Good Morning Football.
Welcome to Good Morning Football, brought to you by Old Trapper Beef Jerkey. Happy Monday morning to you. We are live in Los Angeles and New York City. I am Sherry burs here with Akbar Baja Ba Millo. We have Isaiah stand back here at the breakfast table holding it down in New York City. That is our Peter Schrager and Kyle Brandt. What a weekend, guys, How was it for you?
It's an excellent weekend. We have so many things to talk about. I want to talk about the Steelers. I want to talk about the Lions. I want to talk to the Bears. Peter, what's on your mind right now?
Before we get to the highlight, I'd like to talk about Cam Bidham's raygun celebration that he did Vikings defensive back bringing it back to the Olympics.
Awesome day of football.
Not a good four o'clock window, terrible, a good day at football, including the Sunday night game.
Which was incredible. Are a fan of the Boys in Blue?
Was it incredible? As a Seattle cracking T shirt? No but we will get to it anyway. Isaiah stan Beck, you're always showing out. Let's go to Detroit at the Texans play.
Here's the deal.
The Lines have won six straight CJ Strout undefeated at home the season.
We're gonna jump right into the action.
It is the third quarter, and somehow at this point, Jared Goff has thrown four interceptions that I say four, i'man five goes without saying.
That's the most he's thrown in his career.
So but wait, they're only down ten and he's thrown five interceptions.
And I say they're down ten, they're not. They tie it up twenty three to twenty gree dan Man, great Foe arms under.
Two to play more slow mode dan Man twenty three, All third and six.
Gotta have it. Oh my Ra Saint Brown moves the chains, Houston. Are you gonna lose this game? The other quarterback through five picks. You can't lose an home.
Jake bas.
Got it. I'm believable.
Mike Turrico called, I've come from behind.
Win for the Ages.
The Lions win over the Texans.
A blue team beats the red team almost a week late, but it happened.
Take baits Is carried off twenty six to twenty three.
Jake Baits a Houston guy. Pretty incredible afterwards. I'm exhilarating Sunday nighter.
Let's hear from the two quarterbacks, Jared Goff with five picks and Cej's drought with a loss.
I never lost confidence because I felt like I was doing what I was supposed to do on most of those plays, and our defense really bailed us out. They really did all day. And the guy stuck with me on offense, and I was telling them, hey man, I'm good, just just hanging there and I'm good. I'm gonna have this thing figured out, and they stuck with me. Every team gets punched in the mouth at some point. Every team does, and the good ones respond, and we're one of those teams and we respond.
If like this game was on me, you know, definitely got to make plays.
You gotta make throws, can't turn the ball over and when we're in scoring position.
So I'll blame this on me, you know, I got to be better.
Well, the Detroit Lions improving to eight in one.
If you are a Detroit.
Fan and you went to bed at halftime thinking this thing was puts surprised as we saw. But Jared Goff throwing five interceptions, we remember when he couldn't he only completed passes. But this was an incredible comeback as we saw, Peter, from what you watched last night, what is your biggest takeaway from Sunday Night Football?
This is a historic win and this is not how it's ever gone for the Detroit Lions franchise, like they're always on the other.
End of this.
This is truly slaying dragons and Jared Goff through five interceptions, shar Do you know that no quarterback has won a game despite throwing five interceptions since twenty thirteen, And.
If you go through it.
Here, teams that through five interceptions in a game are oh to fourteen since twenty third. You go one step further, they have anyone who's had a night that five receptions has a twenty point.
Average of loss. They came back and they win.
It's the largest comeback win from Detroit since twenty fourteen. And they're at the best start they've had as a franchise since nineteen fifty four when they lost in the NFL Championship Game. These are not games the Lions historically win. These are games the Lions historically lose, and we always talk about you can't judge a team by its franchise history. Jake Bates, like, that's a story that doesn't end up in Detroit.
Where's number thirty nine.
Of all jerseys. It's a kicker, two field goals that skim the outposts and just make it in. They were down sixteen points on the road at the half against a Super Bowl contender and came all the way back to win. I repeat, this is a magical Lions team. We have seen all sorts of ways that they've won games season. They've won games with their offense, they've won games with their defense, they've won games with their special teams. They've blown out teams, they've blown out teams on the road. This was the game where they're not supposed to win, and yet they found a way against a worthy opponent.
This was not a bad team. This is a good team.
And Jared Goff threw five interceptions but kept his chin high and said we keep on going. And it wasn't like he threw five in excepts in the first quarter. He threw two in the second half, like he was bad throughout. Yet they still found a way, the defense bails them out, and then Jake Bates nails the kicks. The Lions historically do not win these games, but it's twenty twenty four.
