Good Morning Football.

Hey, everybody, welcome to Good Morning Football. We are presented by our friends at Old Trapper Beef Jerky. We're also live here in Los Angeles. I'm Jamie Rdall. This is Akbar Baja Biamilla. There's Peter Schrager, and there's Brant wearing the GMFB overtime shirt representing brand as always. How do we feel about the brands guys representing Thursday Night, Friday Night, Sunday and now into Monday night.

I enjoyed the Friday night football experience.

Peter, Yeah, it was awesome.

I mean, you talk about Thursday Night's game Chiefs Ravens, Friday Night's game Packers Eagles, and then last night's game was an absolute beauty. The NFL wins again. Unbelievable football.

And there's more tonight. We got the Jets and the forty nine.

Ers with Boys to Men singing the national anthem before the game.

I'm betting for it's true.

Evermind Rogers and Parties Boys to Men. At the end of the road, I'm mad we don't have Tuesday night.

Football this week and maybe someday we will.

But in the meantime, how's everything in Los Angeles?

And now are you ready to rock today?

Yeah?

Yeah yeah?

Boys to Men?

That was my jam growing up, So yeah, I'm ready.

You just made my day with them the shregs X updates. And when I saw Peter drop a tweet like on Friday afternoon, like, what's he getting into?

What is this?

Oh?

It's Boys to Men?

Who's update?

I understand why the Shregs had to do it.

Oh man, some games happened last night though.

Oh they really did, and one of them happened in Detroit, Michigan.

That is our lead block. It is a rematch of a wild card playoff.

Game, Lion's coming off their first playoff wins since nineteen ninety one. Matthew Stafford used to play in this building, Rams for Gas. They did everything that could possibly do at the end, but the Lions are really tough upfront, and they just pushed them around in overtime.

Lions win overtime football. We won. We don't mind it at all.

Twenty six to twenty two very good teams who represented themselves. Well, let's hear from two very good quarterbacks who did the same.

It shows that we didn't play our best game and still won, and a ton of stuff to clean up, a ton of things you get better at. And it does feel a little bit like Week one last year, where it's like, yeah, we kind of like we're making some mistakes, but we're able to get to win anyways. And for it to be in overtime it is special and one I think, you know, months from now.

We'll look back and be happy we have you know, had our opportunities but weren't able to capitalize on them. And still at the end of the game, you know, if I can hit that ball to Cooper. We're just a little bit on different pages on where we were heading on that one, and totally understand what he was doing. It's part of the game. It's the game of football humbling.

Even coming from Stafford that feels differently, he says, the game it's humbling at times. Peter, I know you're chomping on the bit to talk rams, but Kyle as someone who is on the Lions campaign this season in terms of what they brought to the table but also putting it into fruition.

On Sunday night, they looked really strong.

They looked incredible.

This this is I hope everybody liked this game. I hope you're into it because this is my NFC title game and they were going to see this game again.

I think I love both of these teams.

And if you missed it, if you went to sleep, you didn't see the end of it. The overtime was an absolute display of app power.

From the lines, they were like, let's get the hell out here.

They win the toss, as I said, and then here's what happened in overtime. Run run run, swing pass, run run, run to the one yard line. Rams called time out, give their defensive break one yard run touchdown. It was unbelievable. Seven runs, one pass. They are so tough up front on the offense, on defense, it's like every fitness influencer Peter's always telling you about.

It's all without the corps. You gotta core a corps.

I do bridge for fifteen minutes after they wake up in the morning at by breakfast.

They are strong in the core.

That was the only pass they threw an overtime to swing pass the Gibbs.

The rest of the time it was just Montgomery, it was Gibbs. It was everything you want.

They're so tough, they're so strong in the core. They won this game because look at this that the Rams. There's nothing they can do here. They were exhausted. Ninety nine wasn't on the field, and that was a rap. I think these teams will play again, and I think it'll be in.

The late January theater.

I think that's my take.

I came out of the show after Thursday night's game and I said, yeah, the Chiefs won, but if you're a Ravens fan, you got to feel pretty good about your team. And I would love to see these teams play in January. I thought the Rams were awesome last night. I'm worried about the Rams this morning, and we'll have Rappaport and Pelisaro and Garifalo because it was like a mash unit the amount of injuries they had, and yet they somehow found right. They're down seventeen to three in this game, and they were on the road in a house of horrors. That place is absolutely nuts, and sure enough they came back and they chipped away, and I'll tell you the John Johnson interception at seventeen thirteen, it totally changed the vibe for this entire game. Here's GoF you could put the game away. John Johnson jumps, I'm on raw picks him off right, total momentum swing and the Rams.

