By Newsbreak Producer Hoosen Ebrahim - One in four girl learners are forced to miss school on a monthly basis in South Africa because they can not afford feminine hygiene products. This is what's become commonly referred to as "period poverty". The plight has come under the spotlight as the world observed Menstrual Hygiene Day at the weekend. Now, a new campaign by the Footprints Foundation plans to foster a sense of sisterhood and motivate people to donate sanitary pads that will be distributed to underprivileged girls in South African high schools.