They won this game.
It tells me something is different about this squad and we might be.
In the midst of a magical season.
Yes, yes we are. We're in the midst of a magical season. I think what this showed me in this game, what I took away from this is that Jared Goff has intestinal and testicular fortitude, his ability to stay calm under pressure when everything was going wrong, especially when you think about his history. Right, we know his history and the journey that he's gone from first rounder to people calling him a bus to him getting traded around. We're seeing bad throws, we're seeing him taking hits, and yet at no point did he like get shook. He was like, I still got this, and he's still believed all the way through five interceptions and a tremendous amount of throws excuse me, interceptions to.
Throw and to overcome.
But this isn't something that is unfamiliar to quarterbacks. I think people online for the first time, I'm watching game and what are people saying, and they were going in on Jared. We knew this was gonna run out. We knew this wasn't gonna last. Hold up, chill, Tom Brady, the Great Tom Brady. I'm not saying Jared Goff is Tom Brady, but even the Great Tom Brady has thrown four intersetion interceptions six times in his career and he didn't win any of those. Now again, I'm not taking it, he shot to Tom Brady. I'm just letting you know how difficult it was for a guy like Jared Goff and his team to come back from five interceptions.
Outstanding job.
That dude is tough.
I'll rock with Jared Goff.
Shot to Thomas Brady.
I'm just saying the facts.
Say listen to Peter.
You laid it out in terms of the turnovers, five interceptions. That's gonna be the topic of discussion obviously in regards to this game, but that's not the entire picture.
Let me paint this picture.
If you're going to go into a game, and I was gonna tell you that you're gonna have fourteen possessions right offensively, fourteen offensive possessions, and thirty five percent of those possessions we're gonna result in turnovers. Thirty five percent resulted in turnover. Oh now, on top of that, sixty four percent of your possessions, we're gonna result in.
You giving the ball to the opponent.
And all you did was find a way to win the ball game in the fourth quarter, when all else is going to crap, you find a way to get the ball in the hands of your playmakers. The playmakers are David Montgomery, is Jamiir Gibbs, and is Amamra Saint Brown. These guys had fourteen I sorry, I had fifteen touches in the fourth quarter alone. Okay, four splash plays in terms of plus ten yards. And then these guys had two field goals in a touchdown. They just found a way. When everything is going bad with your quarterback, he's stre You saw them go to the run game. You see Jamior Gibbs right there, turn it a quarter, turn it on the Jets, looking like real runner. You go up to the screenplays, get it out to your guy, Almira Saint Brown. They took the high precision plays and gave it to their playmakers and took the stress off off of Jed Golf and say Hey, guess what, we got your back. As long as you go a heay, just get get us the ball on a line of screamage. We'll get the yak yardage, and we'll put us in a position to win the ball game.
You know how it is with GoF all the talk this year is always.
Like they have more touchdowns than he has in completions, and it's been a cool thing. And you guys know, every time the line's come up, I say, someone has to rattle him a little bit.
We have to get him to at least throw a few incompletions.
He throw fifteen incompletions and five interceptions and they still un do you guys, do we as a group do we believe in the power of manifestations? If you just put images out there, if you believe in it, if you picture it. Do we tell our children when you go up, imagine yourself hitting the ball and then you will.
I do.
And I think someone.
Who definitely believes the manifestation is the coach the Detroit Lions, Dan Campbell, who gave this interview and made this happen.
This was incredible.
Listen, we have one error here or there. If we cut that out we'll be fine, and then we gotta have takeaways. Our defense has to get a couple of takeaways. We're not gonna get it all at one chunk here, so just one at a time. We'll do that. We'll play this out till we get two minutes off this inn.
The poor quarter before we turn on.
But we'll do it. He said it.
They had a good takeaways, and they do.
In the history of television has ever, however, the coach is telling those sideline reporter modeless and starts.
That he needed a takeaway, and the.
Conversation that happened that was awesome. See.
I think it's especially a great moment for Tariico and coms with because they've had the thing where they're like, and this kicker's made twenty seven makes in a row, and then of course he misses it by fifty feet. They have had the reverse. But the fact is the Lions, we knew they were a good team. It's that word I think to use special team, Like did you see how the Chiefs won yesterday? There's something going on there. It's not normal. And I'm watching yesterday. I'm like, I think it's a Lions chief super Bowl. It might we might just be there and everyone else is gonna throw up if your team is a contender, because that seems like nonsense. There's just something extra there, there's something where, there's something looking out for them. If it's football gods or it's just their aura. It's an incredible way that they won that game yesterday. They should not have won. Just take your loss, go to seven and two. It's fine. It wasn't your day. They said, no, we're not going quietly. Eight and one, eight and one, Peter.