This is after Koko got hurt.

This is after half the offensive line has been off, and then it's this play right here, Kyle, you showed it in the highlights?

Are you serious?

Cooper Cup, who I put on my top five lists of players that are much better than the experts.

Have him and fantasy. He had fourteen catches last night. All I heard at our.

RAMS camp was have good Cup looks. But then the pass of the night. It was the one that had Chris Collinsworth literally falling off of his chair. I'm gonna toss to Collinsworth and Tariko on this one.

This may be the throw of the year right here.

Watch this.

Just watch Matthew Stafford here. How does he even see the guy down the field? Much less falling backwards? Fade away jumper? No, look, whatever the heck that was, and complete that third down pass. That is ridunculous right.

There, dunculous, ridiculous. Collinsworth, the first week into the longest season we've ever had is calling a pass in the fourth quarter, the greatest pass we've seen all season. Okay, I'm just saying this. I loved this game last night.

The Rams.

They could hold their head high.

They were into a house of hords, maybe be the hardest place to play right now, and they hung and the Lions, like Kyle said, found away in overtime to just grinded out.

Two great teams, two worthy competitors.

And I would not be upset if we saw this exact same matchup again in January.

Man, Peter, I'm right there with you.

This one was really really exciting watching them, you know, on the defensive side for the Rams, I loved watching their defensive line front. Keep an eye on this defense. That defense is going to be really good. But I want to go back to Detroit. They won this game, and just something that popped out. We all were ready for alm On Saint Brown to continue what he did last season, and he's going to be exactly that. But the surprise to me was James Williams and what he was able to produce. All the attention went over to Saint Brown, and you need a guy like this who's going to be able to open things wide open. Here's a guy that can run four, two five, and his speed show the very first pass.

He called, I'm like, whoa what, who is this guy?

Why is he running so fast? You know, coming off of an injury hit this return.

I just love what he brings to this offense, the ability to stretch the field any defense. I'm telling you, defenses are going to have to be very concerned about this offense. I agree with you, Peter. I think we're going to see this matchup again. Two very good teams. But the Lions, the receiving corps, they're.

Strong, really strong.

When you have Jared Goff looking as comfortable as he did at home, I think that is imperative for them moving forward. Jamison Williams has really been through it too. Since he got drafted out of Alabama. He's had games, he's missed, He's had injuries, and he's just trying to play up to the bar of an Aman Rossaint Brown in the standard that he is trying to set. I go to the defensive side of the ball for Detroit. Was anybody more ready for Week one to start than Alexanzeloni. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon when this game started on Sunday, Night Football.

I swear I had barely sat.

Back down from the five minute break between it. We had between the four o'clock games ending and this one where house Angeloni tackle for loss, other play Angeloni tackle for lost.

He was all over the field.

He had a crazy stat line ten plus sackles, three tackles for loss. He looked amazing in his fourth year with the Lions. I know Mantai Teo will be in here later. These guys are really close. They played with the same ferocious nature now that we've.

Gotten to Omantai a little bit better.

But I thought Alex Anzeloni looked absolutely tremendous. Peter, I know in this defense the backbone of Aiden Hudgens of being upfront and Alex. The threat of Alexandeloni coming off the side must have been nightmarish for Matt Stafford at times.

Well.

They also had injuries on the offensive line, so you saw a new center out there and Azeloni was all over the place. But you said it, Aiden Hutchinson was unblockable at points in this game, up and down this field. The Rams were able to move on these guys in the fourth quarter, but early on those Lions players were on fire on defense, and you could tell the crowd lifted them up. Gosh, Safford took a beating last night, an absolute beating, and he did that again after the wild card round, right, did this same thing.

This Lion's defense is punishing.

And Aaron Glenn had these guys on all you just working out all four.

We're hyping the lines really hard, but we're forgetting guys. We're getting ready for a Viking Saints NFC title game this year after yesterday.

So let's not sleep on any of those teams.

Come on now, don't do that, Kyle, don't do that well.

