Joining the show is CEO of the Families United Network, Ron Simon, to discuss the importance of Mental Health Awareness and the many options available to those seeking help today. The Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health & Developmental Services is a department within Luzerne County that provides a full range of mental health and intellectual disability services responsive to individual and community needs. They work with a variety of area agencies, as well as helpline, to offer mental help and developmental care to both Luzerne and Wyoming County citizens. Learn more here

 (17:49 - 30:00) It's time for the annual Ruth's Place Walk for Hope on Public Square! The event will take place on June 1st at 1pm, and acts as the major fundraiser tp keeping the only 24/7 women's homeless shelter going in Luzerne County! Ruth's place is constantly at or near capacity, and helped over 200 homeless women last year - a 30% annual increase! Homeless is becoming a bigger issue everywhere due to rising costs of living and ongoing employment issues. Patrons can "walk in the shoes" of area homeless women during the event, stopping a several area nonprofits and agencies the women of Ruth's place frequent to find work and housing, Learn more by following them on Facebook or checking out Ruth's Place