They haven't done since the fifties.
No, and it's been It's been really fun to watch them come together and rally around each other and galvanize, even without Aiden Hutchinson. I do want to take a second to take a swing at the other team, the Houston Texans. Last year, they were the story of the twenty twenty three campaign. We we loved what we saw from CJ. Stroud, the offensive rookie of the year, and Demiko Ryans probably should have won Coach of the Year.
But they got next. They got next there, they'll tell you what they got next.
They only played games in the one o'clock window last night.
They have no prime times.
We've now seen the Houston Texans in back to back consecutive primetime games. In one of them, they lost to the Jets in horrible fashion last Thursday night. And this is one of those epic losses when you're up sixteen points at home and your defense intercepts a quarterback five.
Times and you still lose.
I'm okay to say I don't see you winning a Super Bowl. I don't see you in that same conversation. I know it was sacriligious before the season for me to say, let's wait and see before we crown the Texans. This is what happens sometimes, sophomore stuff, like all right, and that's fine.
I'll tell you this.
They're gonna be a playoff team. The AFC South is awful. They'll be the fourth seed. They'll likely play the Ravens, are the Steelers in the wildcard round on a Saturday Saturday on ESPN, and it'll be you know what.
It is, Saturday.
The Houston Texans will host a Saturday playoff game like they always.
Yeah, but don't begrudge.
Me if I look back on these past two weeks before I crown them as winners of that playoff game, I just have to say it would be great to see them win one of these primetime games and say, you know what, we're in that conversation too.
They weren't last night. Yeah.
I think it is a testament to the fact that how far the Texans have come from last year to this year.
That they were really in that game.
But still a lot to unpack and let's get a look around the league. Latest from our NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport. A lot of injuries over the weekend and just some to catch up on. As we saw yesterday, Ian Dak Prescott missing this weekend against the Eagles, but the Cowboys have yet to place him on injured reserve. Can you give us the latest on his status.
Yeah, it's a big.
Day for Dak Prescott and an educational day. He heads to New York to visit with a hamstring specialist, essentially one of the nations experts in his injury that is specifically dealing with. Remember, it is a hamstring evulsion, the hamstring partially or fully torn off the bone, and there are decisions to make. These are the decisions. Is Dak Prescott going to rest and rehab his way through this significant handstring injury which would be six to eight weeks likely season over anyway, or is he going to have surgery, which would be about three months also season over. First of all, either way, does not seem like we're going to see Dak Prescott through the balance of twenty twenty four. Is not officially been placed in IR but nothing good there.
Do not expect to see him. It's really about twenty twenty.
Five, his rehab, his recovery, and what it looks like he should get answers today, it does seem like he's leaning to surgery. Meanwhile, the Bucks had a potentially significant injury, Tristan Wurf's, their Pro Bowl offensive tackle, being helped off the.
Field with a knee injury.
My understanding based on the initial diagnosis, it is an MCL injury, but it does not look like a minor one. More information coming today as he gets the MRI, but certainly one to watch and then another one to watch for tonight's game for the Miami Dophins. One they absolutely got to have if they are going to save their season. Tyreek Kill, their electric star receiver, deal with a wrist injury. He actually has been kind of ill since the preseason, really, but aggravated it this week, missed some practice time official listens questionable is a true game time decision?
All right, thank you so much, Dean. As you mentioned that they are the Dolphins playing the Rams Monday night football. Appreciate my friend.
Thank you. Well.
Coming up, it was a rough day in Chicago for Caleb Williams and the Bears, to say the least. The Patriots came to town and.
Took care of business.
It's getting very chilly in the Windy city, Kyle.
Peter, the Texans beat the Bears in primetime? Does that count? They did? They did? Yeah, Caleb got sunned, he got little bro not.
People didn't like that, but they got beaten badly, just like they did yesterday. All right, Plus, guys, Commanders Steelers was excellent. It was pretty much everything you could possibly want. There was a great quarterback play, there was a comeback, there was controversy, there's new players making plays. We are going to get all the way into Steelers' Commanders.
We'll get into it.
Plus Ocpar has to have changed his personal appearance because of the way that game. We're gonna get into that.
The cinematica peer, what's up, dude, really.
Really Long Football is presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. What's your beef? Good morning football.