As Peter and Kyle Knockbar mentioned, it was unfortunate to see some of the injuries stack up for the Rams, specifically our neighbors across the street here in La. Let's bring an Ian Rappaport now for the latest on injuries around the league, Ian Bup. Can we please start with Pookinakua.

Yeah, we will start with Pookin Akua, the Rams star receiver who injured his knee last night, same knee as training camp. So get carted off, actually came back in. I believe it was just for one play. Got clearance to go tried to go, could not end up pulling himself back off the field. King's going to have tests this afternoon just to determine what is going on.

They're in his knee.

No formword yet on his status, but obviously same knee as training camp. Clearly an issue there, clearly in some pain that he was battling through. Would be surprised if he missing some time as he figures out and tries to improve this issue. So more info coming on Puka Nakua today, obviously, we'll update.

That as we have it.

Meanwhile, for the Cleveland Browns, a tough day all around, and it got tougher late last night. David and Djoku their Pro Bowl tight end, one of the better players, better playmakers are on their offenses. Fear Drop suffered a high ankle sprain you're going to see it right there, and Djoku with some clearly in some pain right there during the game test today. High ankle sprains generally are four to six weeks. The hope is that this is on the short end, but the MRI will tell all either way. Potentially about three weeks or a month off his feet for David and Joku, and then maybe the biggest injury from the entire weekend. Jordan will Love, the starting quarterback at the Green Bay Packers. You saw six seconds to go if you're watching that late for the game in Brazil, this is the hit. Right then, A lot of people thought it was his ankle.

Ankle is fine. It's actually the knee.

It is a grade one slash grade to MCLs. Probably about three weeks is the time frame that I was given. Maybe beats that, maybe it's an additional week, but should be about three weeks for Jordan Love. Now, the Green Bay Packers do have some options at the quarterback position. Their backup quarterback that game was Malik Willis, but they just traded for him last week.

Wonder does he know the offense well enough to run it.

They also have Sean Clifford, last year's backup quarterback.

He's on the practice squad.

He also could step in into it.

Yeah, that Malik Willis arrival, it happened a little bit earlier in the month of august Ian. It may have been more comfortable with the Packers moving forward.

Appreciate it so much. Jordan Love out for.

Some time, but we'll see how comfortable he is upon his return elsewhere in the NFC North, perhaps not exactly what Kayleb Williams is expecting his first start, but frankly, if he asked him, he doesn't care about stats. He only cares about wins. His defense sure showed up. We're talking Titans Bears.

Kyle right on the flip side, Caleb want to Oh, we're.

Getting in New plus. So m's going on in Cleveland.

We saw that annoying and then Joku news about his injury. But Dak's got like a quarter billion dollars that came out right before the game.

It happened.

Tom Brady was on the call. Peters has an extensive review of that. We're getting into all of it. Good morning football on a Monday, Peter.

Let's go, come on, let's go. We see you Steelers fans.

We're getting to you too, and you also Patriots fans.

Feel good.

This morning football's back.

Good morning football.

We'll get back to some football. Here's Steelers Falcons. Justin Fields gets the nod.

So also Wilson with a calf injury.

So here's Kirk.

Cousins coming off the Achilles injury, making four years, one hundred and eighty million dollars.

That was the contract.

How would he play in his debut with the Falcons. Cousins would only complete sixteen passes. He'd throw more interceptions and touchdowns.

And TJ. Watt was the most dominant.

Person on the planet, as Kyle tweeted last night and was absolutely accurate.

AFC South Action Texans Cold's battle of two second year quarterbacks. One we didn't see it all last season. One run offensive rookie of the year. Fourth quarter, Anthony Richardson drops back fifty four yard connection. Colts were battling with the Texas late though. In the fourth CJ. Strout rolls left quick strike that is step Bond Diggs making himself comfortable in Houston.

Richardson disappointed.

You're gonna see Anthony richards the highlight later though, and rewind that.

Kyle rest assured.

I love the ruin that segment. That's all kinds of fun.

And so Brown's Cowboys, Dak Prescott two undred and thirty one million dollars guaranteed, de Shaun Watson two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed. Let's see how that played out. Browns fans miserable day.

Just we hear you guys, this was next to nothing.

The Cowboys went in there were the better team from start to finish.

The Browns were nots. And there's all kinds of things do unfold on that.

