(00 - 15:00) Marcy opens the show with Nicole Urban, Founder of Ol' Mother Cluckers Fam Sanctuary in Meshoppen. Nicole started the nonprofit in 2020 after driving to Texas to save a retired racehorse from slaughter, and has been taking in farm animals in need from across the nation ever since. Urban cares for everything from pigs and horses to sheep and cows...and is helping to raise not only awareness of farm animal abuse, but education on the animals as well. (15 - 24:05) The Keystone Mission is celebrating 20 years of helping those in need throughout the Wyoming Valley, and Communications Manager Jillian Mirro joins the show to talk about several new advancements the mission has deployed. Currently, the Keystone mission aids the area's homeless and needy through an array of services and programs. They have 2 innovation or day centers - one in Wilkes-Barre and the other Scranton - as well as 1 male transformation center in Wilkes-Barre that specializes in addiction and homelessness, where men stay for a prolonged time and get resources such as jobs, education, skills and more. The Keystone Mission opened Wilkes-Barre's first 365 overnight shelter on June 17th for men, women and families. Learn more at www.KeystoneMission.org
