, when Chris Jones goes off, he had like one tackle, I think one pressure.
Or to Urrees.
But to me, it was the young guys stepping up. You had cornerbacks, a young undrafted free agent in Roland Chris Rowland Wallace interception, Jayden Hicks interception. There's another young rookie stepping up you talked about the young guys for this defense, those interceptions ended up turning into, you know, a touchdown or a score for this for the Kansas City Chiefs. Justin Reed got in there. He had an interception, three I iNTS. This defense is playing lights out carrying an offense that lack production.
Right, Let's call it what it is.
The Mahomes and the offense just wasn't moving the way they were supposed to.
For the Niners, I'm definitely tired of seeing this movie, and I know that they're tired of being in it. They're very banged up. I'm not gonna say the season is over, but I don't need to see them against the Chiefs for a long time. On the positive side, I love these I love them.
They're so different and they're so weird. Maholmes is like, he's like playing.
Terribly Statistically, he leaves the NFL in interceptions.
It's great. He's like twenty third in passer rating.
And not only are they undefeated, he's undefeated for the first time in his career.
They've never been six and zero ever.
And he's just playing poorly and winning every week.
It's maddening.
Can you imagine if you.
Look at mahomes stats before the game and said he's still gonna beat you every single week, and it's like he's doing it with that I don't know, like some wide receivers and an old tight end who gets some forty yards a game. It's so cool and so because we've seen all these iterations and I understood why when it was like they were a team of mass destruction in this giant war machine with Tyreek and Kelsey, like.
I get why they're destroying everybody. I get it.
This one's so interesting. It's so different. He doesn't even need to play well. The defense is great and kind of just makes plays awkwardly and sloppily. And I'm sending, how all you guys are talking and like I gotta take a walk.
Look how beautif fullest thing is.
It's look at this giant mural like it's in step Times Square or Las Vegas.
It's unbelievable. I kept trying to focus and everything. Everybody's saying, this is a beautiful. Look at this person's foot up here, look it.
Down and this is not well, that's some full back or tight end that.
Is the face of the sport who doesn't play that way, who honestly is playing poorly by his that average, poorly by his standards. And he's just like, yeah, I'm still kind of undefeated this NFL thing.
Nobody can beat us.
How does the bother you that he's stepping on his chest?
It doesn't bother me.
I love it.
Oh okay.
I used to have like unbelievable sports posters in my bedroom brawing.
Up and I'm going back, Peter, you on, come on, so let me talk.
Memorize every detail those posters. You look at them all day.
This is before a phone, before video games, and you would just have a Michael Jordan poster and you look at every fan.
This is an amazing poster. Every detail incredible.
Peter, sometimes at the holidays we give each other presents. I'm going to take DIBs on this for you. You know what I thought of, he said, poster. I had one that was Big Frank Thomas that had the ruler on the side and you could like measure up to him and see how tall you are to Big Frank and encourage you to drink milk and stuff like that. This is Mahomes leads the league in interceptions, league's only undefeated team. It's a wild time to be alive. This is my favorite version of the Chiefs during this whole run. Sloppy, ugly, brutal, tough and doing stuff like that.
I want this.
Poster too, that Frank Thomas thing. I took those nutrigenics. It's working.
They're great stuff.
That's also too.
You feel you, guys, feel good? I had I had a Larry Bird poster like the ball was on fire, like standing very short shorts at the time, and it felt very strange, and the poster was very large. Ian Rappaport challenge extended to you. You got anything on CMC. Christian McCaffrey, get in here out Yeah.
Let's talk about it.
Here's where we are in.
McCaffrey, thanks Kyle for asking him. So glad you did so.
The San Francisco forty nine ers obviously lost this week. They played the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Christian McCaffrey not expected to be available for that game.
Still trying to ramp up. Then they have a bye.
My understanding, really this whole time has been the target for McCaffrey has been early November. The first date of early November, which is November three.
They are on a bye for so.
November tenth is the first time that we may see Christian McCaffrey on the field.
He has been running on flat ground. He has been ramping up.
From my understanding, there have not been any any anything.
Bad with his with his reab.
There's really nothing pessimistic here as of right now.
He is all systems go.
