Byron Knutson, who joined Martin Luther King Jr., in the 1965 voting rights march from Selma to
Montgomery, Ala., passed away December 6 in Bismarck at 96, surrounded by family. North Dakota voters elected Knutson to serve as legislator, insurance commissioner, and labor commissioner. He served in the Korean War as a Marine in the 1950s.