But on the positive side, Hey Cowboys, we're training camp. Some people said the vibes weren't There were thirty three of them, thirty three to seventeen. I mentioned the contract. This comes out the morning of the opener. We've been waiting for months. We saw CdSe deal. We've got daxed deal now. And he was never stressing about it.

He says, my confidence on both sides of this that that something would get done, understanding that that they were hammering at it, that I had confidence in it. But it really wasn't in my mind. For me, it was just about getting ready for the Browns. Whether it got done today or not wasn't going to change the way. It wasn't going to affect me. Honestly. I've told you guys before, I don't necessarily play. I don't play for the money. I think when you focus and you control what you can control, things like that just happened. So yeah, I found out probably an hour. I get where I mean honestly, probably twenty minutes before it was publicized to everybody else.

That is mind boggling that he finds that out, but twenty minutes.

For everybody else did.

The win was impressive, The money is impressive. The Cowboys play was impressive. It was a good day for the Cowboys. Peter in Cleveland.

Yesterday, you're talking.

About an hour before the kickoff. You've got tyreek Hill being detained by authorities. You've got Kendrick Lamar being announced as a Super Bowl halftime act. You've got Russell Wilson being ruled as an active and then all of a sudden, it's like boom, after five months of talking about Dak's contract.

We're gonna figure that out.

Now. You say it was fun to work pregame shows.

Yesterday, I'll just save my hour on the Fox three game show.

Was quite a bit of work.

Yesterday, Kyle, And that was great with me.

It was great for Dak. And sometimes that happens and you might say, oh God, how's he gonna perform in a pressure Dak wasn't necessarily asked.

To do much last yesterday.

Well, guess what, everything he did was right and it was fine and was enough to make sure this thing was never in doubt. The Cowboys took the foot off the pedal in the second half. This was one of the biggest blowouts of the day, and Dak was just on fire and he and Ceedee Lamb were a perfect connection. Look, you're talking about the numbers, one hundred and seventy nine yards in a touchdown with an eighty five pass thread, Like, you're not gonna necessarily go to the Pro Bowl based on those numbers. But when you know you're the man in charge, and you know that everyone in that building knows you're the man.

In charge, that's what you're looking for.

I thought, Dak answered the bell, and gosh, can we not put a Browns team like that on national television for Tom Brady's debut. Ever, again, that team was not worthy of that spotlight of the loan four o'clock window on Fox. And I worry about the Browns, and we'll get to them all week long, But I worry about the Browns and that we all just assumed, all right, well, we didn't see anything in the preseason, we didn't get any hint, but like we assumed that they went to the playoffs last year and Watson's better than Flac.

Oh, this was never a game.

And I'll tell you the Cowboys they walk through this one, they'll have bigger challenges coming through. But gosh, Browns fans, we feel free you this morning too.

Yeah, this was This was a very tough one too for the Cleveland Browns. Of course, we know Deshaun Watson, he lost his father a couple of days before the game. The offensive line they had their issues, obviously, they lost their.

Right and left tackle.

But I want to look, you know, defensively, because the Dallas Cowboys took advantage of the weakness for that of the Cleveland Browns. I mean just using them. You saw Michael Parsons just lining up every which way, creating having Lawrence was in the back of six sacks. I mean, when you watch this game, I felt badly for Deshaun Watson. There was no time that he ever felt like he could get comfortable in the pocket. He was just constantly running and moving and he just always felt even when the pocket was clear, it felt like somebody was on top of him. But this defense was just after him. This is a very tough defense and they made the moment and Kendricks even getting in there as well too, to play devil's advocate.

Though.

We saw some other quarterbacks yesterday off bar that handled themselves in a pocket sometimes that did collapse, like a Josh Allen, like a Matthew Stafford. Do you think Deshaun Watson should get to a point where maybe at times in a game he could take it on himself and hang and really take responsibility of the offense.

Yes, and no, that offensive line did not protect you. Go back and I had to watch that game a second time and I looked at it and I'm like, you can't get comfortable in that pocket. Deshaun Watson is just constantly moving those guys. I mean, when you lose your tackle and your right tackle and you're moving around like that, it's very difficult to have settle feed Now. I thought that Cleveland Browns probably should have leaned a little bit more on the run game that they didn't. They were really constantly trying to force the ball in there.