I didn't see this coming. You didn't see this coming.
The only person in the world who saw this coming as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I like Pittsburgh on the road and Russell Wilson Mania to set in, and it's a really cool deal.
I'm sorry, I'm just you know, it's a little early for me here on the West Coast. I just want to make sure I heard you correctly. Were you saying that they were going to win, that they're going to beat the Washington Commanders?
Yes?
Oh seven and two for the Steelers to.
The No, it didn't even matter what I was getting ready to say. That will not happen, Okay. Jade Daniels has been outstanding saving the off right now, Hi Monday, Hi, how was your weekend? I will cut my mustache and my beard off and go naked face before I left.
That happened. We're a SoC bar.
We're recording this.
Oh yeah, look, we recorded it and the weekend was great.
And guess who won? Guess who won the game?
The Steelers won the game against the Commanders, and you can try to distract us all you want with that big old American flag shirt that got Tea and Mustacher coming off.
We're looking about. Can I just say what do you think? Okay, let me just say this.
First off, I haven't had the prevestent look since I was you.
Know, pre puberty.
And secondly, look, Olami Day is the case zach Ertz the muff punt. Obviously we're talking about with with Olami Day, like if those things were a little different. Noah Brown makes that catch, the Commanders win this game, and so I think I should make the point that maybe this shouldn't happen because they could have won the game if those three things happened in the game. There's no way we're see in there. And I'm right in this situation that makes sense, correct sounds like a back it does.
But you said it.
We're gonna take that shirt off and wax your chef. It's coming off.
Okay, Well, we're gonna go shave. We even have a corner of shame. If you guys shave over corner of shave, corner of shame. We can call it however you want it. It's an important lesson. Also, we tell my three year old this at home. Words have meanings. If you say something.
They might have to do it business. Doesn't that right? Stand on there, I need a mirror for this.
This is a barber.
Did you guys know we had a barber shop in our beautiful studios here in l also a.
Trash bag bro like, I got a sock bar? Do you want some shaving cream anything?
My goodness? All right, you do that.
I'm gonna do the highlights of the Steelers beating the Commanders.
I know why you went for them.
Look the commander's looking to go eight and two for the first time since nineteen eighty six.
But look at this. The Steelers have a new toy. That's Mike Williams. He used to be a jet.
That's his first catch as a Steeler. It's a thirty two yard touchdown. Russell gotta going on fourth and nine. Commanders go for it less than two minutes to play. Zach ertz Venable kind of looked like he had it at first, but they see the official come in.
They looked at it. His knee is down, he gets touched. Ackbar is now just kidding.
All kinds of rashes, sort of burn rocket flash.
I hope it burns. No, no, no moisturizing, no shaving cream. The Steelers win. The Steelers win.
The Steelers win by one, doesn't matter, it's by one or a thousand ochbar.
How's it going?
You got the razor, Burns said, And yet you're gonna be uncomfortable as health the next five hours of the show.
Yeah. I don't have any alcohol, so I'll get some good.
Yeah you need some alcohol, strong stuff, vodka, Russell Wilson talk about it.
You know.
The thing about us is that I think the biggest thing, and Coach talked about it at the end of the week, is in these moments, these critical games and these these fun games that we have coming up and all that, and the battles that we have coming up, it's it's not about worrying about what happens or this, And that's about being in the moment, you know, being so locked into the moment and loving the moment so much that you can't miss it, you know. And and sure enough we were able to do that. I think the offense line did a tremendous job.
We battled.
I thought guys responded in the midst of diversity, like I said, I think we we just we need to answer the call. And once we got that touchdown, the defense stood up like the best defense in the world that they are and that was huge for us.
But we just checked it there with Russell Wilson. We're gonna check in with Akbar. You look like you're almost done there.
Yet I'm done. Let's take a look. What are you talking about it? I like it.
You look like someone who hangs out in the parking lot of a liquor store to tap someone on the shoulder and say, can you please buy us beer?
Sir? They will call you chocolate drop.
So we know how you.
Guys feel about the shaved beard. But Peter, what stands out to you when we look at the Commander's game and how the Steelers were able to just top them there at the final bit, the final beat pretty much kind of some are.
These some like union rules? I don't know about that. The that the barber came over hand it off bar.
A razor and said do it yourself, like I thought.
Maybe someone would actually shave it for it. No, no, no, no no, do yourself.
And shame for the essays that awkward when it has to grow back in are you going to grow it back? Because that's going to look terrible now for weeks until it gets.
In this already.
Do you need a lotion or something like them?