So if that proceeds, if that continues in this direction, then we could see him November tenth for.
The San Francisco forty nine Ers.
Obviously, there's some other things to talk about, and let's get to that with the forty nine ers injuries, because there was a bad one.
You guys just reference it.
Brandon Ayuk, the receiver who spent so much time in the headlines this offseason for a lot of reasons. Would he be traded, would he get a contract? Always gonna be traded. I'm about to hit the button. Don't hit the button, hit the contract extension button.
Which is what happened.
Thirty million dollars a year and now the other side of it. He is expected to be out for the season with a torn acl and potentially more. This according to coach Kyle Shanahan after the game, he said, this is their fear generally when it is a.
Contact injury, you know, more tests today.
DK Metcalf for the Seattle Seahawks also is injured in ridiculous fashion.
I'm sorry, that's a.
Ridiculous catch for deebo I actually had a huge game yesterday, banged his knee on that last catch.
You gonna have some tests that. My understanding is this is not considered major.
Despite it being carted off.
A lot of guys get carted off. The locker room is very far away. They don't want people to walk.
As coach Mike McDonald said, it doesn't look too bad.
So general optimism for DK.
Like optimism for DK like a very detailed McCaffrey report from you.
Ian. Thank you. I kind of called you out.
I called the whole industry out, and you said, okay, Ian has the details. Not inspected to play next weekend's Dallas, then the bye. The November tenth is where they're looking at against Tampa. Bay Ian even said he's running on flat ground. Just a beautiful way to describe it. Thank you, Ian, You're great at your job. I'm looking at the wrong camera.
Thanks hey man, that's good news because they sure did need it.
They gave you.
I was gonna say to Feal this flat. So that's very hopeful. I'm so glad that he is able to accomplish that. Peter. Every week you pick a coach and this is not just like, oh, I think Andy Reid's great. You go deep and is sometimes like a special teams guy or something.
No doubt who's coach of the week. McVeigh had a masterpiece. So to Chris Shule, his defensive coordinator, was it this guy down in Seattle. We'll talk about who the coach of the week was. And Packers fans, we hear you. We're gonna talk Packers. My entire timeline is Packers fans freaking out.
We're gonna talk Packers wins.
Great win.
NFC North's amazing, and so is that guy Mike Tomlin. What a win last night.
The real head coach with Danny Smith at that team, come on, oh my god, let's go love him.
And Aaron Jones again. Fantastic the lines with Vikings, it was everything you could ever want it to be. It was almost a perfect football game. I know the Vikings fans are sad they lost but it was a really good game. You're gonna play them again this year. You made it, played them two more times this year. And as Jared Goff the MVP, let's get into it.
Why not.
I want that poster, that size of.
The homes poster too, and I want the ruler on the side like big Frank.
What would you put it though?
The Frank stuff works house.
Good Monoll Diggs before the game.
With Jyra Alexander.
This is really hyped up as a quarterback matchup, but both quarterbacks had to get through it.
Yesterday. Here's a touchdown pass, unbelievable.
Tuck the craft and the crafts on fire.
So from Timberlake, South Dakota, small town of five hundred people.
If he said he talks trash by saying I'll burn down your childhood house.
Which is just a subtle way to say things. Texans did an interception. Love was not perfect yet again, Jordan Love has struggled in some of these games statistically.
And then Joe Mixon touchdown, all.
Right, Green Bay would have to come all the way back second and goal down five.
Jordan Love looking loose here. We got Ralph passing there in the end zone. Touchdown. Josh Jacobson is excellent.
You know, this is the longest streak ever for players have a reception without a touchdown reception.
Is that right?
Ever?
Josh Jacobs did and that's his first career touch on reception. Okay.
Mcmahonons who has been around the league, was signed this week.
Chucks is in right there, ends it.
They called it time out to freeze and then he kicked it again, nailed it twice.
Packers escaped at.
Home with a victory and Brandy McMahon has been around the league.
And by a Super Bowl champ. Unbelievable. Twenty four to twenty two. Packers win.
The Texans at a three game win streak coming into this one, Packers snapped it. Now they have their own three game win streak. This is the same team that lost in Brazil to start the season, lost their quarterback. Peter feels like they're back on track a little bit.