It was tough.

It was a tough day for Deshaun Watson.

Yeah, I mean it's Deshaun Watson doesn't look comfortable. In four years. It's been a tough half decade at this point. And I'm the guy, and you know this, Peter, I'm always saying week one is a liar.

Don't take to me take away from week one.

We've seen a bunch of Super Bowl teams get destroyed week one. We've seen teams be world beaters week one. So I really am trying to reserve today because it be hypocritical say the Browns are screwed. It's fine, Let's see what happens next week, because that was just terrible.

I mean, everybody knows was terrible. It's a really negative story. It was really bad. But it's like you said this too, Peter.

We saw nothing in the preseason Deshaun Watson and I take a single throw. He had arm soreness, and then he came out and it was just like, this looks like a guy who's in the preseason trying to make the roster, not a two hundred and thirty million dollar guy who you traded everything for. And I have to say, Browns fans are so upset this morning, and I'm gonna try to pick you up a little.

Bit next week.

The schedule, good, Caesar, and thank god you have the Giants on the schedule, You have the Raiders, coming. But I also think it's a little bit weird that you're watching this and you know, down in Tampa, Baker Mayfield looks like prime Drew Brees and couldn't miss and wouldn't miss and is supported and the fans love them and the teammates love them. Deshaun Watson needs to have a great game next week against the Jaguars because there is no fan attachment to Deshaun Watson in Cleveland.

There's no one in Cleveland who's like, man, that's always.

Been my guy, and we drafted them and I love this.

It's just like it was.

This guy that you paid for and paid everything for amid a lot of controversy. He's never really played well for you for any consistency. So what I'm saying is Deshaun Watson doesn't have skins on the wall for Cleveland. He's They're not going to have his back when it goes awry. In fact, I think they already don't. I am a big Week two guy. Matters Week one is very weird. Some teams got killed yesterday. They're gonna be in the playoffs. Some teams won by.

Three touchdowns yesterday, They're going to finish six and eleven.

Trust me, I think the Browns have a very good team and a very good coach. I don't know if they have a very good quarterback. We'll find out next week.

I hope.

I also want to shout out we have a new household name. The most impressive player was a guy named Demarvian over Shown.

He was everywhere.

I don't know much about Damorian Overshow.

I'm watching the game Tom Brady's first call, and you're thinking, Wow, Tom.

Brady's gonna be on the call. He's gonna have He's gonna talk about Dak is it.

We talked about the Maurian overshown the first half, and this guy was unbelievable. I'm telling you, Cowboys defense was outstanding.

Shout out to Mike Zimmer. We'll talk more about later in the show, but.

Gosh, Cowboys fans gotta feel pretty good.

Browns fans. I already gave you my spiel.

Quick teaser Damarian Overshow him Brady checks Noakes twice.

He's like, no, I got it, that's my guy.

You mentioned Baker Mayfield guys coming up in the show. We're gonna talk Baker nextell teaser for next week it's Buccaneers Lions. Oh my goodness, great, get something amazing.

Let's get into football here. Mike McDonald's that punch.

It is inexplicably.

McDonald, the youngest head coach in the NFL, replaced in the oldest head coach in the NFL.

As he goes in for Pete Carroll.

Here's Bonnicks making his NFL deterview of the.

Back foot and it's intercepted right there by Julian Love. The former Giant Gino had some shaky moments here, but the running a game, come on, now, the running game. Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb out of the University of Washington fired up up there in the booth.

I love these Seahawks uniforms. I love that helmet right in the middle of the.

Field, and I love that the legion of Boom looked to be out there.

The Seahawks. They hold on.

They went twenty six to twenty bo Knicks.

It's not so easy in the NFL.

Pal No, it's not. It's not. And those jerseys look great. Baker looks great. Jane Daniels, what are you going to do in the NFL?

Second overall pick out of Lsu, the Reening Heisman Trophy winner. Buccaneers comfortably win this one thirty seven to twenty as Baker taking on quite the role in Tampa Bay.

He certainly is the bearskin Jane Daniels. They wanted him instead. That's the number one.

Overall pick, first number and overall draft pick.

For seventy seven years for the Bears. Levis in the first half was awesome. This is a friend of the show right here. I love Will Levis.

The Bears offense did not score a touchdown and they won the game.

That they were down seventeen to nothing.

