By Newsbreak Producer Genevieve Lanka - As the IEC's deadline for the submission of candidate nominations loom, the ANC youth league in KwaZulu-Natal are calling for more youth representation in the party's list. Several members picketed outside the party's provincial offices, demanding a 25 percent youth representation across all municipalities in the province. Political parties and independent candidates intending to contest the November 1st election will have until 5pm today to submit their nominations and prescribed election deposits. However, programme's coordinator for the Democracy Development Programme - Brian Mhlongo - says the need for greater youth inclusion is evident across all political parties...

It was Phoenix, north of Durban's turn to Give Their Vote Voice. Following on from more national conversations in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town- the conversation shifted to more local issues this time. Residents put forward their individual concerns to representatives from the ANC, DA, EFF, IFP and DLC.

By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - The KwaZulu-Natal Subsistence Fisherfolk Forum has given the local Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs department one week to respond to their demands or further mass action will be taken. This after scores of fisher folk embarked on a mass march along the Durban beach front earlier this week demanding access be granted to fishing spots which were used for decades before the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. They say a year prior to the event, these spots were closed off and never reopened among other issues such as alleged harassment. Spokesperson for the Forum, Desmond D'Sa says for the vast majority of these people, fishing is the only means to feed their families and put their children through school...