It's amazing to see that. We go from Jordan Love being injured in Brazil and it's been like the seasons down the tubes and then you look at their stats and their record, it's five and two and they're right there.
But the cost of the Lions and Vikings. They're not getting the same love.
And yet I wake up this morning and I can't help but feel like the Texans.
Did let one get away. And there was a lot of confusion at the end.
There Texans have the ball to two minute warning and they're.
All the way deep in Packers' territory and CJ.
Stropt, who struggled all game, he only had eighty six yards, wasn't they their decision on the playmaking was this, okay, hand off to mix in? All right, Packers call time out, next play, hand off to mix in.
Packers call timeout like.
Guys, are we gonna do something, We're gonna try something, take a shot. And then on third and fifteen and they could, if you're gonna run the ball, run the ball.
It's an incomplete and it stops the clock.
And now the Packers get an opportunity with a minute forty four.
I mean, they literally wasted no time off the clock.
So whereas Jordan Love's offensive head coach Matt Lafleur finds a way to manufacture the clock and the time matter because the at least give us a shot to win. I almost felt like the Houston Texans were playing not to lose down the stretch there, and Demiko ran is unassailable on this show.
We love him. He's great.
And Bobby Slowik is going to get another dozen head coaching jobs interviews this off season.
But they it was a mess up there.
Happens that the play management and the clock management was off.
So Packers, that's a great win.
And McManus's you know, nails it twice and they get it and it's fair and it's fine, and the Packers are.
Five and two. We love it. But I'm a Texans fan.
I'm waking up this morning, I'm thinking, how did we let that one out of our hands? That was an unbelievable way to give the game away.
Yeah, and it's crazy to think that, you know, with the Packers especially, you know, you look at what they did. They gave the ball over, you know, three times, and they still were able to win the game. That's just usually not how it goes. Typically it's a high percentage you lose that game. But I love this defense. This defense really stepped up in critical time, especially against a team that we know c J.
Strouds.
They've been lighting it up, but they really shut this passing offense. And this the Packers came in as the twenty fifth rings pass defense and they were able to shut down their wide receivers. I want you to take a look at this number right here, because this was the production for the wide receivers for the Houston Texans. The Houston Texans, they just couldn't get anything off sex Stroud was under some pressure. But look at this Scholtz digs. Look at the amount of receptions and the amount of production. There was zero production really out of this, and I think it was really too. The biggest difference was they were able to get crucial pressure sacking Strout on crucial moments, keeping Houston from you know, field goal range, and and that to me was a big difference in this situation. But I got to give some love too, though, to Jordan Love. Jordan Love, I thought, you know, he found a way to win. It wasn't his best game by you know, by long shot, but he did find a way to win.
And you always got to get credit.
Well.
I felt a little bit like when I was watching lines of Vikings, like these two teams matter, Like these two teams are going to be playoff teams. We're going to be watching them on a Sunday, Peter and the Texans case usually it's a Saturday in the playoffs, but we'll find out.
The cheerer point about Jordan Love.
I mentioned earlier in the show that the Chiefs are undefeated and Mahomes is leading the league in interceptions.
The co leader Jordan Love.
It's the two of them combined, I think eleven and two. And it's because their teams are so good. I know Jordan Loved is famous and he's the quarterback, and all the history we know about him topped about him. They're really good. The defense is good. Tucker Kraft is becoming a star. We joke about his micup stuff. Feels like he scores every single week. It's the same deal with the Chiefs. The quarterbacks are not playing well statistically, and they just keep winning. This is a big win. Texans are very good. I have them as a top five team in the league. John played terribly and they almost pulled this thing out. I love both of these teams. It's like the Texans had to lose, and I think they did mess up the end, Peter, but like they lost to a good.
Team on the road. They'll be in the playoffs. We move on. I like both these teams.
That last play that we just saw the Josh Jacobs touchdown reception run. That stat by us again, it was the longest stretch.
A guy, So this was a big deal yesterday.
It's the longest stretch ever for guys having a reception and never scoring a touchdown. So Josh Jacobs had tons and tons of catches in his career, He's never had a receiving touchdown.
And now it's also probably what six years in the league, and yeah, yeah, score, yeah, you know.
