February is National Heart Month and Dr. Nancie Fitch from MedExpress in Wilkes-Barre tells listeners how they can stay heart-healthy all year long! She explains the different between heart disease and a heart attack, symptoms, risks and more. Fitch urges listeners to check out the American Heart Association for more info as well as the CDC.

Director or Development Amy Everetts joins the show to discuss the services the nonprofit offers during April's Sexual Assault Awareness Month, as well as several upcoming events. The race will be held Sunday May 5th at 10am at the Birchwood Pavillion in Plains with a pre-registration of 8:30am. Proceeds benefit a local family in need, and this year's event will aid a 2nd grade teach from Solomon Plains who is on medical leave battling cancer. Rick's Fun is was created in 2017 in honor of Fernandes's father, who lost his battle with cancer in 2018. Learn more about Rick's Fun Run on Facebook.

Marcy is joined by Osterhout Library Community Relations Director Michelle Riley to hear all about this year's All Fore Books Golf classic coming up Sunday, May 5th from 10-2! Bring your family and mini-golf 18 rounds through the library itself! The Osterhout holds the event with the help with the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, and proceeds benefit children's programs at the library as well as a literacy outreach program! The library system is now so much more than books - they offer free computer access, wifi-hotspot rentals, the "Library of Things" and so much more! Thousands of construction workers are seriously injured or killed on the job each year.  Workers can minimize risks by following OSHA guidelines and using fall protection, and following guidelines when around heavy machinery, equipment and cave in hazards. It's time to Bid 4 the Buildings, and Executive Director Cynthia Beeman joins the show to discuss not only the importance of preserving architectural history, but what essential community programs are offered inside of each. Beeman runs Susquehanna County Interfaith, which provides various crisis programs throughout the area they service -  like education, utility assistance and more. They also operate 3 thrift boutiques which help fund the programs. Bid for the Buildings will take place April 26th at 6pm inside the Montrose Interfaith location and include food, a silent auction and more. Then Our Brother's Keeper founder Katrina Gentner joins the show to discuss why she created the recovery-based nonprofit as well as her efforts to not only educate the community on addiction but aid anyone seeking recovery. Gentner lost her brother, Chris, to an overdose in 2022 and decided to form the nonprofit in his honor, and is in recovery herself!  Aside from rendering aid to anyone seeking help entering into treatment she gathers gifts to take to local recovery centers in December. Gifts are donated to parents in the facility so they can wrap and send them to their children during the holiday season. The group also hosts an annual education event which will take place May 25th in Exeter. They will also host a Strike Out Addiction bowling fundraiser at Modern Lanes in Exeter on April 27th. This center will provide space for an additional 125 children in need of child care in the area. Then Frankie Warren shares some scrumptious details with Osterhout Free Library North Branch member Jane Austin - the library is hosting a books, baskets and baked goods sale Saturday, April 20th. The sale acts as a fundraiser for the Osterhout North Branch from 11-3 at the Parsons location. 

Marcy is joined with Junior Achievement of NEPA President Susan Magnotta and Event Chair Ruth Corcoran because the 2nd annual JA Inspire event is coming to Mohegan Sun Pocono April 16-17th! The event brings juniors and senior from over 25 area high schools together to learn about future career opportunities right here in NEPA across dozens of fields. Students can chat with different businesses, listen to key speakers, demo trades and more. Junior Achievement's focus is on career exploration and financial literacy for students across Northeast and Central PA. Learn more at nepa.ja.org