No, Like, my wife doesn't even know that I've done this.
And when I go back, Hey babe, how.
Like you need to go back to Kryshaw High School? Ok bar.
Sometimes you gotta do some things to, you know, change things up a bit.
I like it.
Who knows, all right, let's get let's get into this game here. I look at this one here, and this was one of those where it was like everything was going Washington's way, everything in washing Away, and then the veteran quarterback does his thing. The touchdown pass to Williams is one thing, but I want to go to the snap at the end. And Kyle said it during the highlight. Newton's a young kid. He's been on the Fab.
Five as a rookie.
He's like a good player and he's the second round selection, probably should have been a first rounder. But Russell Wilson gets to that line and he's done this a thousand times before. He's like, I'm gonna draw this guy off side and the reaction of Russ as he knows, and everyone in Pittsburgh knows exactly what he's doing.
Draws Russ knows. Yeah, fitst pump, Yeah, points to the sideline. Yeah, that's the veteran leader. That's the veteran leader.
And it's not the deep passes, and it's not the rainbow plays and it's not all that. It's got him, my top, but got him, got it out him. It's for years since Roethlisberger hasn't been in there.
It has been everyone.
From Mason Rudolph to Kenny Pickett, and those guys have been.
Valiant and trying to win games.
But like I've got Russell Wilson and he's got this dance move going, and everything's feeling right for the Steelers.
It is the first time I've ever shown a highlight from a play that wasn't even a play. It was just the cerebral stuff.
And that's why Russell Wilson is the difference maker in Pittsburgh this year and why they might have a special team in Pittsburgh, despite a lot of doubters going into this entire situation.
Well, Peter shout out first of all to our new emoji character Obau.
He's crying hearing with laughter over here.
He had a new.
Emoji movie, y'all.
Anyways, hey, my boy followed through to I'll give you a follow through.
Andy.
The Pittsburgh Steelers they do boring will.
That's just it.
Mike Tomliny does boring will. He doesn't need any superstars. He just needs people who does their job right, old school method. D y Jay, Let me help you guys understand this. Third down forty four percent not amazing, but guess what is respectable?
Fourth down fifty.
Percent, red zone seventy five percent, goal to goal one hundred percent. Listen, these guys ran the ball for one hundred and forty yards on forty three rushes. That's fifty seven percent of the game, fifty seven percent of their snaps.
They ran the ball. They didn't even have a big time rusher.
If I was gonna tell you there's gonna un the ball fifty seven percent and Najie Harris was not going to be their top rusher of the day, you guys would have never believed me. Right, They controlled the time of possession thirty six minutes. Then you talk about Russell Wilson and his leadership going up to the line of scrimmage and hard accounting to end the game. That never works, right, It never works, But it does work when you go up there and you're the leader that everybody believes in you and they are all on one, one mindset, one mission. These guys are a problem just because of the fact that they're not going to lose the game, right, and he's not asking anybody to do anything above and beyond what they need to do. So these guys are now in a position where you need to be concerned about them because they're just going to continue to do the boring stuff.
Well that Justin Fields was four and two. Justin Fields was foign two. What are you doing? You know I don't play Russell Wilson. Justin Fields was four and two. No no, no, no, no, no.
The Minnesota Vikings were the best story in the NFL through four weeks. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the best story through the last month in the NFL. A month in which they're undefeated, in which they took a castaway veteran quarterback who was washed and put him in despite a four and two record and haven't lost since.
This is really really cool. And the Mike.
Tomlin shot of him saying got him at the end of the game. That is in the twenty twenty four season recap. Whenever the NFL puts it out, give me the shot of him saying got him and he starts high five and dudes takes the headset off. You know what I'm reminded of. Remember back in twenty sixteen when Villanova won March Madness on a game winning shot at the end to beat North Carolina, and the shot of Jay Wright as the shots going up, he just goes bang and he doesn't even flinch. He doesn't smile, he doesn't do any of that stuff. That was Mike tom And I only wish, I only wish we could go back in time a couple weeks back to Halloween, because I would be Mike Toman for Halloween and all I would need is a.
Headset, the sunglasses.
And a wheelbarrow to get around like Randy Marsh and say this is how I do my thing. Coach Marsh and Pittsburgh has the best story right now. They're an unbelievable deal. They will not lose commanders. Still, great commandads are going to be there. Jaydon's great doesn't take away any of that I'm still not totally convinced zach Ertz didn't have the first down, But who cares. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the best story going right now. Next year, fifty weeks from now, that'll be in tom for Halloween.
Get a wheelbarrow, get it, yep.