I had to when I heard that during the telecous like, can't right.
And then last sight.
Now that the current streak right now is Jalen Warren on the Steelers, who still does not I have a receiving touchdown, has tons of perceptions.
Just a weird thing.
So when Josh Jacobs ran it in, I think he knew because it's become a joke.
What was it?
There was there was a joke in the NBA. Was it Ben Simmons never hitting a three? It was like that, like this good player, and then he finally did everyone crazy. He's been asked, Josh Jakes about a lot. You've never had a receiving touch. So he did the Lamb belipe. He did everything that was a big deal.
Enjoy it.
But you know, especially with the offense that they run, now, you just think that that would have been a no brain.
That's why I was confusing.
Yeah, yeah, two hundred and eleven. That's how many passes he caught Betweens and Green Bay and then he was able to run.
Into I blamed Derek Carr.
No, it's fine, right, like Derek Cars Like, what did I do? Played on Thursday night and blame Josh McDaniels. Hey. Now Seahawks in Atlanta, Kirk Cousins trying to keep the Falcons on pace in the NFC South and with the Rams injured and a bunch of the divisional team's the injured Seahawks trying to make way. Here we go. Gino Smith steps up find DK Metcalf on the tee of the atl DK Metcalf had a fantastic day, four catches ninety nine yards carted off, but quinc donald optimistic with the knee injury for Metcalf. The Seahawks bullied the Falcons yesterday thirty one, fourteen, And if you saw that shot at Falcons quarterback. Hercuses blood he knows, and he kept playing with it. He did his best, but the Seahawks four and three.
Now Pennicks got into the game late. It is Sam Cooper Cup.
They're gonna rest him on Sunday because they want to use him on Thursday eight and O'Connell injured in this one, Minshew has.
To get the star. I guess they've replaced them.
Here and he is just assaulted by this Rams defense.
They were all over him.
Rams defense dominated the Raiders offense in this one, and then Kyron wins.
This guy just scores touchdowns.
Feels like his mother is more touchdown balls because he drops them off in their lot than any other person in the world.
She has a lot those a shit.
Yeah, they play Thursday night against the Vikings.
They get Cooper Cup.
Back suddenly with the Seahawks that winning and the forty nine Ers losing. The NFC West gets really interesting and a Sean and the Boys can get a victory.
The Rams could be back in this thing.
We love it when that happens. Let's do game balls. Game Balls presented by C. D. W Weeks. Evan had some big names doing big name things, but we like to change it up sometimes. I know, I'm really excited about mine.
Yeah, I'm excited about mine because it's not an individual person, it's a team. So I'm going to go on one side of the team. I'm going to go with the Kansas City Chiefs defense. They really played well. Shout out to you know, Spags. I thought he did an amazing job of giving diverse looks, which made it very very hard for you know, Perty to settle in.
But check this out.
There's Chris rolling Wallace right there, a number thirty undrafted free agent getting his first pick and looking good in this defense. But this team, I had picks everywhere. Jade Higgs got involved, Justin Reid got involved, George Carloftis, he came out there balling when Chris Jones didn't necessarily have his best game. And they continue to put pressure on this very good forty nine Ers team, and they made them.
They made them so for a little bit they went.
The forty nine Ers were two four eleven on third round, didn't do well in the red zone area. This defense showed up big time.
So Cars given at five three game balls everybody.
He has a lot difference.
I don't know if you're sorry.
Carlaftis gets the sack and then he looks at the camera and he does one of these the bosa, which was pretty cool.
I like, Michael Jordan, No, it's.
Yeah, it was pretty sure. I like that.
I'm going to Saquon for my game ball.
There's no you know, this isn't something off the wall, This isn't something different.
Saquan had to go back into.
Ned life and say something, and he did it with his game one hundred and seventy six yards in a touchdown, including runs of fifty five yards, forty one yards, thirty eight yards. They were burning his jersey in the parking lot before the game. Afterwards, even the most angry giantsman had to tip their cap and say, this guy's just an awesome player. When he's healthy, he's on the field.
You can't hate Saquon. You just simply can't.
He's such a good guy, such an ambassador for the game, and when he's out there doing his thing, there might be no better running back in the sport.