Caleb becomes the first number one overall pick quarterback to win his first game since David Carr.

They usually do not win when they start Week one. He did.

All was complicated, twenty four to seventeen.

The Bears win.

I'm going to down to the field Christina Pink with Caleb.

The most important thing is how we played to the team. We went in there. Obviously in the locker room, we came back out. We undercid that the game wasn't over. We understood all the work that we've done and all the work that we put in, and obviously big kudos to the defense. Big kudos to the special teams. Oh yeah, big kudos to the special teams and guys like him. It obviously wasn't a game that I'm gonna play in the future and not the game that I wanted to play for my first game, but just kept fighting, kept trying to lead to guys, you know we're gonna get back. We're gonna get back in a loud We're gonna fix all these things. We're gonna get ready for next week.

There are so many intricacies to that game and that interview in particular, that we want to look at Kyle and when you listen to his answer, Kayleb Williams, the fact that he's just played in his first game number one overall pick to have all of those answers in that tone about his team again continues to impress.

He was great on all that stuff.

I mean, if you were if you watch that game and he was incredibly underwhelming, but they won, you like, what's this guy got to say for himself afterwards?

And he hit every single thing.

I gotta play better, I gotta do better. Especially it was great. The defense was great, but we got the win. And that's what's important. I don't care about stats.

That's great. He was really good there because he wasn't good in the game.

But that's all right. You know what he didn't do and he didn't do in the game. You don't have any turnovers. You're not throw a stupid interception. We saw you know Bonis through a terrible interception. We saw right there, Will Levis through a terrible interception.

Hale didn't do any of that.

He missthrows, he missed deep throws, he missed this throw, he missed that throw.

He managed the game.

He had one delay of game penalty, he had no turnovers.

And if it sound like I'm being an insufferable suck.

Up, fine I'm telling you he was not good in this game.

And it was as if Love he was there coaching.

It was a young Rex Grossman, and they're like, just give it to hester Irlacker and Briggs and let them win, and Mike Brown will have some interception for six. It was really like a throwback to two thousand and six. They won the game the Bears usually don't win. They won Week one number one overall picks starting their first game almost never win. A lot to work on a lot for Caleb. But you don't need me to say it, because he said it the second the game was over. Bears one didn't turn it over. I think there's a.

Lot to build up.

Yeah, Look, the last number one overall pick to win their Week one game was David Carr all the way back in two thousand and two, so it's not often the number.

One pick comes out in his roles. But Caleb did not play well. I mean that was not like a good performance. In fact, some of the footwork was awful.

It looked like we were watching all the bad stuff from USC. The tendency is that he kind of freelances, like is not good, but he didn't have to be good when the special teams and the defense were excellent.

Like this could be the story of the Bears.

We did hard knocks, and we're talking all about the offense and all the weapons, but like, gosh, what they did in the second half.

And I got to give a shout.

Out to Richard high Tower, who's the special teams coach of the Chicago Bears, because these guys.

Won the game for him.

That's Jonathan Owens, who I think deserves to be called Jonathan Owens without all the other adjectives.

About who he's married to.

He's that good, and then the defense spectacular when they had to be Look, Jalen Johnson's a stuff, Kevin Byard's a stud, Montez Sweat is a stud. They are loaded on defense and special teams too. And if you're a Bears fan, you might not feel great about Caleb Williams's performance. We have to feel really good about waking up with a w especially in a game when they were down early.

It looked like this was gonna be an all time boss.

But I didn't think Caleb played well and I do have concerns if that's what you're gonna get this season. Hopefully he improves, but that was not a good effort.

No, it wasn't a good effort. And I love the self awareness, you know, Kyle, you were talking about that. I think for a player to have that self awareness, that does give a sign that he is.

Going to get better.

You start pointing fingers and saying to this other person, it was the line, it was the receivers. There's some trouble there, but it takes time to adjust to this game. I think the success that he had during the preseason and all the stuff that we kind of fell in love with the pageantry of the HBO Hard Knock Special totally different when Week one starts and I think Caleb Williams, he knows that he sees that, and he's going, Okay, I have to recalibrate. And that's all you can do in this situation is recalibrate because the spinning around the stuff that he had success with. You remember that play that we all loved during the preseason. We saw that a couple of times in this game, and it's like, now, I'm right there. You have them big boys at three hundred and fifty pounds. Oh yeah, they'll come up on you and they'll close that ground very quickly. And so I just think that Caleb Williams, you know, he'll get into rhythm.