I mean, it's just proof that you cannot question head coach Mike Tomlin. But we learned a very important lesson when it came to the outcome of this game.
Eating off far.
Holcher.
Oh oh, I've got to be I don't know, eleventh, fourth grade, fifth grade.
Something like that.
That's just as baby smooth.
Now, my friend, that's fine, dude, you look younger now, all right, Bears Patriots, this is Drake May and Caleb Williams.
Caleb, of course went first.
Overall, Drake went third, Old were all three three at the end of the first half, Drake May touchdown passed the.
Fellow rookie Jalen Polk. Bears have a lot of opportunities in this.
Game, and they just had nothing, nothing on offense. Kayleb Williams huge huge steps back. Maybe the worst loss of the season for Chicago, a nineteen to three blowout loss which they were never in this game, Kyle, I'm sure you'll have funny to say, just a bitch.
Yeah, stand by.
A very good win for the Pats, though Drake may looks good. Here's a unique matchup. If you don't see a lot of Jets Cardinals. The Cardinals are four and one in their last five. They're already at fourteen to six.
So the Jets have a legitimately really good drive.
They get all the way down in the red zone and look, Rogers is gonna hit Davonte like good old times.
Here we go touchdown.
No, he dropped it.
Devonte Adams was targeted thirteen times.
He had thirty one yards. It's not happening. Surely the sun was in his eyes. No, no, the sun was in Ceedee Lamb's eyes. We'll get to that later. Twenty four. To look at Kyler.
Look at this dude, go it's everything he was ever supposed to be out of college. He's playing like a number one overall pick yesterday. If you watch the Cardinals game, you say it's the top five quarterback. He looked awesome. Never Mind the Jets and Rogers, never mind, get the camera off them. It was a Cardinals blowout. It was never competitive thirty one to six. At one point, both the Jets and the Cowboys yesterday were losing thirty one to six at like the same time of the afternoon, the Cardinals roh.
Six and four. So naturally, let's talk to the Jets quarterback.
A lot of emotions this year, for sure. I thought, you know, after a big win Thursday night, nice long week, we're going to come out with a lot of energy and win the game. And we just, you know, we didn't come out with great energy on either side of the ball. And offensively, you ain't not gonna be anybody scoring six points. It seems like there's a lot of that's a loaded answer, but it's not the time and the place to get into any of that right now, Rich, But at some point I'll.
Give you a better answer.
Well, we certainly can't wait to hear all about the emotions that Aaron Rodgers was talking to you. But yesterday, who do you think had the more confounding losses? The Jets, who their head introm head coach jeff Oldbrick said they just weren't prepared. But then also looking at the Bears, you guys, they've lost three straight now they haven't scored a touchdown Peter in their last two games, which one of these two really brought up more question marks for you.
All right, let's start with the Jets, because I'm New York and I was the one who had the Jets being the number one seed in the AFC before the season started. And trust me, the viewers at home and the fans on Twitter will let me know every single time the Jets put out and effort like this, and that's okay, that's fine. I think a lot of people did worse in the political space predicting things than I do on the football space.
Already, Grace here, Okay, here's what I'll say. This Jets team.
Is really, really a treat if you're a sadist, and the reason is because this team will either break your heart with a crazy last second loss with unlikely missed field goals and terrible penalties and does head scratching with or they'll just get the doors blown off them.
This was the ladder of the two. Yesterday.
Jets had ten days prepare for this Cardinals offense, which I didn't realize was the eighty four Niners or the two thousand you know, rams, I had no idea that this was the version that we were getting. Jets had all the Jets defense with all these names, both Williams brothers and Sauce Gardner, who Hey, saus if you want a contract, we might got a practice tackling not golf.
In the offseason, I saw a funny commercial with him on Uber Eats and Jerry Rice Glad Saws and Rice.
I'm glad. I like that. I'm glad.
I know I sound like I'm just like, you know, a crazy sports radio caller in New York right now, But I do feel like I was one of the people out there who really believed, and I think I got credibility. I've been covering this game for a long time, and I was on the ground, and I really did think that this season was salvageable, even as recently as last week when they had the big fourth quarter in the second half where Rogers threw three touchdowns against the Texans. The Jets defense came out in this game with a defensive head coach, their second defensive head coach of this same season, and they allowed seventy plus yard drives on three of their first for defensive opportunities. The Cardinals just went up and down the field. Rogers didn't have it. The energy was lacking. I don't know how to get the energy going. The season is now over, like I don't. I don't think there's I could do this again after another win and be like, well, look us look at the schedule like it's over. And if you're a Jets fan, I'm not sure what's worse the last second zerline miss in the rain at home against Denver or these where you never were even competitive and never had a shot. It's a shame because I, amongst many.