I mentioned it earlier in the show.
He was a few yards short of having a career high and rushing Nick Sirian. He said, Hey, why don't you get back in there, And he said, I'm good. Let some of the other guys get in total class took the money with the Eagles, and guess what, the Eagles are a far better team than the Giants right now. So maybe everyone works out in the end and the Giants, well, they have to live with that decision moving forward.
You know what My favorite part of that game was when I heard the crowd go from.
Boo to ooh, like like late laid the thunder.
Yeah, burning d Sunday Night football was supposed to be Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. They're supposed to have like nine catches. He's you know, Devontaanna supposed to have like one hundred and twenty seven yards. And then Beanie Bishop came along and Beanie Bishop, the undrafted rookie, said no, thank you, Beanie Bishop, you have my game ball to go from Western Kentucky. I love the Hilltoppers, they're my favorite college football to Minnesota to Western Virginia. Beanie Bishop named after the stuffed animal. This is not some other no. His godmother called him, you are such a cute little Beanie baby when he was a baby.
It just stuck it's actually about that.
It is.
I'm his godmother, Beanie Bishop Junior. He had two picks. Then after the game on Sunday Night Football, Melissa Stark has the undrafted rookie for the Steelers at the postgame interview and she says, you just picked up Aaron Rodgers twice. What are you going to do with those interception balls? And here is Beanie's answer.
Man, I really want to get him signed.
It frame for real?
You're gonna ASKHN to sign him?
Yeah, for sure? Wishy how it goes though?
Yeah, yeah, we'll see how that goes. Yeah, we'll see.
How that goes.
That was gonna be right. You whine that because I actually was like, I'm sorry.
What did he just say?
Excuse me, mister Rogers, I just picked you twice. You do not know my name. It's Beanie.
Could you sign it for me?
I know your world's caving in, you're two and five and nothing's working, but will you autograph my interception balls? I used to never throw interceptions, and now you threw two to an undrafted rookie gamed after a bean bag shaped like a giraffe.
I know how you do that. Just don't get a kid, go get a kid and say, hey, can you ask Aaron Rodgers?
I think I still don't think it would work.
I think you should have asked Russell Wilson to go to locker room and ask Aaron Rodgers.
I'm sure, I'm sure Rogers would love that. From here. Yeah, yeah, Rogers very tight.
But the bag the melist is like, that's nice.
We'll see how that goes.
Wait, it be in the moment.
Peter correct me if I'm wrong.
Didn't you at one point have a job telemarketing hospital equipment?
Was it?
Yeah, chiropractic care. I was a sneaky I would call people up.
Hi, everybody, if you're sugar, hear from chiropractic care.
I like a free chiropractic work.
You wear a headset and a man the whole thing.
My whole high school class. We all did this.
This is how we did. I'd bring it up for reasons.
I once worked at the sanitation department and would rigil in the unite seen ninety eight. You guys had some some like crappy jobs. Anything you remember.
Men's dressing room folding of the clothes after the men would leave the department store.
I had to say when we try on six pairs of pants just drop on the floor.
That's you. Yeah, with that little plastic number where you put it on the dressing.
Room like you actually bring in thirty items instead of and I got a fold the.
Like pins and hangars.
You had to do that. That's a fluorescent light and those bad mirrors. Akbar, what do you got? I had, Ninja Warrior.
No no, no, no, no no.
Actually, at San Diego State, I actually did work for the plumbing department, so I actually was going in fixing toilet because my dad was a plumber.
That's cool.
I did that at a summer job doing the plumbing at San Diego State.
That's really cool. I actually bring it up for a reason.
I've never done this, but I imagine it's a tough racket selling bricks, and I all do respect to people who sell bricks. Jake Bates is the Lions kicker, and eighteen months ago he was selling bricks. What is even a sales pitch on bricks? You either need bricks or you don't. They're bricks. They've been the same for one hundred years. He was selling bricks. He was out of football. He said, my dream is over. This guy made the game winning kick yesterday for Detroit. It's a long story. He was a UFL guy. He was a soccer player in college. Then he transferred to another college who was kicking. He was with the Panthers training camp in the spring. Comes on, the Lions signed him. He flexes, He dances Peter one more time, tells.