He'll have his receivers. He's still got dogs at the receiver.

Keenan Allen targeted eleven times, but of course only caught the ball four times, So that means there was some passes that were overthrown. There were passes that, of course Keenan should have caught, DJ Moore roma Dunze. Once they get settled into this offense, they're gonna marinate.

They're gonna cook really good.

It almost makes me want to praise c J.

Stroud even more for what he did last year as a rookie because I watched I watched Caleb look like that yesterday. I looked like Jayden Daniels, who's my number one breakout player of the year, and I do all this stuff. Jaden Daniels, he made mistakes left and right, and then Boon Knicks, who was supposed to be mist our accuracy through two costly interceptions. It's really hard to be a rookie and start out of the gates, and c J. Stroud did it with no issues and just steamrolled right through the NFL season last year. But I'm watching three rookies and their debuts all struggle mightily yesterday, yea, and Stroud is.

The one we're gonna be looking at all year.

I mean, I actually, while we're sitting here talking, I was like, what did CJ.

Stroud do? Week one?

They got crushed by the Ravens, But he threw forty four passes.

He looked more competent than Caleb did yesterday.

But I'm gonna keep saying it all day, week one week one week one and guess who the guests who Caleb plays in week two?

CJ Stroud in prime time.

So when now we will have a direct comparison and you gotta do a lot better next weekend. The first thing he said was I gotta play better. He knows we'll watch the next week. It'd be a great game.

Yeah.

One thing you were saying, too, Peter, when you look at CJ. Stroud, he did that with less talent too around him, You would for sure argue that Caleb has way more talent than c J.

Stroud.

So sure, yeah, definitely, you know you get you tip your hat off to CJ for what he did last year.

I think there's a mental side to this too. For Caleb Williams. My loan thought is that you're down seventeen three is the number one overall pick. You had three points in a half and for you to come back and frankly, it reminds me of that clip from Hard Knocks when someone asked him do you ever get nervous? He's like, no, just that one time I was in high school and I threw two picks. Then I came back and had a touchdown on a slint. This is this young man, he's gonna take reps in terms of the accuracy and the completions and whatnot. But if you can keep your wherewithal on the game where you're down seventeen three at half, I think will be all right still to come on our show. We have some classic segments that we like to play on a Monday, like rewind that what made you grab your remote from Sunday?

Everything good, mon football.

The Miami Dolphins played all the hits yesterday in their game yesterday afternoon on CBS. They had a comeback win, their defense put the clamps down on Jacksonville in the second half, and once again they start off hot in September under Mike McDaniel bringing in Sherry Burris. Now, a lot of that had to do with the play of Tyreek Hill, but oftentimes that's not what the conversation was focused.

On, not at all, Jamie. As Peter mentioned, it was a very busy day for news updates, starting with the Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill recording one hundred and thirty yards and a touchdown in the win over the Jaguars. But it was all his pregame incident the hot topic after the game. Now, Hill was detained and handcuffed by Miami Dade Police on his way to the stadium for the Dolphins, described as a minor traffic violation.

But here's hill on what happened right now.

I'm still trying to put it all together. So I'm not gonna give you a version that I still don't know what happened, you know what I'm saying. But I do wanna say I do wanna be able to use this platform to say, like what if I wasn't Tyreek Hill bruh, like first case scenario, you know, Cause it's crazy, Like I wanna be a cop. One day, I got a state trooper, had all that, you know, so I got a lot of respect for cops, man. But obviously, you know, everybody has bad apples in every situation, you know, So I w I wanna be able to, you know, use this platform, you know, to figure out to figure out a way to like flip this and you know, make it a positive on both ends. On my end and then also Miami Dad, you know, so that way we can team together and you know, do something positive for the community. Cause that's what it's.

All about, bro.

Like you guys are here to like protect us as individuals, and and you know, I have a platform and I wanna be able to team up with you guys. So that's all I gotta say.

So seems like a positive outlook.

We'll keep you updated on the latest, but big news. All right, let's go.

To Jersey where the Giants we are honoring their one hundred year as a franchise.

Well, Sam Darnold came in and absolutely lit up the Giants.