Had such high expectations for this Jets team. Yeah, you know, I'm with you, and I share the same frustration, the or confusion. It's confounding, fuddled when it comes to the Jets, especially when you think about kind of what where they are at this point in the season. You think back to last year. Last year, at this very same point, they were four and five with Zach Wilson as their quarterback. Now we're sitting there in this situation. They've got Aaron Rodgers. They got the addition and subtraction right. They've got Aaron Rodgers. Hassan Reddick. They subtract him by getting rid of Robert Salah. And yet this is supposed to somehow be a better team. But when you look at the production for Aaron Rodgers twan so far, two hundred and twenty five passing yards per game, fifteen touchdown, seven interceptions, you know, that's the same amount of interceptions as Zach Wilson had. I mean, so I'm asking myself, like, what are we doing. Is this the team that is supposed to be cohesive and supposed to be there? I don't think so. I mean, at this point, I'm going to say something. This sounds crazy, but Zach Wilson did a better job at this point of the season than Aaron Rodgers is doing. And that's just the truth about it. I mean, that's just the fact when you look at it. So, yeah, I am be fuddled with this because that's Aaron Rodgers. That's not the same results you're supposed to get. Especially when we made this big hype about getting Davonte Adams. I thought, oh man, this is it. I'm sitting up here thinking, man, they could just win seven or eight in this.
Thing, Like Nah, I'm cool.
I'm cool, and you're cool, and you're very fresh faced, docbar If you missed the dcbar shaved his face on camera earlier in the show.
Because he thought that the Steelers would win.
It was like a wacky morning zu Bette, and he paid it off ambly. I really liked it.
We'll take wacky mornings. Yeah, we'll take it on a Monday morning. Also on a Monday morning. We try to do our best to say positive.
So Peter, just check me here. I'm trying not to be so dire. I'm gonna talk about I'm gonna do my best.
Okay.
There are bad teams. There's a lot of them. It's not that the Bears look bad. They look broken.
It's not like, oh that wasn't their day yesterday, or tough breaks. It was a total start to finish malfunction. The energy is flat, the effort is flat. The body language it's almost offensive.
Caleb is a mess. He's a mess. Nobody's open, and if they are, he misses them.
It feels like a defender if not two, has just a free sprint at him every single time he tries to pass. You watch games on Sunday, and there are teams that don't play well, and there are teams that lose, and then you watch the Bears, and you say, what the hell is this. It's not that they lost, it's not even that they have a four and five record.
It just feels like they have no shot.
It feels like they're not being properly run, packaged, or produced.
And as always with this fan base, there is a sickening feeling of familiarity. My man Sylvie was on this.
Jay Cutler was sacked eight times once, Justin Feels was sacked nine times once, and now Caleb the difference Maker joins the club. It's not different. There's nothing different going on. Here's the emotional scale. I got tracked the whole thing. After the Commanders and the Hail Mary, there was denial, like this isn't happening. We're four and three, We're fine. After the Cardinals loss, that was anger. That was rage. That was guys punching their TVs and throwing them out the window.
After this loss, this is just sadness. This is the worst one. This is acceptance. They didn't punch their TVs yesterday, turn them off. My father's eighty years old this year.
My father is a lifelong Bears fan, going back to when George Hallis was their coach.
I texted him yesterday.
I say, what'd you think? He said, I turned it off in the first quarter. I can't watch anymore.
I can't do it. I don't want to watch the Bears.
Fans of the Soldier Field, like these guys, did the same thing. When the Bears started the game with four out of five punts and start their game, they booed. When they started the second half with four straight punts, they bowed, and then they just left. They left en Mass. The only thing that Bears are beating right now is traffic. That is a massive scene.
Against the Patriots. The Patriots. Now, I'm gonna calm down. I'm gonna finish by saying this.
I do not come on here on this show, at this table with these co hosts.
And scream for firings. It's just not my style. But I'm also not impressed by the.
Pride that the Bears have and the fact that they have never done it in the middle of a season before and their one hundred plus year history.
No points for that, just like no points for the offense.
But I will say this, I prefer to be an optimist if you watch the game, though, I also refuse to be a liar. And if you are someone from the get go who said they're gonna blow this, they're gonna break Caleb.
Watch.
The Bears are who you thought they were. The Bears are who you thought they were. I have nothing else I can play any agree.