Fund we bring the boo?
What does that mean?
Big Justice and aj Online, the costco guys.
They do a great dance and Jake Baits.
Did it in the game dance. So if you think that's great, nobody brings.
There's nothing I can.
Say about the bricks salesman Jake Baits better than his head coach.
You want someone bring?
This was awesome good after a damn go Camble hope.
That he never misses one, because said, h you gotta love that.
The best part is Bates gives the speech.
He's like, you know, credits to the offense for getting down here, field goal blockers.
It's not an easy job, you know, it's not an easy job.
I imagine again selling bricks, and I hope but little I just think it's very cool that you were doing that and now you're doing this and everybody does the lines got a little bit of magic. They had a tough tough week last week with a Hutchinson's injury, but in the meantime they got the brick layer.
Bates gets on the field because Michael Badgeley the money badge, money badger, he goes down with an injury, and they're like, all right, we gotta scrim this is a super Bowl contending team.
They go to Jake Bates, who had had no experience in the NFL. You know what, He's the mortar, the keyst this team.
I was gonna say, Cale, you have kids, it's so easy. You hoff and you poff in the bricks. They think you're good.
That straw one falls down and whatever the wood one was.
But puff can you poff? That's how you celebrate.
Three little pigs.
MANX brothers Grim like that stuff.
Yeah, teams and references and voices, it's.
Jelly version of it.
I do.
It's great.
My favorite game balls so far, must be on a Monday.
We'll be ready packed to wrap up our sho Jamie in there with all those khakis and sweaters, that's a miserable place in there.
Would you have to.
Knock on the door and be like, need any new size.
I would wait for them to leave.
Can you get me a you know forty eight ways? Yeah?
Would you use your real name? Hey, this is Peter Schrager calling.
Good.
Each week on this show, I give out an award coach of the week.
It could be a coordinator, it could be an assistant, and it could be a head coach.
In this case, I'm giving it to the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. It's Mike McDonald, all right, McDonald. Seahawks had lost three straight games.
Last time I saone was on a third night being embarrassed at home against the forty nine ers team. And Seattle goes into Atlanta and well, they brought the boom.
They were unbelievable. They silenced a red hot Falcons team. It did so in their building.
And the significance of it is well the fact that Mike McDonald was coming home. McDonald grew up in Georgia, mere miles from the stadium if you look at this, played at Centennial High School in Roswell, twenty three miles, and then he went out to coach high school football also in Athens at Cedar Shoals, and then he was of course at the University of Georgia, as the story goes, and they said it on the broadcast.
Kenny Albert and Jonathan Bilmo were discussing it.
Mike had all.
These ticket requests, and his assistant and his staff is Haley Holtz, and she had and they said they might be affecting the ticket sales on this thing because of the amount of people locally who wanted to come and support Mike McDonald. Well, it was as good at homecoming as possible, and the Seahawks season is back on track. Mike McDonald, the pride of Oswell, Georgia, goes home and gets.
A win in Atlanta. Nice, Sherry Burris, what do you got for us over there?
But I was a wonderful homecoming in Georgia. Can't say the same that the fans had a positive reaction in Cleveland. The Brown season continuing to go from bad to worse. Not only did they fail to score over twenty points for the seventh straight game, Guys quarterback to Shaun Watson went down with a likely season ending injury. An I Thought Network insider Ian Rappaport is reporting it's feared Watson suffered a torn achilles tendon as head coach Kevin Sefanski says the quarterback will undergo further testing. You see the reaction right here now. Browns fans could be heard booing Watson after suffering this injury, which defensive end Miles Garrett was not okay hearing.
We don't.
We don't boot guys that are in jo on film, especially with the extent with the card comes out. No, that's and we should be ashamed of ourselves as Browns and as fans to boo anyone and their downfall to be seasoned, altering, career altering injury. Man, it's not perfect. He doesn't need to be None of us are expected to be perfect. Can't jet him for what he does and often fit on the field because I can't throw stones from my glass house. But we need to do better.
Yeah, not a good look there for Browns fans.
Jameis Winston also having Deshaun Watson's back, but still to come here on the show moments from the weekend, leaving Jimmy and the guys just a little in disbelief.