We want to talk about disappointing debut Giants fans in those uniforms, just to watch Daniel Jones perform this way and for happened this way.

That's Andrew Van Gangle with a pick six.

Giants just absolutely an embarrassment at home twenty eight to six. I haven't even opened the pumpkin patches in New York yet, and it looks like Giants tain's already to call it quits on this season.

We're not even the fall foliage Jet Peter, here's your foliage vibes coming off Bengals camp. As Peter said, we're not good, but I'm sure they'll be better than the Patriots home.

Right.

The Patriots aren't starting their best quarterback and they traded their best player.

What but they're winning.

That's incredible.

The Bengals lose it home to the Patriots. We got a gate rage shower in Week one, wildness across the NFL.

I think that's a judgment of what the vibes were like for the Patriots coming out of camp. The fact that you're dumping gatorade on your first time head coach.

Thank you they did that.

We took care of business.

I'm sure Drod Mayo doesn't want to rewind having the cool gatorade down his back, But there are some plays that we want to see again from over the weekend. It's called you Gotta re One that it's moments from week one.

Peter Europe first to.

Tell you how much hype and excitement there was for this Giants one hundred year anniversary deal and for all the fifty living legends to be in the house, and for Parcels and Coughing to be in the house, and for it to be spoiled by Andrew Van Ginkle.

I got a shout at our guy Van Ginkle. The gink with.

Side of the free agent Ryan Flores had him in Miami, brings him into Minnesota. This silences the crowd in the first half, puts the game away before it even got started. Ben Kinkle with a really athletic play pick six, looks at the crowd.

We've had Ben Kinkle.

On the show for years. He's one of our favorites.

The Vikings defense Brian Flores, who did not get the Giants job, if you recall, interviewed and Brian dabol got it, put an absolute show on Vikings. Maybe the big surprise as they just absolutely blew out the Giants what was supposed to be a coronation of Giant's history.

Pean Kinkle, we see.

You watching that play in slow mo doesn't do a justice. The hand eye coordination on that play was ridiculous. May I take you back to a Saturday in early March in Indianapolis of twenty twenty three when we watched Anthony Richardson do this at the scouting combine. Then he takes it into the NFL and he does it here. My god, little yard touchdown pass. That's great to Alex Peers sixty yard touchdown pass that was not a dump it off just for twenty yards, and then Alex Peerce takes it another forty.

No, this ball traveled.

Sixty five yards in the next gen stats era, that's the third longest air traveled ball that since they've started taking the statistic down.

It's ridiculous. I absolutely shot off my couch and I saw it off bar. It was unbelievable.

It was unbelievable.

He definitely has a lot of arm strength, you know, speaking of arm strength and explosive plays, I want to take a look at this play right here. He would see a little play action and then you see Tua getting tyeri hereful. I mean, this dude ran a post across the cause I was like forty eight yards. He ran across the field and then shoots it up the field for this eighty yard touchdown. After everything he went through, we wind this back. Are you serious you mean to tell him you got him do une before this game? I mean you're wanting to do it plays like this. It was a big time moment down seventeen to seven. This is a big time play to put the Dolphins back into the game.

Celebration was good too, Yes it was. It was real good. Yeah, I understood completely.

I noticed the rewind stopped right before that happened.

That's probably not an accident, right.

I love when last year's star players come out in Week one in our great Already, Nico Collins made an amazing catch to ice the game for the Texans against the colt.

There's a third and eleven, under two minutes to play. They're trying to bleed the clock. Ball game. That's it. Thanks for coming, see you later.

Everybody on the Texans sideline knew that he made the catch.

The referees had to look at it. He did make it. He got the feet down. This is a walk off toe drag swag that absolutely ended the game. It's a ridiculous catch. Beat down cans in, that's it taking me. We're done. Nico Collins is a star.

Stefan Diggs got the touchdown and he looks good.

Collins, I think this is what they say. Peter Collins called game. That's the cool thing.

Not such a great weekend for his Michigan Wolfings, but that's okay.

It was a great weekend for the Houston Texas.

If Chris Collinsworth was on the call, would he have applied a ridonculous to that catch? I think he would have with a pH.

Right, so cool man. I just love this guy.

Peters covered it a lot.

The Texans didn't play outside the one o'clock window last year. They get Sunday night football treatment this weekend.

Good morning football.
