By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - Child protection organisation "Operation Bobbi Bear" says the increase in sexual crimes against children at informal settlements in areas north of Durban is due to the high levels of poverty. The NGO spoke to Newsbreak after 23 cases of rape were allegedly reported in Bhambayi this past weekend. In a separate case, a five-year-old was allegedly raped by her father in Tongaat, north of Durban on Sunday night. The man is believed to be on the run. Operation Bobbi Bear founder, Jackie Brandfield says the high number of rape cases being reported in these areas come as no surprise.