Sorry, yeah yeah, it depends on Also what you search it. There's either five or seven stages of grief. So the Bears fans are just kind of going through the checklist.
It hurts in Chicago.
But also right now, Patriots, they did get the win nineteen to three. Cards just crushed the Jets thirty one to six. What a weekend. More GMFB though right after.
This Good Morning Football. Welcome back to Good Morning Football.
I'm omar Res. The Chargers have won three in a row in large part because they don't beat themselves. They'll win over the Titans. Yesterday was their seventh game this season without a turnover.
But it didn't look.
Like that would be the case.
So let's take you back to that game for our replay review. Just before the half, it looked like Jeffrey Simmons had the strip sack on Justin Herbert that was returned by Roger McCrery for the touchdown. And the lead for Tennessee, but replay review ruled Herbert was in the act of throwing the fumble, change to an incomplete pass and the touchdown taken off the board and the lions eighty fifth annual Thanksgiving Day Classic against the Bears will feature country music's hottest rising star as six time Grammy nominated artist Chaboozie. Everybody getting Tipsy at the Bar will take the stage as part of the Lions Thanksgiving halftime show powered by Verizon. Shaboozi Smash Hit, a bar song holds the longest rain of twenty twenty four at number one on the Billboard Hot one hundred and coming up next to Moments you Have to See to Believe.
Again, Well, it is time you wind that place from Sunday.
We just needed to see twice.
We had football from nine am Eastern all the way till.
It was very late.
Isaiah, which moment first had you go, I'm sorry, what was that?
It has to be I gotta go take down to cam Bine. I mean, cam Bina went out there and did his thing, and it made you go back to the Olympics when you were out there the balls throwed up in the air, you go out there and snag that thing.
There's only one thing to do in terms of celebration.
You gotta say, hold on, hold on, hold on, everybody, get out the way, back up, back up, give you my space.
I'm about to hit you guys.
With the ray gun the one time, baby Oh hit the polls and they get a fit.
Hey listen, look at a technique, look at hitting, and then that's the one right there.
As soon as you get that polls right there, I think we should all just.
Take a one shot like this.
That's it right there.
It's good anytime we can get the Australian break dancing competition back.
Onto our show. That actually carried us this summer for a while. I don't know.
We appreciate ray Gun and we appreciate can buying him. I gotta go to a guy who didn't come out in the winning end of a game on Sunday.
It had maybe my favorite play, fourth quarter, fourth down. This is Baker Mayfield.
That is Nick Bosa and with TC the replay on this play here, Baker Mayfield with one arm fights off maybe the strongest player in the NFL and keeps his game alive.
It converts.
That is a stiff arm on a Bosa. But now, if you know the history between Bosa and Baker back to Oklahoma and Ohio State, this.
One might have meant even a little more. But look at this. This is on fourth down. That's Nick Bosa. That is an insane play. It moves the change.
I absolutely love Baker Mayfield. I know the Buccaneers have lost four straight game, but Baker has.
Been incredible in all of them. What a tough, tough son of a gun. And I love that he's stiff armed.
I think you're smiling at the end of that too face.
You know.
For me, I'd have to go to that New York Giants game, of course against the Panthers in Germany.
Take a look at this fresh stut.
Oh, it's by this it's turved down.
I'm sorry, I was listening to this.
I'm like, what did you just say.
I'm like, okay, he's that's Sean Hockley, by the way, of course, son of Ed Hockeley. And he goes out there and nails it in German.
That was pretty good. I thought I was just blown away there.
So to you, Sean Hockley.
Was his job.
I hope I did that right.
In fact, that was Sewan his father ed did it in Spanish years ago.
It's fantastic. We love Sean. Sean Hockley.
I happen to know a fan of Good Morning Football, so we love that. My guy didn't win the game either. It just made me happy and made me laugh. Can we get some mccrcyl give me some Mac Jones touchdown celebration? He wants to, all right, so he runs it in Watch what Mac does understated?
Not you know what, Mack.
Look at the Jackson Mill, guys. I know that Jack's aren't winning any games right now, and I love this. I love Jacksonville in the back. Look at Jack and Neville. What are you doing? Jackie's gonna get a letter from the league for that.
Jack's just Jack's just got sued by the.
Find by the league. That was something, man.
So my moment where questioning exactly what this is. But sometimes you need a snack in game, right b Nicks just kind of unwraps.
I think that's a brace Bryce, Krispy Tree.
I know what The crustables are very much a thing right now that there's like five thousand of them eating in the NFL.
But I have to go back and say what is that that's