Stay here, now, let's get to some real head scratchers from games on Sunday. Off far Where do you take us.
First all, I'm going to take you to the forty nine Ers Chiefs game, and this one was an interesting play by the offense for forty nine ers. I want you to take a look at this. Usually we see like the tush push right here, but this was something really unique right here.
Take a look at this.
You get two guards right here pulling in opposite directions. Now, as a defensive lineman, you're talk to chase that, but that up right open. It was a one on one block and all party had to do. We'll just pick a side. I have never seen that before.
Usually when you see the guards pool, that's where the play is going. Take a little one more time. Look at this.
Usually the ball's gonna be ran wherever they run the nope, and those guys are following the guards like they're supposed to. So it was great skin call. It was a head scratcher because I was like, Wow, that was a good seat that worked.
It was cool, my head scratchers. What happened?
A cool place, bro, I got to bring it back out definitely come on very late. My head scratcher is just how sick the sports fandom of a New York met deet fan could be. This was at eleven twenty five pm Eastern. The Mets miracle season comes to an end, kids standing up on the East coast to watch it, and the Dodgers celebrate, and okay, and that's fine.
It was not supposed to be the Mets year anyway. And then literally ten minutes later, the Jets season comes to an end as well, and it's over.
And it wasn't supposed to end this way either, And so both team seasons ended on the same night, ten minutes apart, in the middle of October.
So that is my head scratcher, how it works out.
That way, Peter, this is why I wore the ghost Sports sweatshirt because it was just like a brutal day for New York. Arts were good, the New York Liberty won. You're a Minnesota sports fan, it was not a great all right.
Well, let me go to something much cheerier. Let's go to Cleveland. Did you see what happened before the games?
Guys?
You know who? William Drayton Junior is no flavor Flavor.
So they have a tradition where they give someone a guitar and they smash it and flavor flavor I think is still.
There trying to smash this guitar.
He whacked this guitar fifty times.
That is him under the mask in brown Jersey. And I don't know if you believe in the pregame festivities are like indication of what's coming. But never even mind that Ashaun Watson injury. The Bengals literally returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. After this, he's still trying to break it. I don't know the background Browns fans, I'm sure will tell me. He's not from Cleveland, He's from the York a public enemies from New York. But he was there trying.
To see shit. This is not on loop. This is his. Is the same clip going.
Peter, the custodial staff at the stadium says he's still there trying to break it. I don't even think he broke it fully at the end.
I've been just go tar wait more than him.
And then they started the game the kickoff and the quarterback gots hurt and that was it. So a great day at the field and Flavor, flav, we love you, but this is not for him.
I don't know who was inducted, but it was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction celebration Ozzie and Cher, So maybe that's why he.
Was there that yeah, maybe, Well right before this, Ozzy Osbourne and Zach Wilde did the National Anthem, which is an unbelievable thing, and they were going in and that's cool, and then he came out. He's like chopping wood, like there's a regular tree. Exasperated flavor fla yes, he said oxygen no boy.
Last week on the show. I got invited to in a couple of weeks ago to Minnesota and Little the Corn for the Vikings, and I'm expecting a reoccurring fear for no sound to come out of the hole.
And I started.
Flavor flame being unable to break the guitar. Now I am fearful of just like what if I can't do it? What I mean, you.
Better start very nervous.
You better start practice, Jamien, when you were like we ever in like the band like a trumpet or French horn or something like that, Did you ever do that.
When you were No, I did not. I played the violin.
It's not gonna it's not gonna work.
I have a quick pitch. I have a quick pitch. DeVante Adams on the catch last night for being bishoping but bobbled the ball or no, it was a George Pickens bottle, touched every part of his body. I think we should use the DeVante Adams face for head scratchers moving forward. What do you guys think face? I love the dog with the head tilt, but I think DeVante Adams working now? Did he do that? It was like the definitive head scratcher for me. Can we use it?
He's like, He's like, didn't I tell the Raiders I want to play for a winner.
Sorry? Sorry, By the.
Way, DeVante might be asking for a trade. The deadline is not for another week.
They like.
This.
I was gonna go Flavor Flame still with the guitar wave quimpers
