This is what's become commonly referred to as "period poverty". The plight has come under the spotlight as the world observed Menstrual Hygiene Day at the weekend. Now, a new campaign by the Footprints Foundation plans to foster a sense of sisterhood and motivate people to donate sanitary pads that will be distributed to underprivileged girls in South African high schools.
